Deer Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2014Great design and views
This is only of the best course I have played in Ohio. The elevation changes are incredible, with amazing views. Its a fun course to play and to just see the holes. It is a tough course, great conditions, and not crowded.
Big Met Golf Course
Played On 08/12/2014Twilight Golf Review
I normally avoid Big Met like the plague because of the golfers that play here, even though I live in Lakewood. It is always crowded with casual players that don't mind classic rules of ready golf, or minding their pace of play, I lot of "good time", "beer a hole" types. But because of rain during the day and rain in the forecast, I took a chance and played for the $10 twilight rate. I jumped around skipping a couple of holes to avoid the groups ahead of me since I was a single. The course was in pretty good shape, greens were slow and fairways were cut short. But it was a good time if you get lucky.
I wish it played a little faster for those of us who don't like 5 hour rounds.
Shale Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2014One of the best courses in the area
From the free range balls and gps in the carts, Shale Creek delivers the total golf experience. Its the best totally golf experience in the area. And the golf course is a fantastic, challenging, beautiful, and always in great shape. Almost impossible to have a bad experience.
Its worth the extra ten dollars to play here compared to other courses in the greater Cleveland area.
Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 07/31/2014Classic Style course.
This is fun challenging course that sits in a small valley. It gives you a lot of unique shots. The 1st and 10th tees are about 50 feet above the fairways. Many tee boxes and greens have extreme elevation changes. There are several trees that force you to play around them on several holes. With the cooler than normal weather and more rain, the course was still in great shape it was not soggy except for the few spots. Greens are tiny, and the ones cut into the hill can have a lot of slope, keep the ball below the hole. Always super fast play!!! Cart paths were a little bumpy and was the only part of the course that had too much water, lots of puddles everywhere.
Raintree Country Club
Played On 06/02/2014Nice course, some really great fun golf holes.
Raintree is a nice golf course. It is pretty long, just under 7000 from the back tees. A lot of really nice fun challenging holes as well as some blah holes. It was pretty windy and rainy when we played, and the wind was blowing down the hill (the course has a gentle slope from the west to the east), going up the hill was really long and down the hill felt much shorter. The par fives and the holes closer to the club house are all really nice, playing through woods, streams, and water. Electric carts is always a plus too.
Raccoon Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/27/2014fun course, the back nine is different but challenging
Played solo in 2 hrs. They course was in great shape the day I played. Its a short fun little course. The back nine is a little crazy, you need to get your yardages to doglegs right or you are screwed. Short holes on the for make fore lower scores, but the back's doglegs will eat you up unless you hit to the right distance, which makes it a fun change (you can't just blast your shots out there).
Grey Hawk Golf Club
Played On 05/25/2014Great course, great challenge!!
This is one of the most fun courses around in my opinion. It is really hard, specifically 7,8, & 9. But with two true island greens (one sand and the other water). It's long, lots of water and sand. And there is always good deals to be had.
Roses Run Country Club
Played On 05/12/2014Fun course and great deal!!
With a good hot deal this course is hard to pass up. There are a couple really stupid holes on the front nine (4 & 5), but the rest of the course makes up for it. The back nine is great. It poured when we played, had to stop for 30 minutes at the turn to let the weather pass. It was in good shape and played fast.
the course was closed!!!
The course has not yet opened for golf this year. The driveway is under construction.
CALL BEFORE BOOKING TEE TIME TO MAKE SURE IT'S OPEN.
Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 05/08/2014Fun course to play, great staff!!!
I ordered online and walked up to see 20 people standing around the first tee. I wanted to play a fast round so I headed back to the car to see if I could find a different course. The pro saw me heading back to the car and chased me down to explain that the group of 20 people were not playing and rating the course. I played 18 in just over two hours. The course is in great shape and a lot of fun to play. The greens are already aerated
Hinckley Hills Golf Course
Played On 04/10/2014first time out this year
I was able to play Hinckley Hills about 9am on a Thursday when the temp was still 50 and it was really windy. Course was in okay shape, it was still really wet, but it's spring and there can't have been more than a couple of golfable days this year so far. The course was empty, played alone. Played through one group on the 14th. The course is pretty fun, lots of elevation change, and interesting holes, especially on the back nine. It was my first time playing this course and I will try to play again when summer comes. Everything was soggy, and it being so early in the season I didn't want to review the condition.
Sawmill Creek Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 11/06/2013Course still in Great Shape in NOVEMBER!!
