Wolfdancer Golf Club
Played On 12/23/2015Best Greens in Central Texas
The greenskeeper at this course should be proud because these are literally the best greens in central Texas. A really solid experience overall - nice short game area, range, clubhouse, outstanding customer service - and incredible conditioning on this golf course. Great job Wolfdancer team - I'll be coming back out soon !!
Crystal Falls Golf Course
Played On 4/26/2013Well-maintained, challenging course for the $$
The staff at Crystal Falls is doing a great job - the course was in outstanding condition. Much better condition than in the past. This is a challenging course. You have to keep the ball in play from the teebox to do well here. Only downside was the complete absence of bunkers - you won't be working on your sand game here. Anyway, great job Crystal Falls !
Forest Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2012Forest Creek in good shape
Course was in really good shape when I played this past Sunday (10/28). They also have a great practice area, including a range, putting green and extra practice green where you can hit long (up to 70-80 yard) pitch shots. A good value for $50-60; a great value for $40-50. Well done Forest Creek !
Teravista Golf Club
Played On 10/21/2012Great value at $55 (but not at $70+)
Teravista is a really good course for $50-55, but I don't know about their normal green fees ($70 +). I believe at one point this was a Troon golf facility, and it was fantastic then, but is slipping a little bit now - grass around tees needed cutting and NONE of the tee markers were set out on the entire front nine. I was playing at 11:15 am on Sunday, so this is not a good sign. The greens were rolling well and the fairways were in good shape though.
Jimmy Clay Golf Course
Played On 9/9/2012Good layout
I've grown up playing Jimmy Clay and have enjoyed the layout over the years. Still a fun track although we had a couple of temporary greens (looks like the regular greens will be back in commission soon). Overall: it's a pretty straightforward course with some interesting holes; has a lot more length than Lion's but less interesting than Morris Williams. The Jimmy Clay greens need help.
