Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort
Played On 10/24/2020Don’t allow scooters. Force single riders to pair with strangers. Not Covid friendly.
Simple as the review says. They charge $16.50 per person to ride in a cart, or walk. They don’t allow scooters because that would eat into their margin and allow too much fun. It certainly isn’t because their turf is nice.
Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
Played On 04/07/2019Accidentally ended up here
I play a lot of golf in the Phoenix and surrounding areas, thought I booked a long course with par 5s and long par 4s, etc...at least 6000 yards. My fault for not checking, but their fault for charging that price point. They are the only course that allows walking that I’ve played which is good to know, I like walking. Really nothing special about this course to justify charging what other courses that are 6000+ yards are starting to charge. But also nothing horrible about it either if what you want is a course of only par 3s and driveable par 4 greens. I did nail an eagle on a 240 par 4 which was a nice little false confidence booster. Won’t be back though.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2019Not just value for the money.
I play 3-4 rounds a week in the valley, so am always looking for a decent deal. Thought I was driving 25 miles for one of those and was happy to do so. But then Ingot there and found a course that has to be maintained as frequently and well as any other course in the valley. Including ones that charge over $100 a round this time of year. Not an easy course either, plenty of water holes, huge rolling hills, greens lined with bunkers. This course has it all and I can wait to come back. Less than $50...wow.
Kokopelli Golf Course
Played On 02/01/2019Massive improvements here! Great value
When I first moved here 3 years ago, the normals complaints here were hadn’t grass, flooding, mosquitos, just hadn’t course management. But that it had potential. I don’t know if they have a new superintendent or what but something has changed for the better here. Now the only complaints I hear are that it is challenging. Great course and I love that I live so close. Am happy to play here multiple times a week.

This is a great course if you want a challenge and don’t want to pay $275. They hold qualifiers here and for good reason. But if you want a resort course that you can relax and play slowly, stay up north.
Thank you for leaving us 4-stars!
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 08/26/2018Favorite course of all the East Valley
They always have the best quality grass, actual rough if you miss the fairway. Not concrete sand.
Hilly course on the side of South Mountain that will give you a challenging life whether you hit the fairway or not.
Pace of play is always good, easily worth the extra $10 or whatever they are charging to play over the 20+ other courses within 20 miles or so.
Kokopelli Golf Course
Played On 03/15/2018I play here every week, here is what to expect.
The course itself is a pretty nice course. Decently challenging, usually is a good enough time to justify spending $20-$30 on 18 holes.
This season however, after redoing the 12th hole last year, it seems they feel that it’s ok to charge that same $30, at 3:00. Normally I’m ok with that, but not when I show up and the starter doesn’t have my name on the list.
Be prepared for soggy socks. The positive is that if you hit it in a bunker, that counts as cart path. There isn’t enough at this course, it is desert. You’re lucky to find grass on the fairway.
All of this is Ok when the price is $20-$30, and my name is on the list, and it isn’t next to 7 other groups. You can not make customers wait for a golf cart 20 minutes past a 3:00 tee time.
Had the clubhouse still been open when I was finished, I would have demanded a refund, and will be speaking with the manager on Sunday about whether I should just start playing San Marcos and western skies every week instead.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 03/11/20182 years living in the valley, I found my favorite course!
My buddy and I moved here 2 years ago and took up trying a new course every Sunday as our weekly get together. We’ve played the Biltmore, love Legacy and Raven, frequent a lot of cheaper courses and play the expensive ones in the summer.
We both agree his course is our favorite that we’ve played.
Will definitely be back, frequently.

Played On 07/30/2017Very challenging, 12th hole will be beautiful when done renovating
I play Legacy as my weekly course, but saw a deal for $12 a man this week and grabbed it since I live a mile from here.
The course was the most challenging I've played in my limited golf experience.
The bar was closed, and staff was sitting inside the office. They said they had beers behind the desk, but nothing from the bar which was awkward.
We also just got a ton of rain, and they are renovating the 12th hole, so it there was water in places there typically probably is not.
All of that being said, I will 100% be back frequently. Great course layout, and the grass was kept nicer than any other course I've played this summer.
Very challenging bunker and water placements, and the greens are rolling hills on every hole.
Now that we are in season the grass is probably the nicest of any course in Phoenix. The scooter that they denied was not a golf model and would have ruined their grass. A new scooter that is made for golf has been submitted for review. It is a nice atmosphere with great food and great conditions. They have been doing a great job cleaning the carts. However I still believe that allowing single rider forms of transportation, assuming they are made for golf courses and would not damage the course, would make the course play significantly faster, which it needs. It would also lessen the amount of other peoples' germs that may or may not be in the cart area and/or on the carts. It is as covid friendly as any other course that I frequent.
