Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/19/2017Not your typical Florida course
This is one of Florida's oldest courses. The layout is basically medium to narrow fairways with giant oak trees lining both sides of the fairways. If you keep the ball in the fairway, a good score is easily attainable. Put it in the oaks and it will cost you strokes. The course was in excellent condition. The fairways were green and had some give to them. The greens were well maintained and the ball rolled true. Very few fairway bunkers and water only on two holes and even on those holes it only comes into play with a poor shot. My biggest criticism is that all the holes look alike. The only difference is the length and a few are doglegs. I would have preferred a little more variety.
TPC Tampa Bay
Played On 04/20/2016A Top Quality Course
The course was in excellent condition. The fairways had plenty of grass and very few divot marks, The grass was cut short, so if you hit a ball that rolls out you probably got an additional 20 yds on your shots. The greens were immaculate,, but very challenging. A lot of undulation and very, very fast. Above the hole putts were hard. You can see why this course hosted the Champions Tour. The staff were very friendly.Too many times, I've encountered practice greens to have a different speed than the actual greens. This is one of the few courses where the practice putting green actually matches the greens on the course. Definitely, will come back.
Summerfield Crossings Golf Club
Played On 09/30/2015Course needs attention
Then problem with this course was its condition. A majority of the greens were in really bad shape. Several fairways had more weeds than grass, and some had grass growing in them. The excuse that we had a lot of rain is just that an excuse. i have played too many other courses in the area who seem to be able to maintain decent greens.

My buddy and i drove up from Tampa to play the course. There are some courses that are pleasing to the eye. This is one of them. The waterfalls behind a couple of the greens was cool to look at. The only drawback was that the greens had recently been aerated and were a bit bumpy. It would have been nice to have known this when we made the reservations. If we had known we may have waited a couple of more weeks before playing here. The fairways are wide open and very generous, as long as you stay out of the numerous fairway bunkers and waste areas. Another pleasant surprise was how dry the course was. With all the rain we have been having it was nice to play on a dry course. We will be back.
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
Played On 03/28/2014Great Golfing Experience
Played the North course, which is so different from the South course. It's a links type course with numerous changes in elevation and many, many fairway bunkers. The greens are large and fast. This is a great course, but especially for snowbirds, because it is different from most northern courses. Wide fairways, few trees, but lies that are generally above or below your feet. It may look easy, but plays tough. The greens are the biggest challenges, especially if you are not use to fast greens with a lot of breaks. It's a great golfing experience. I highly recommend it.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 03/19/2014A Great target course
I have played this course numerous times and it's always well maintained. It does require accuracy off the tee. Keep your drives in play and allow your short game determine your score. The greens vary in size from wide, but not very deep, to deep, but not very wide, to large greens with numerous breaks in them. The biggest complaint I have is the difference between the blue and white tees. Blue has a slope rating of 133, while white is 119. I would like to see them add 200 yds to the white tees and there is room to do it. This would players who find the whites not as challenging, but the blues too difficult.
Quail Hollow Golf Course
Played On 12/27/2013A weel maintained course
If you like a course where both the fairways and greens are well maintained this is the perfect course. The new ownership has done a great job in bringing this course back to a great playing condition. The course is not overly challenging, but for the average golfer it offers an enjoyable experience.
Pebble Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2013A fair course for all abilities
The layout is a fair test for all golfers regardless of skill level. The fairways are always kept in good shape. They will be soft and wet during the summer months, so getting roll of the tee will be a challenge. The greens play fast in the winter and slow in the summer, again because of the weather. It's one of the few courses that have really nice white sand in the bunkers. For the price it's worth it.
Links of Lake Bernadette
Played On 5/3/2013A good choice
I play Lake Bernadette on a regular basis, because the layout is a fair one. I think there is enough of a challenge for all types of golfers. Whether you are a low handicap or am senior, the tees are set for you. The other reason I like playing here is that they keep the course in great shape. Regardless of season the fairways have plenty of grass and are green. Same for the greens.
