Riverwood Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2017Surprising
I was looking forward to playing Riverwood and was left kind of disappointed. Stood in a 10 person line to pay. Was told to give slip to starter. Starter yelled at me for giving him the slip and told me to stay away from him til he called my name! Sorry, just following pro shop instructions mr starter!
Putting green and first 4 or 5 holes covered in patches of chemical form which hid the balls forcing us to drive all around looking for them in the fairway. Holes 12-15 ( we started on back ) had a small tanker truck driving around spraying a different kind of non foam chemical everywhere which had a slight odor, nothing like paying to play a nice course and getting chemical exposure without warning or notice! Of course both chemicals on shoes, balls and carts.
When making the turn, we were held on the tee so two ladies could go between us and the group in front of us, scheduling problem we were told, so we waited.
While the greens were very fast, they also had a lot of old hole discoloration quite near the new holes on some greens. Bunkers were pretty much perfect, plenty of yardage markers and tee boxes were in good shape.
On the 5 hole a marshal stopped me and told me I was violating course rules by driving the cart where I was not suppose to and that I should wait there till he released me. I told him that he was accusing the wrong guy, to leave me alone and stop spoiling my round! He drove off to get the two older guys I was paired with. Turns out my playing partners were also off duty course marshals, who may have forgotten their green flag, and the three of them had a good chuckle at my expense. No apologies offered to the paying customer.
Course conditions very good. Rest rooms very good. Ice and water available on the course.
Employees seem to have attitude issues common with expensive clubs. Forgetting that this is a service industry and they are there to provide customer service and not an old employee boys club where they rule over the customer. They also need to refrain from accusing customers of things which the customer has not done!
I feel the employees spoiled my round on a nice course by being rude and just plain unfriendly to a customer!
Kingsway Country Club
Played On 12/05/2015Very nice course
The only problem we had was timing in the fact the course was completely soaked the nite before! I love this place and would play it more if it wasn't so expensive. They've got a great club with good food.
Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 12/11/2014Very good course & organization
I have played Heron Creek quite a bit this year. The course is in very good shape although it can be challenging trying to find yardage other than the aiming poles. The greens are fast and difficult to read. I have found most employees friendly and polite. We were a little embarrassed when a pro shop woman told us to tuck in golf shirts that weren't meant to be tucked in when clearly others, both men and women were wearing shirts untucked as is the current trend. There does seem to be an expectation from the cart crew for cash for bringing a cart that your greens fee has already covered. All in all I have found it to be above average for hospitality and service management with the golf industry. The members have something to be proud of.
