The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes
Played On 01/26/2014A Course in Great Condition
This is one of my favorite courses to play in Orlando. For a golfer of my handicap, the course has a great balance of being forgiving, yet challenging. I have never seen this course in bad shape. It is always in spectacular condition and the staff has always been top notch. Regardless which tees you play you have to make smart choices with club selection. All around just a great golf course to play.
Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2013Great Value, Super Fun to Play
This is a great course to play and not far from Orlando. The course conditions are not going to match anything you get at a resort course or a top notch club, but the course is one of the most fun to play in all of Orlando. We make it a point to get to Sanctuary Ridge once a month. The elevation changes remind you of playing in the Carolinas, and they present unique challenges not seen at most Florida courses. The carts are gas, which is not ideal, but it's necessary as you can't make it up all the steep hills on the course with an electric cart. Overall, this course is just super fun to play. You get over the fact that the course conditions are just average as you have so much fun playing these unique holes. The pace of play can be slow as there are a lot of locals who play the course and it gets a lot of traffic. For the money, you can't beat this course.
Harmony Golf Preserve
Played On 10/13/2013Beautiful Course, A Little Out of the Way
Harmony is a beautiful course. You're typically taking golf shots and trying to avoid all the deer and wild birds flying around. It's a drive to get out there, but worth the ride. The course has some real risk/reward holes where club selection is vital as you decide to take on some hazzard carries. It's also generally wide enough that despite your handicap you can play and get some relief for wayward tee shots. Most of the trouble lies around the greens. I have played the course around five times and it has always been in great shape. As it's a little out of the way, you're not fighting a lot of other golfers and the pace of play really depends on you.
Riviera Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2013Good Course for Bad Weather
I played this course after three days of very hard rain and it was about 50 degrees. Overall, I was very impressed with how well the course had drained and played in those wet conditions. It was cart path only, but the greens were in great shape. The course is obviously cared for and well-maintained. The clubhouse and pro shop are not very high end, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. Due to the weather our group played fast, but I would love to play this course again in better conditions. It's a great place to pay for the money.
Muirfield Village Golf Club
Played On 09/06/2013Best Course I've Ever Played!
Jack's place is an absolute gem! It is the most pristine course I've ever played, and no detail is overlooked in how the course is set up and manicured. You'd expect a course that hosts a top-notch tournament each year to be special, but I was overly impressed with the course conditions and overall facilities. The clubhouse and course staff were super friendly and accomodating. The elevation changes really challenge you, and you have to be smart off the tee because your misses aren't very easily forgiven. The greens were the best I've ever played and were very fast. But they were also very receptive to holding balls. All in, this course was amazing and I highly recommend playing if ever granted the opportunity!
