Miramar Memorial Golf Course
Played On 05/20/2015Flat and Wide Open!
If you are looking for a course that'll make you look good, this is it. It's flat with wide green fairways and super reasonable.
A golf course with wide green fairways in drought plagued San Diego County and super reasonable, almost too good to believe!
Play it!!!!!
The Links at Lakehouse
Played On 03/24/2015Warning Construction Area
There are a lot of improvements underway. This course is coming along very nicely. New Tee Boxes, Nice Architectural features and hopefully some Fairway attention as well.
Just in time for Spring!

Played On 03/17/2015Drought is most unforgiving.
Living in the Southwest of the United States means living in drought conditions. San Diego County is the end of the water supply and the areas golf courses are truly suffering as a result of this prolonged drought.
I have played this course 4 times now and each time, the course has become increasingly drier and the ground harder.
Grass on this course seems more like Native Plants, not what you'd expect on most fairways here.
Just hard (no pun intended) to enjoy the round due to present course conditions.
Aviara Golf Club
Played On 02/02/2015Beauty that is rarely matched
I've played this course a few times and it's shear beauty never fails to awe. The Botanical Garden setting makes you forget this is a public course. I am surprised this course didn't make the Golf Digest 100 (public courses). Yes, there are some outstanding courses in and near San Diego County, Maderas, Torrey Pines, Pelican Hill (Orange County), but Avaira is definitely a must play course and worthy of anyone's must play list.
Try it, you'll love!
Las Vegas National Golf Course
Played On 04/28/2014Simply average, too bad.
I was hoping to like this Slice of Old Vegas, but the unwelcoming feel from the staff, and sense of entitlement of the regulars, make this a one off for me. I played my round with 3 gentlemen from Denmark; there were two groups ahead of our foursome. As we finished the 11th (par 3) hole the Marshal approached us about slow play. He (the Marshal) suggested that we let some “REGULARS” play through before our next hole. The group ahead of us had just teed-off on the 12th (par 4). I said the group ahead of us just teed-off. The Marshal said well, these guys behind you play here every day.
We did not wait and finished our round in 4 hrs. and 10 minutes. Generally, Non-resident pay a premium to play golf in Tourist destinations. We (Vacationing Golfers) shouldn’t receive bad / rude service for the inflated privilege of playing at a golf course.

Presidio/Mission
The course location and layout are convenient and enjoyable. The 27 hole layout provides a nice variety in challenge and pace. However, pace of play at this facility is something to consider. This is a busy course in a major city with prefect weather, it attracts golfer of every level with some not beginning fully prepared for the challenges of this course.
I observed only one Marshal during my 5.0 hour round and the direct result of limited Marshals included groups around me hitting multiple tee shot and taking excessive putts.
Pace of play and course enjoyment are improved with more Marshals.
TPC Las Vegas
Played On 12/30/2013Unexpected Pleasure
As a recreational golfer, my expectation was that this course would be quite challenging. To my surprise, I had an outstanding day of golf. I played from the back tees, and carded a low 80's score (truly unexpected since I was fighting the flu).
I don't image that I could repeat that round.
Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course
Played On 12/05/2013A nice place that you may not want to visit.
Lomas Santé Fe is a really nice Executive Golf Course. Well maintained, not too challenging for novice to intermediate golfers and really nice place to play/practice.
Here's the downside, the customer service at Lomas Santé Fe puts this course at the very bottom on any play list. I played this course for the first and last time today. When I checked in I greeted the staff behind the counter with "Good Afternoon". His response was "What do you need". I gave him my name; he said you can take Cart 9. I held out my hand for the key, he tossed it on the counter.
I played my round, enjoyed the course, but I will never return. (Clifford Roberts is smiling somewhere).
The Executive Course at Lakehouse
Played On 12/03/2013A Nice Walk
St. Marks Executive is a comfortable low stress course. A nice walk with 2-3 hours of golf mixed in. I have played here twice and the course is receiving some attention from the grounds crew on several tees, fairways and greens. San Diego County has begun to receive some Autumn/Winter Rain, so it was a bit damp on the occasions that I played (Winter Rules in effect).
All said a good place to play/practice
Reidy Creek Golf Course
Played On 11/27/2013Best Executive Course in San Diego County
Several of the Executive Courses in San Diego County require substantial attention to make their experience a truly enjoyable one. Reidy Creek is not your ordinary Executive Course. Yes, it is a Pitch and Putt, but the course layout is well thought-out and the greens are also challenging. Great experience and I truly recommend this course to everyone.
Regulation at Marine Memorial Golf Course
Played On 11/06/2013Front 9x2
This was my first time playing this course. The back 9 was receiving some up date (improvements). The Front 9 is really fun, wide Fairways, really well maintained. The Greens are quite fast. All in all a great day playing.
Emerald Isle Golf Course
Played On 10/03/2013Full Irons Workout
The next time you can’t decide between the Driving Range and playing a quick 18, think about playing at Emerald Isle. You’ll get a full Irons Workout, practice shots ranging from 85-245 yards. Yes, this course is very rough (scrub) in some areas, but still a fun, quick course where you can focus on what you’ve been practicing.
Hopefully, the Autumn/Winter rains will fill the ponds and easy the water burden common to most golf courses.
All said a good place to play/practice.
