Hyde Park Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2017"Old school" at its best
As a history buff, I really enjoyed playing Hyde Park. Being able to experience the track just as the greats of game did back in the 40's and 50's was memorable. Knowing that those guys and gals stood "right here", and now I get to play those same shots was never far from my mind as I toured the course. Not enough "stars" available to rank that experience. One request I have is to maybe add a sign, posted on #6, that tells the story of HOW Hogan took an 11 on that hole. That would be interesting.
Now, the course conditions, on the other hand, were not good this day. It appears that nothing had been mowed in days. (Probably due to the rain they've been having?? ) The greens were extremely shaggy and "lumpy". Fairways were like rough, and the rough was like a pasture. (i would know as I was in it most of the day. ~oye~:) But being a "glass half full" kind of guy, and seeing for the first time how Ross designed greens, I'm thankful, in a way, that the greens were running so slow. I would have been dead on many a hole had they been running "normal".
I will go back. I want to play Hyde Park again, now that I've seen it once. As the tee-box construction wraps up, and the mowers can get out and get the course manicured again, it will only get tougher, and the realization of how good the greats of the game were will become more apparent when playing the course as it was meant to be.

Played On 07/09/2017The best course around.....
Love this course!! Just wish I lived a bit closer. But worth the drive every time.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 06/18/2017Great course, but not on this day
I enjoy playing here, but this day was bad.
Greens had just been plugged, and with all the rain that had fallen in the last three days, the sand had washed out of the plugs. The mowers couldn't get out due to wet conditions, so the fairways were more like US Open rough.
Not the courses fault, but they COULD have mentioned the course condition issue before I went out and played......
The Georgia Club - Chancellors Red/Black Course
Played On 05/20/2017Started great, but then.......
Great course, perfect conditions, awesome staff. Pace of play was great at first, until the back nine, when there were 5 groups at one hole. As a single, I bailed after seeing that. Proshop apologized, and refunded the back 9.
I will go back!!

What a gem!! Best kept secret on the SE Georgia coast. I'm hesitant to brag this course up, for purely selfish reasons. ;)
Some of the greens were a tad rough in spots, but the overall experience was fantastic. Oh, and $5 for all-you-can-hit range balls off real grass is the BEST kept secret out there.
Arizona Golf Resort
Played On 11/21/2016Meh, not bad....
Have driven by this course many, many times over the years but had never played it. So I decided to try it once. The course wasn't in the best shape, most everything was painted green. (fairways, greens) and the homes along the course were a bit of an eye-sore.
However, I do enjoy the history of the course, with the replica of Loren Green's Ponderosa house.
I'd go back if/when the price is right.
Fountain of the Sun Country Club
Played On 11/18/2016Fun!!
Your typical AZ golf course community course. Winding through homes on both sides, no elevation, but narrow and challenging. Not a grip-it-and-rip-it course, your aim will need to be "on" for this one.
The Amelia River Club
Played On 09/10/2016Now that I've seen it, I'll go back
Great time playing this course. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Tight course, anything out of bounds is lost. (i would know :-/ ) Great deal through Golfnow, played as a single and didn't have to wait on any hole. Didn't play that great, but now that I've seen the layout, the next round will hopefully be better. There certainly will be a "next round"!!
Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
Played On 05/07/2016Other than the greens........
Had a great time on our first trip to this course. Super friendly staff, to include the cafe' staff. Other than the greens, the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. The greens were not good. Speaking with the Marshal, he stated that for some reason, the greens didn't come back this spring, but they are working on getting them back. I'd call ahead of time and inquire on the green conditions before I went back., Oh, and one hole, the entire hole from teebox to green was dead, and brown, but still playable.
Renditions Golf Course
Played On 4/27/2013Great course, but sloowwwwww
I had a blast playing this course. All the replica holes are a neat twist. However, having to wait at the 7th for 30 min was a bit of a turn off. I wouldn't go back on a wknd, but would play it again in a heart beat during the week.

Very nice course. Challenging and visually stunning.
Hilltop Golf Club
Played On 8/23/2012Amazing what they can do with an old landfill
Built on a landfill, Hilltop is a fun, little course. Some real easy par 3's, up to a killer, up hill par 4, and everything in between. I've played it a few times and enjoy it. However, I don't feel it warrants $32 for 9 holes. I wouldn't pay $32 anywhere for nine-holes.
Thank you for your excellent review! We apologize for the condition of the grass lengths, as you guessed, there had been a lot of rain, and with the course being so saturated, we could not get the mowers in most areas.
As for the sign about how Hogan shot an 11, that is a great idea! We will definitely figure out a way to do that in the future!
The next time you come out, the course will be much more manicured, comparatively speaking. Thank you again and we look forward to earning that fifth star!
