Plantation Palms Golf Club
Played On 02/10/2017Really coming along
I've played this course now 5 or 6 times since it reopened late last year. Each time, the course just gets better and better. The greens are super fast now, especially compared to when it first reopened. The tee boxes are in great shape, and the fairways are recovering nicely. The layout of this course is great. It is very challenging, especially for a high handicapper like me, but fun nonetheless. The blue tees should actually be the black (pro), the whites the blues, etc, and they should add another set of shorter tees. I typically play the white tees at other courses and find the gold tees at plantation palms to be similar. The pace of play is a bit slow and I think it is due to the "renovation pricing" that is in effect. For under $30, everyone and anyone is playing this course right now so be prepared for a 5 hour round. The refreshment cart is great, and so is the restaurant on site - Mulligans Irish Pub. The driving range is still not open, so teeing off on the first hole without a proper warm up is always interesting, but it is due to open the first week of March.

Greens and fairways in great condition. Fun course, friendly staff. Best value in range balls in Tampa.
Hernando Oaks Golf & Country Club
Played On 11/14/2014Nice course
First time playing. Fairways were in good condition as were the greens. Back 9 is scenic and very peaceful (surrounded by woods and no houses). Would definitely play again.

The Groves Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/24/2014Fun little course
Second time playing this golf course. It is not a par 72 like some of the descriptions say, it is more like a par 63. Lots of par 3's and par 4's and only one par 5. Challenging iron play, with lots of hazards. The entire course was recently aerated so the greens weren't in the best shape, but the price was right and the pace was great. No drink cart at this course, which may actually help with lower scores. Also, the 18th hole is very challenging. I have no idea why that hole is a Par 4. It does almost a U-shape around thick woods, so getting up on 2 is extremely difficult. Other then that, fun course with a fast pace.
Heritage Harbor
Played On 05/04/2014Always fun
I've played Heritage Harbor at least a dozen times now and each time is always fun. The greens are usually always outstanding, the fairways forgiving, and there are some very challenging Par 5's that humble this weekend duffer. Sometimes the pace can be slower than anticipated due to the popularity of this course, but usually not too bad. Great value for the money.
