About

I've enjoyed being a recreational golfer for 20+ years, including frequent participation in local charity and non-profit tournaments as well as weekly rounds with good golfing buddies. Getting shorter distance off the tee these days is OK, as accuracy is replacing yardage, and am proud of my handicap index staying below 20 at age 71. Love playing many of the daily-fee courses we are blessed with here in the San Francisco Bay area and thanks to being a Golf Now member for more than a decade, it's our primary source of choosing and booking tee times. Thanks!

No drought conditions at Diablo Creek

Fairways and greens at This East Bay course are in impeccable condition.... You would never suspect we are in the midst of a 4-year drought. What's a One word description for conditions of all 18 greens? Velvet! Brand spanking new electric carts and a well-maintained practice facility adjacent to clubhouse adds to the experience. Our round was completed in under 4 hours on a warm Tuesday afternoon with the pace of play very satisfactory. We'll be back here next time we visit Contra Costa County.

Delta View continues to be a local favorite of mine, thanks to its unique layout and well-maintained greens and fairways.

Our group plays at Delta View at least once a month. We return because this muni is well above average in both its design and in the way it is maintained. We understand legendary golf course architect Alistar McKenzie designed one of the nines; the course is challenging, but very playable; it has frequent elevation changes between tee and green, and many holes demand accuracy off the tee or you can easily go through a couple of sleeves of your favorite ball - - and especially when those coastal winds blow through East Contra Costa County and down on Delta View. A friendly staff in the pro shop and the grill make us feel welcome and anxious to return again.
