Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club
Played On 01/18/2023Really nice track
We really enjoyed our first visit to Dove Valley Ranch. The course affords lots of space in an open desert environment. The course has lots of ups and downs and curves offering being bold or a bit more cautious. The electric cards and GPS were excellent. The back nine does have a few holes that would be easier to play after our first look of these holes.
Our only criticism is that the bag drop staff was disinterested and almost rude. The pro shop staff and on course food and beverage were very friendly and gracious.
Escena Golf Club
Played On 03/05/2019Good course, good value
Escena continues to impress me. I do not normally enjoy Nicklaus designs but this one is fair and interesting.
The layout is varied- good short and long holes, water hazards and bunkering are not too penal. The turf is well groomed. My only course issue is with the bunkers- too little sand and some rocks and liner issues.
All in all, a good course at a fair price. Thanks
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 02/26/2019Excellent layout- poor course conditions
Desert Dunes is an excellent layout- varied and challenging. However, the course conditions make playing there an unpleasant experience. The cost is low for such a god design but the conditions make it no bargain.
The bunkers have mud pies at many of the bottoms and no more than a half inch of sand anywhere.
Several greens need to be rebuilt. Balls hit to several green middle can not only run off the green but fall into the water or deep grass bunkers.
The fairway turf is frequently very sparse and thin.
Rams Hill Golf Club
Played On 02/04/2019Outstanding Golf Experience
Rams Hill was highly recommended by friends. The drive from La Quinta is about 80 minutes but well worth it. The scenery enroute is spectacular.
Every aspect of the Rams Hill experience was outstanding. Reception was low key but warm and professional. The range uses grass tees and lots of targets with Pro-V 1x range balls.
The starter was friendly and helpful with a few valuable tips.
Every hole is unique, scenic and beautiful. Every hole features expansive view of mountains, deserts, clouds and rainbows.
We met several members who were very friendly and big fans of the course.
The accommodations are well out of range of errant shots and feature golf course and distant views.
We loved it and will be back.
Maui Nui Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2017Great value on very good track
My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised. We got a great rate right after noon. Pace of play was terrific at under 3 1/2 hours
The course was well laid out with lots of elevation changes, a few water hazards, well placed bunkers and undulating greens.
Course conditioning was very good with too many unfolded divots- not the club’s fault as divot sand was available in multiple locations.
The staff was a little gruff but very efficient- not a bad trade off.
All in all- highly recommended.
Wild Rock Golf Club - Wild Rock Championship Course
Played On 07/13/2017Top course for the money
Wild Rock is a first class golf track at a fraction of the cost of Whistling Staights or Erin Hills.
The staff was very accommodating and easily arranged an earlier tee time than the one we booked and helped us play through three flower groups.
The holes were often very picturesque and sometimes dramatic. There were plenty of hazards- water, sand, fescue and forest but the fairways were generous and Line of sight was almost always available.
The layout is large and a power cart is a virtual necessity and the state of the art GPS on the cart was very helpful.
The hot deal we got on this excellent course was like stealing.
The course is well away from the blitz and clutter of Wisconsin Dells- indeed, an oasis of calm and naturalness.
Escena Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2015Excellent Course and Excellent Value
Escena is a well- designed and well- conditioned golf course. The fairways are generous and the greens and green surrounds relatively tame by Nicklaus standards. The clubhouse and pro shop are beautiful and ideal for a drink after a round. For some reason, the course is not that busy yet and green fees are very reasonable by Valley standards.-- Highly recommended.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 01/27/2015Good value
Desert Dunes is good value in the Coachella Valley. It is a challenging Robert Trent Jones Jr. track but is not in very good condition and does not have great beauty. Although wide open in the sense of no housing, shots off the fairway/rough are in the desert with hostile bushes, rocks and scrub. Being north of I-10, it is very prone to high winds, making the course even more challenging.
The staff is very pleasant and helpful.
Valley at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 01/19/2015Excellent resort course
I had been warned that course conditions were not always excellent and that the pace of play could be very slow. To the contrary, the course was in excellent shape given the heavy traffic- greens, tees, fairway and rough were all well maintained. The pace of play was a little slow- approaching 4 1/2 hours but not outrageous. The staff were very friendly- especially John the Starter. We are headed back today to try The Palms course.
Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course
Played On 12/19/2014Homes too close
One common problem is confusion between Mission Hills Country Club (Pete Dye course) and Westin Mission Hills Resort (Pete Dye course). The other couple we were to play with ended up on the two different courses!
The other major problem for me is house lining both sides of most of the holes. Many have netting up to stop balls and I spoke to a home owner who had to replace multiple windows hit by stray balls.
Short or very straight hitters should not have a problem and the course itself is fine- a bit tame for a Dye course.
Shadow Ridge Golf Club
Played On 12/15/2012Excellent golf experience
The only Faldo course in the Palm Springs area lived up to its reputation- challenging but fair; interesting but not eccentric. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Course was in good shape but the tees were a little chopped up. I would definitely recommend it.
Dear pengeo12,
Thank you very much for your feedback and for playing our facility.
It can be a bit confusing for our guests with the Mission Hills Country Club next door. I will double check to make sure that the address for our facility is printed on the confirmation emails sent from Golfnow.
As for the houses, most if not all golf courses in residential areas are designed in this manner. As it may not be the perfect situation, we feel that the housing is quite a bit out of the way compared to similar facilities in the area.
We hope to see you soon and have a great holiday,
Will Foust
