Cobb's Glen Country Club
Played On 11/23/2022Bad bunkers
I enjoy playing Cobbs. Some shots have to be precise or missed in the right spots. Greens on 4,5,9 can be absolutely brutal. Several others (11,13,14 and 18) can be tough also. Several holes water and trees are a factor. But the bunkers are absolutely TERRRRRIBLE! Several are just packed dirt and are unplayable. You can have a 80 degree wedge and still not get under the ball. Please Cobbs, make the bunkers playable or just fill the things in and plant grass.
The Walker Golf Course at Clemson University
Played On 10/27/2022#9
If there is anything I could say negatively, it's that #9 is just too hard. Played with one of the members today and he brought up that they could convert #5 to a par 4 and convert #9 to a par 5. This would not negatively harm the integrity of the course. #9 has to be the single most difficult hole of any course in this area. It really sucks to have to play layup on a par 4 and play for bogey and I'm a mid handicapper. A high handicapper or a weekend warrior has absolutely no chance at par. A good drive from the mid tees still leaves you 180 plus. With a pond, an elevated green that feeds the pond if your a yard short. A green with break pretty much everywhere. Green side bunkers. A fairway creek. 2 fairway bunkers. Just a brutal par 4. Otherwise, this course is a beauty.
Chimney Oaks Golf Club
Played On 10/05/2022Very nice course. Well taken care of. Drove about an hour and was not disappointed. Greens were quick and very slippery. Tournament the following day may have influenced pin locations. Highly recommend. Only public courses on par with this course, in my opinion are Cateechee or Walker course or Arrowhead Pointe. Chimney does not have the lakeside appeal and the construction noise could be a bother to some but I play alone a lot and put headphones in so noise doesn’t bother me. Would definitely go back.
Pine Lake Golf Club
Played On 08/26/2022Single players
Course is in good shape. Small greens and slope of greens make for a tough time on a short golf course. #16 is a beast, 220 uphill par 3 with a false front and 2 tier green with lots of slope. Recently bought new golf carts with built in GPS. Same exact carts they use at Cateechee. Greens are slower than most courses.

Played On 05/27/2022Course was fantastic as usuall. Tips are fun hitting 4 iron or hybrid into par 3's.
Cateechee
Played On 05/12/2022Half a mile #17
Course is absolutely immaculate. Be ready playing from the tips. 39 front 43 back. #17 was playing 633 yards. That's correct, 633 YARDS!!!!!! The course and staff are always fantastic. Only course I've played where the staff offers to clean clubs at the end of the round. Highly recommend this golf course to anyone. But, if you are not a low handicap you may wanna skip the tips.
The Walker Golf Course at Clemson University
Played On 02/15/2022As a Gamecock fan it pains me to admit anything with the name Clemson attached to it is good. That being said this was a fantastic course. The vacant tennis courts was an eyesore but the golf course was terrific and their signature tigerpaw hole, #17 is a sight to behold. Greens were quick. Bunkers were perfect with white fluffy sand. Practice areas were in great shape. Best driving range I've hit on. Played from the purple/white tees. I'm normally a white t box and a mid to low 80's player, (the decade of great music by the way) but shot a 94. Terrible score on the front 51. Recovered to shoot a 43 on the back that felt like a 39. Will be back for redemption of that front side.
Arrowhead Pointe At Lake Richard B. Russell
Played On 11/09/2021Golf course gem
Must play if your within an hours drive or further. Played through Golfnow for 20$. Absolutely stunning views on holes 12 through 16 as the course nestles around Lake Russell. Not a house in sight. Peaceful golf. No cars, no barking dogs. Plan your golf getaway here.
River Falls Plantation
Played On 08/11/202194 degrees with a heat index well above 100 and no water on the golf course. Every water cooler was removed due to covid. Yet, personal coolers are not permitted and golf carts do not have coolers on them. Only course in upstate SC that I've played that does not have on course water coolers, this 16 months after covid. Will not be playing here again until this is changed.
Arrowhead Pointe At Lake Richard B. Russell
Played On 05/11/2021Golf at its best.
Hidden gem on the southeast. Better scenic layout than any public or most private courses in the area. Holes 13-16 are world class scenic holes. Highly recommend this course to anyone of any skill level. Rough can be ROUGH! Just keep it in the short grass and you can score. Shot 91 with a triple on #8 and a 9 on #9.
Cateechee
Played On 01/04/2021Played this course through Golf now at a bargain of the regular price. Amenities are unmatched for any course I've played that is a public course(never played a private course). Attendant even offered to wipe my clubs off when we finished!!!!! Had a air valve to blow off golf shoes. If you get the chance play this course!!!!
Cobb's Glen Country Club
Played On 12/19/2020Bunkers need some daily tlc and they need a truck load of sand for each. Old saying of don't hit in em and you don't have to hit out of em should be abolished. Bunkers are supposed to be sandy. It's unfair to try to hit a bunker shot out of hard dirt.
Arrowhead Pointe At Lake Richard B. Russell
Played On 08/31/2020Beautiful golf course. Well maintained. Hit the fairways or you may be in for a long day if you are not used to hitting from 3 inch rough. Worth a lot more than they charge to play. Back side is as beautiful a course as you'll find in these parts.
Arrowhead Pointe At Lake Richard B. Russell
Played On 07/17/2017Little slice of golf paradise.
I am a low 90 handicaper who mostly plays local corses around the Anderson SC area. Nothing i have played in the upstate of SC compares to the sheer beauty and golfing purity that i experienced at Arrowhead point. Playing golf with no houses or roads with vehicles racing by is so different. The course is a challege especially if you get off the fairway but id gladly shoot 100 (shot 97) to play this course daily. It is the only course ive given a 5 star too.
Highland Walk at Victoria Bryant
Played On 6/11/2013Had a great time on this difficult course even though score did not reflect it.
For someone used to easier flat courses in the Upstate S.C. area this course was a lot different. Course requires accuracy off the tee and even then sometimes you would have a testy lie. If you are not used to sidehill/downhill/uphill lies this os not your course but i would play it again for the beauty of ot the challenge and the price.Greens are fabulous. no dry spots or burnt up grass
