Kahili Golf Course
Played On 07/02/2016Essence of golf in Maui
Teed off around 10:30am.
- stiff winds 20-30 mph all afternoon
- hilly golf course
- great views of Maalea harbor
- speedy down hill putts
Don't get me wrong, just stating factual stuff. This is why we play here!
Lick Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/10/2014Challenging tee shots and greens
Overall, a very engaging course in that it makes you think on many holes. Given that on about half a dozen holes, you can't see the green from the tee box, you'll need to play this course several times before you can enjoy what the designer intended. The greens have a great deal of break and pin placement possibilities that keep each visit interesting.
Parkview Golf Course
Played On 06/20/2014Golfer friendly course; good value
Played several times because of availability of tee-times at discounted rates.
Surprising amount of elevation changes, mature trees, and blind shots that remind you of many New England courses.
Even though greens are flat and well-rolled, they have much more break than expected. During earlier rounds, fairways turf heights sometimes were on a tall side. Rough is rather forgiving.
Favorite holes are the Par 3s, 12 and 18.
The New England Country Club
Played On 10/8/2012Narrow fairways, smallish greens, "odd" layout on several holes, elevation changes, slow play.
All add up to a so-so weekend afternoon. Fairly unforgiving for a mid to high handicapper. If you are more skilled and enjoy blind shots, forced carries, winding fairways, then you'll enjoy the value. We came here attracted by the Irwin design. Glad we didnt pay too much.
International Golf Club - Oaks Course
Played On 9/1/2012Upscale facility with 2 Courses, one private
Played the T. Fazio Oaks course. On many holes, elevated view from the tee shows how the hole is intended to be played. Then up to you to execute. Well-placed green side bunkers to encourage safer or riskier angle and shot selection. Overall, very good mix of hole layouts, green depth, and elevation changes that make things interesting and fun. One of the best ranges in the area. Great service from the time you are greeted till you complete. The two times we played, offered and agreed to cut short range to tee off early. Pace of play was as fast as you wanted. Very enjoyable.
Terrific assessment!
For all the reasons you laid out here, this golf course is NOT meant for the high-handicapper. And it will challenge the game of even the most patient mid-handicapper.
