OK I am a local and have been playing Mesquite for years. It has been in poor shape the last 4-5 years but now the level is even lower. We had high winds two weeks ago and they still haven't cleared the debris out so losing your ball under a pile of palm frowns was another hazard to deal with. The cart bridges are in such poor shape we cringed when using them,. Pieces of the bridge straps were lying on top of the bridge! It was a cartoon moment but no really funny. The greens and fairways were in decent shape but this is April and after May they turn down the water and it's like playing on concrete. This place must be a huge tax write off for somebody because there is no way they are making money and it shows. If you want to play it do it soon. It will be closed like many other courses here victim of the change in the popularity of golf and the need for more development space for condos.

Great little course known to locals and owned by the City of palm Springs. I had a great round but it was marred on almost every hole of the back nine by workers on lawn mowers at the tee boxes, greens and fairways. I was waiting most of the time for them to clear and had to chip over them on one hole as they would not move their vehicles out of my way.
Granted it was a 6:05 tee time but by that time it was past 7:30 and it seemed rude of them not to be more considerate. Some were but most were not. Bad management when the workers control the pace and flow of the golf course. Otherwise a good round and worth the price of $50.

This course is a must play for anyone visiting the desert. a great vale especially in summer when rates are lower yet the course is still kept up nice. Same with the North course. A class act for west/south palm springs.