I was lucky enough to get out and play Saw Mill Nov. 6. It was in fantastic shape. The greens were amazing, fast and hard (they have not yet aerated yet). Not sloppy wet patches anywhere except where you would expect to see them (near water hazard, etc.). Grass was still maintained throughout the course, no bad spots in fairway or rough, everything was freshly cut too.
Saw a couple fivesomes out there, but both times they waited for me on the tee so I could play through. I never had to wait on them at all. Great fall golf day.
Grey Hawk Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2013GREAT DEAL!!!
This is a fantastic, beautiful, challenging golf course. It can really eat you up and spit you out. It is everything you would expect from a big modern course. Great links style. Plus the Island green on the 11th hole. And the green surrounding by bunker on the 3rd, really give unique, fun holes. Worth the drive from Cleveland, closer and easier to get there than you think.
Sweetbriar Golf & Pro Shop - Sweetbriar Course
Played On 10/31/2013Legacy 18 is outstanding!!
I wrote a review early for the Sweetbriar 18, which is an okay course. But of course the Legacy 18 is the course to play here. It is not the longest course, but you will be forced to leave the driver in the bag on a few holes and need to be accurate with your shots. Look about specifically for the ninth, which is by far the sneakiest hole on the course despite the length. The approach in tricky at best, even from the middle of the fairway. The front nine is more Links style and the back nine is carved out through the woods. Both sides are enjoyable to play. Highly recommend the course to all golfers.
I've played a few times late in the season and it was still in pretty good shape. It was pretty wet in some areas, but for fall with a newer course, in a swampy area it is so be expected.
Big Met Golf Course
Played On 10/31/2013pick you tee time wisely
This course is well maintain and fun to play. There are some really blah holes, but also some super fun challenging holes.
The ONLY issue is the pace of play here. Lots of seniors and very novice golfers who aren't concerned about pace of play at all.
If it played fast and was cheaper, I would recommend it. But its the closest course to my house by far, and I only consider playing on bad weather days. That doesn't say much about the course.
Sawmill Creek Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 10/17/2013Fun Resort course in ohio
I played on a kind of rainy day after a couple of other rainy days. The course was in fantastic shape. Firm, receptive greens that were some of the best I had played all season. Fairly open course, a lot of fun holes and some just okay holes. Great deals on GolfNow.
Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 10/10/2013Great Deal for Great Course
I was able to get a great deal this round, but I will be back for sure even at a higher rate. First impression of the pro shop is not great, it is in an older strip mall type facility.
But the tee shot from the first tee immediately causes you to forget it. The fairways are flat, but it seemed like at least the tee or green was extremely elevated, making for a lot of fun drives and shots at greens. Greens are tiny, deceivingly fast and have more break that you will expect. And force you to be accurate with your iron shots.
A fun little old style course. I will be back.
Tanglewood Club
Played On 10/09/2013Great deal for 18
Course used to be private, still has the country club feel in some ways. The club house is dilapidated at best. The course had some wet areas in rough and fairways, but it's fall. The greens were amazing. BIG, FAST, lot of break. Great elevation changes. First time playing there, no markings on course, get a yardage book if they have one for blind shots. Most of the other players seemed like the "country club" type (both good and bad). Some holes have spectacular views and were a lot of fun to play. Great deal on GolfNow.com, if I can find it again I would definitely play again.
Sweetbriar Golf & Pro Shop - Sweetbriar Course
Played On 10/08/2013good deal for the money
The course is pretty wide open. I was spraying drives, but always found my ball. That made my score look a lot better than I hit the ball. Some pretty holes. Most holes are really flat in right in front of you and stacked next to other holes.
Walk In The Park at Emerald Woods Golf Courses
Played On 09/26/2013Audrey/Heathstone good deal @ GolfNow price
First of all, I booked my tee time online and avoided course that had aeration alerts, however for the second straight time I got to the course to find out that the part of the course is closed (there is 36 holes, so I was able to play to different nines). Just frustrating that not all of the courses are updating that information.
Anyway, the course was better than expected. Greens for the most part had a ton of elevation changes making them challenging depending on where you were on the green. Fairways were still in pretty bad shape, lots of spotty areas. Bunkers were brushed, but the sand was "crunchy", hard, and not easy to play.
A/H Course is flat and open for the most part, very forgiving. (I was able to see some of the other 18 while playing and I am interested in coming back to play it another time.)
The pro was nice and friendly.
I wanted to add that this course is a lot more difficult than it first appears. The drastic and extreme elevation changes to small greens with a lot of slope can make it difficult to score low. At the same time, there are not a lot of holes apart from a couple that can really punish you.
