Deer Island Country Club
Played On 03/10/2017Very Nice
While down here in Florida from Upstate NY on a golf trip, I got to sneak over and play this course. I'm very glad I did. Like the reviews said, bring some extra golf balls. Not much around the course for food/drinks afterward. The conditions were not as good as Mission Inn down the road, but still very good. I would play this again, however, I would not make it my "base camp" golf course because there is no where to eat/drink around for miles.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - Las Colinas Course
Played On 03/10/2017Best In Show
Finally was able to play several other area courses
(Deer Island, Red Tail, Arlington) to make a comparison. Both Mission Inn courses were the BEST. High marks in every category. Don't leave Florida without playing here at Mission Inn. The people are top notch and the experience was worth every dollar. Did I mention the world famous bakery just down the road!
RedTail Golf Club
Played On 03/08/2017Hey! Some People Just Don't Belong
First thing you see as you enter the pro shop, is the sign behind you over the club house, "Members Only"
Then the first words you hear in the pro shop, "the chipping green is for members only". Then when you finally arrive at the driving range, you get the honor of warming up on the "guest range". Warm and fuzzy!
Course was excellent, worth the drive over from Mission Inn for just 1 day. Yes, 1 day only. Tons of more friendliness over at Mission Inn than this place. If you can stomach the snobbishness, then don't skip this course.
Falconhead Golf Club
Played On 2/12/2013Beautiful Course
Excellent course with many different tee boxes. Staff was outstanding and helpful. I enjoyed the variety of holes the most.
Greens were in great shape. Only negative was the driving range, allowed to hit from the mats only. Problem with that,
the matts are on a 5-10 degree angle upward. I couldn't drive to the first tee fast enough. Overall, a must course to play while
in the Austin area. Also many area places to eat, good traffic
flow in the area.
Roy Kizer Golf Course
Played On 1/20/2013played in late January
Being from Upstate NY I found Roy Kizer ( January 2013)
Excellent in variety of holes, excellent priced, friendly locals.
Greens were extremely fast compared to northern courses.
Pace of play was a bit slow, but nobody cared. Practice range was below average..no distance markers. Snack bar needs major attention. Fairway grass was dormat but very playable.
Wildlife along the course and views were an added bonus.
Enjoyed this course and will play it over and over.
