good shape

The course is in very good condition and seems to have avoided the same fate as many places around KC. The fairways have suffered only a minor amount do to the rain. The Greens are in good shape and rolled true.

Narrow Narrow

The bad, we got of the Tee twenty minutes late. Waited three to five minutes on every tee and second shot. Two folks we played with are regulars and said that is the norm. The course is short and the front can be played from the whites with irons only. Hit it strait errant shots will most always cost you strokes. The greens are in good shape and a normal speed with devilish pin placements. The fairways are in good shape and I can tell you that most of the trees have grass under them. The bunkers need sand. This is an old style course we’re accuracy trumps distance. With the exception of a 187 yard par three, over a gully, up hill, into the wind the course is accessible. But be ready for a six hour round (counting the delay at the start). We played the afternoon shift so perhaps and early start would be better.

good day with plenty of time to consider you next shot

The pace of play is normally 4 hours and 20 minutes. We played to 5 hours and 40 minutes.
The starter does a good job of letting you know the course rules and the way to pace you game. But someone playing perhaps 8 to 10 holes in front of us did not pay attention. The pace picked up after the 9th and 10th holes.
If hanging out with you group after the round for a beer is your thing this is not your place. It has a pro shop that is combined with the tennis club. The warm-up area is a net and AstroTurf tee boxs about 10 yards back. Nice green for putting while waiting for your start.

Good course shows a lot of play

The course has a links style layout. The winds off of the river gives it a links-ish feel. There is an “Island” green that extends into a boaters party cove that should add a nice finish.

The tee boxes need some TLC and the fairways need to come back. Should be in good shape for summer.

Return after ten years

I played Eaglevines ten years ago and came back for a second tasting. This is a beautiful course with spanning views of the vineyards your playing through. There are many elevation changes and shot making holes. I played early and there was a heavy dew. This made the course play longer than you might expect. The rough is tough when dry and brutal when wet. Even balls in the fairway stopped short. The greens were very smooth and rolled true. They are hard so holding from a long shot was a challenge. I didn’t use it, but they have a ground based drone that will bring food to you. In addition to the cart service.

Early season conditions

Most of the holes are strait away in a what you see is what you get style with only a few dog legs and hazards mixed in. An area in the middle was like a "shooting gallery" with parallel fairways running back and forth for about five holes. I think this helped to slow down play waiting for miss shaped shots to be played by golfers from the other holes. The fairways were mostly in good shape but the rough had may bald places. The greens were nicely grassed but slow and bumpy. We played 18 in about 4 hours and 45 minutes. Not terrible for the first warm day in months.

Tight lines

Great walking layout but that caused a lot of "Fore!" calls. The green to tee and fairway to fairway distances is close. The course is not long playing 6300 yards (though many of the Tee boxes were up) from the back. The fairways are slim and lined with trees. The greens are moderately sized with some challenging contours.
The greens looked to be punched within the last few weeks. they were a decent speed but bumpy.
The pace of play was terrible. I had an eight 22 Tee time and did not get off until almost eight 45. Then waited around for a five hour round. Need to do something.

Nice layout but...

We had a mid morning Tee. We were met by a fantastic starter who gave us good directions and organized everyone to get off at the right time.

The Course layout is very good. I think it plays fair but has enough challenge to make a good day of it. The front is shorter than the back meaning get your score early.

Unlike some other reviewers I don't believe the condition is befitting of a course in this price range. The fairway had significant dead zones, the rough was dirt in a lot of places. The greens had been punched about two weeks before and look to be coming back. But there are a lot of weedy spots in the greens. Enough to cause several putt to not role true to line. The greens fringe was worse with weeds and uneven grass growth.

I would give it another few weeks for the greens to come back and only take the hot deals until they get the unwanted grass and weeds fixed.

