Pearl at Kalauao
Played On 03/09/2022Troon Course … Really?
We’ve been coming to Oahu for years and have played The Pearl many times. Troon took over management of the course since we were here last before Covid. We had high expectations, but unfortunately the conditions are actually worse than the last year we were here. Maybe the aftermath of Covid?
Turtle Bay Resort - Arnold Palmer Course
Played On 01/20/2022Albatros (not the golf kind)!
We have been visiting Oahu for 11 years and try to get to Turtle Bay each trip. It's not the quality of our original visit, and disappointing that The Fazio Course is closed since early Covid, but always love to make the trek to the North Shore, visit and play. It's a great layout and challenge, although the greens could use some TLC. The protected Albatros habitat on 15/16 was a pleasant surprise. We were able to see 2 without getting too close.
Hawaii Prince Golf Club - A/B Nines
Played On 02/16/2016Hawaiian Prince C/B 9's
We're Canadian visitors and play here fairly regularly. We love the course but greens and tee boxes could use a little extra care and attention. Having 27 holes is also a bonus.
Ewa Beach Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2016Beautiful & Challenging Course
We’re Canadian snow birds. Ewa is our favourite course and we play it regularly. Of the handful of courses we play, it is easily in the best condition tee to green. It’s very beautiful and straight forward unless you neglect to consider the large kiawe trees that tend hang on either sides of the fairway. Shots slightly off line may put the branches of these large trees in play. Greens are in excellent condition, but usually hard and quick. Staff are courteous and friendly making this course a great overall choice.
Royal Kunia Country Club
Played On 01/08/2015Some Beautiful Views
Overall enjoyed the round for the price we paid on Golf Now. Definitely wouldn't pay full $150 rate. It's a nice layout that with a little extra love and care could be a beautiful course once again. Most of the bunkers were hard and could use a top up of sand. Some great views of Diamond Head and downtown Honolulu. Gas golf cart we had could barely stop the brakes were so bad . All the carts looked like they'd been around for a while, but had lots of power. Nothing special about the club house either. Having said all this, still worth playing at the right rate.
Royal Hawaiian Golf Club
Played On 3/4/2013Jurassic Park Island Green
One of the most beautiful courses we’ve played, with the setting in the mountains and jungle making views spectacular. Having said this, it is very challenging. Their version of the "Island Green" includes nothing but gnarly trees, shrubs and dense vegetation between tee & green! See pic. The course has lots of these ravine-like hazards crossing or parallel to fairways. With water hazards you usually have a look, with these if you go in, you don't even bother! Crazy! A beautiful course and location, you just need to understand going in ... you WILL lose balls! Great course to play our last round on! Well worth the trip!
Makaha Valley Country Club
Played On 2/26/2013Makaha Valley Country Club
Cart paths were very old and rough, however, very beautiful setting, and for the most part, in good condition. Be prepared for 3 putt greens! It’s the craziest thing ... probably because the course was right along the base of the mountains. Most of the greens on the back 9 looked like they were severely sloped one way, but actually broke the opposite. Tough day on the greens for everyone! Worth the hour drive from Kailua.
Olomana Golf Links
Played On 1/22/2013Beautiful location and setting, but course in rough condition.
Standing water on a number of holes. Fairways in rough condition. Got a discounted t-time. No way would pay full price.