Finally, i don't think you should take this into consideration to play, the conditions vs. price are more of a concern but I do feel it is worth noting here. We were harassed on the sixth hole for slow play. "You need to pick it up. There is a whole hole open in front of you. Your backing up the whole course." This was a little strange because we had waited on every hole until the sixth. But our group understands the aggravation of slow play and we conceded putts on the hole and moved on fast. To find the group in front of us on the fairway of the very next whole and the following hole we were waiting again. I really don't appreciate unnecessary harassment. We all make mistakes but come-on-man we get out there for relaxation and getting up on us was uncalled for.

watch out for the rough

The greens are smooth and good speed, the fairways are in good shape and filled in. The rough was thick and a Challenger. Sometimes making ok shots hard to find as the ball sank down.

Good day

The greens were a little slow but true. the Fairways looked good as I drove over them to find my ball in the woods. The rough was high enough for a challenge but still able to find your ball.

Walked

Walking friendly but be prepared for the Hills

The greens were perfect. The fairways were in great condition. The rough had some areas were the lack of rain took its toll and made for some hard surface shots.
The main defense to par is the elevation change and sloping fairways. The dry conditions made for a lot of role and much of down the slope to the right or left of the fairway.

I did not use the club house. But as I walked though it looked a bit dated and could use some TLC. That is why I did to rate the food and gave the overall a average. It was typical of a many muni course clubhouse. The course itself is in better condition than the clubhouse.

Decent course that needs some water

The layout is only challenging for its length, playing ~6500 from the Middle tees. There are limited bunkers and not many water hazards. The set up now may be more like 6200 but there were several +400 yrd par 4s and a 220 par three.

The fairways and greens are in good condition but if you play off the fairway by more that a few yards the ground is hard-packed and the grass is dead flat from lack of water. The Tee boxes are showing the use of a busy season. In some of the bunkers there was almost no sand. One of the guys I played with chipped his sand-wedge on the stone found inches under the sand.

The pace for 18, riding was almost six hours. Our threesome waited on almost every shot. As did the group behind us and the group in front of us. I could not see further but felt there should have been a ranger out to get it moving a bit.

Thanks for trying Mattawang. Sorry you did not enjoy your round more. The rough is a result of a long and dry summer, I can assure you our Superintendent has worked hard to deliver what he can.

Also of note, your estimate of the time it took to play does not match our records kept by the ranger. We show a 4:40 minute round for our slowest round that day.

Hopefully you will come back for another try, our bunker work will be beginning this coming week.

what you see is what you get

The coures has a flat layout with very little to give you a hard time. The course plays 6200 from the middle tees. That is a bit long as it is a par 70. most of the holes are strait away or small doglegs. The greens are in good shape but a little slow. The staff is friendly enougth but does have a little click for the local players who are there aften.

Great outing for a great price

The course is in good condition. The only issue is that Harmony as spoiled us with excellent conditions and the course was slightly off of that. They have been hit hard with the recent wet weather. I'm sure that issues that are related to that condition will be corrected soon.

We purchased a "Hot Deal" from GolfNow for 18 holes and a cart. The course is in very good condition. There are may water coolers on the course and had a timely refreshment cart on the course. Greens are scheduled to be punched end of August.

Course in good shape but pace of play was far too slow.

Don't let the short distance from the white make you shy away from playing in forward. There are enough narrow fairways and rolling greens to keep you on your toes.

This is a shot makers course that requires that you play to your shot. The yardage book for a buck is a great help.

I walked the course and found the up and down a challenge but the layout is overall good for walking.

Challenging layout with some great holes. Greens are tough. Pace of play was not so good

This is a great course with many carries that make it a challenge. visually it is beautiful to see. Once you get to the greens you still have a tough time getting down with some very interesting layouts. The holes are very far apart so walking is not a first option. The carts are in very poor condition. I have been there 4 times this year and would go back in spite of some of the short comings.

Hilly layout with many tough angled fair ways Good course but 55 bucks is too high

Enjoyed the outing. The course seems to be coming make from some disrepair but coming along nicely. The long tees are a challenge with some long shots and narrow tree lined fairways. The hilly terrain laid out some sloped fairways that made keeping the ball up on the short grass tough.

I will go back but on a discount greens fee.
