PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 11/26/2017An excellent choice to play
The La Quinta Resort features two 18 hole unbelievable golf courses. The Mountain course gets a little more notoriety partly due to it’s gorgeous back nine holes in the mountains. However, the Dunes course can be just as challenging.
This is just a great golf course, designed by Pete Dye. The course features some holes where you can bomb it off the tee and others where position is everything. The greens are incredible. There are subtle and some not so subtle breaks on every hole. Some holes have lots of undelation making landing on the green in regulation no gimme pars.
The two front nine par 3’s are as good as it gets anywhere.
Don’t let the yardage fool you., while not overly long from the whites, 6150, it has a slope of 128.that should tell you a lot.
The black tees are almost 6600, with a slope of 134. An extremely good test.
All the staff are unreal. The bag guys, pro shop staff, starters, and player assistants want to ensure that you have a tremendous experience.
The Valley has lots of choices to play, for the golf enthusiast I highly recommend giving the course a try. I bet you will want to play it again.
Woodhaven Country Club
Played On 11/19/2017A great tune up course.
A very nice, older style, short golf course. Small greens, many tee boxes close to previous holes.
Course is in very nice shape. The greens were rolling nicely.
A small bucket of very old range balls is included in your rate.
There is also a large chipping area, and two small putting greens.
At the right price it is a great place to tune up your game for the larger bucket list courses in the valley.
Palm Desert Resort Country Club
Played On 11/06/2017Pleasantly surprised
I have golfed numerous courses in the valley over the years without playing this course due to the mixed reviews and speaking with various golfers. An amazing deal popped up on Golfnow Hot deals for $11. So I thought I would give it a try.
The experience was much better than I thought.
The clubhouse is nice. The pro shop staff, Marsha was awesome. I played as a single, and was able to work through various groups on the course, so pace of play was excellent.
The course just reopened from overseeding so the greens were understandably slow.
The overall course layout is ok. There are some nice challenging holes, and some very straightforward holes.
The course will be receiving new golf carts this week, so that will resolve the issue I had.
This is a good tune up course before taking on the more challenging valley courses.
At the right price point, it may be worth giving it a try.
Shadow Ridge Golf Club
Played On 10/30/2017An absolute must play for the golf enthusiast
I have played the majority of the “championship “ courses in the valley, and I put this course in the upper echelon of courses.
The staff are all incredible right from the moment you arrive at the bag drop. The starter Andy, was so friendly and accommodating ensuring I had a great experience.
The practice area is without question the best of all courses I have played. Full length grass driving range, short iron area with plenty of flags to target your wedges, chipping, bunker area and a large putting green, plus smaller one near the first tee.
There are numerous tee boxes so players have several options.
The greens are quite large, however pin placement places an emphasis on precision shot making to get the ball close.
Large fairways so you can hit driver on most holes if you chose.
The course is in excellent condition.
In my opinion this course is in the top 5 of all public courses in the valley.
Valley at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 10/20/2017Very good course, especially at the right price
I have played this course numerous times over the past 5 years. I booked it at a great rate of $55. I
I arrived early so I could warm up at the range. Unfortunately the range was closed that I was not aware of via th3 web site booking.
I advised the starter Willy, to please slot me in if the opportunity was available. I was lucky to tee off early which was very much appreciated.
The course was all brown except for the very slow greens as they we’re preparing for closing for overseeing.
The course actually played better than it looked. On the greens the putts rolled well, just a little slow.
All in all, the two Marriott courses are both very good courses, at the right price point.
Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - North/South
Played On 10/17/2017Decent course, good value
We played the north - west rotation. The course is in good condition. The greens were slow, but the ball rolled well. We teed off at 12:40 and finished in three hours.
The carts have gps
Overall, not bad and a good deal for $24.
Rancho Mirage Country Club
Played On 06/13/2015Try it once
Last minute great deal on golfnow for $ 10.00. I thought I would try it to experience additional courses in the valley.
I'm sure at one time it was probably a nice tight track. Overall conditions were very dried out both in the fairway and greens. Some greens did not really have grass to putt on.shots that came in high would still carry through the greens.
Bunker sand was average att best. Very hard dry sand.
The course is mature and scenic, not bad but not worth playing again. There are too many other choices worth playing.
PGA WEST Greg Norman Course
Played On 06/04/2015Another PGA West Gem
This course is amazing. It maynot be as well known as some of the others, but an incredible golf course.
Staff extremely friendly. Clubs are taken on arrival and are waiting for you on the driving range. Great practice facility, full range, chipping area and a great putting green.
The starter was great with lots of helpful tips.
The green fee was only $39. The course was not busy so pace of play was excellent.
The only down side was a few greens were hurting but they were being worked on. Overall they rolled very well.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 12/11/2014A very good golf course
A Pete Dye gem. The course is very nice. The conditions are now perfect after being closed for over seeding . The greens are perfect. The greens have subtle breaks so you might want to have a look from both sides.
The only negative with the course is the lack of cart gps systems. The course also does not have sprinkler heads marked.
The course itself is as good as it gets in the valley but needs gps carts to take it over the top.
Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Indian/Mountain
Played On 05/21/2014Great value for the money
We got a great last minute deal to play for $12.00. The course is very nice. Greens were rolling great. There are lots of slope on the greens making reading putts a challenge.
The course is short in length but Super tight....My driver stayed in the bag most of the day.
The course was empty so we hit multiple shots to practice and enjoy the round. We were joined by a great guy from Chicago who was great to have in our group.
Overall great value for the money.
Woodhaven Country Club
Played On 05/13/2014Nice little course
This is a nice short course in superb condition. Greens are pure and roll very well. The carts do not have gps so you have to look for yardage markets.
Overall it is a great course as a warm up round for one of the local big money courses. We got a great deal at the last minute and will play it again.
The staff was very friendly. Leslie in the pro shop was very helpful.
Food and beer were great post round. Jose was a great waiter. The burrito was excellent.
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 05/08/2014Good course for all levels of golfers
Both courses are very enjoyable to play. The Palms is perhaps a little more scenic with many holes that have water in play.
A good value for the money if you can shop for a rate under $80.
Great location,.
Indian Wells Golf Resort - Players Course
Played On 05/07/2014Put this course on hour must plat list
This course was even better than I expected and I knew it was a great course.
Extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. Great golf course. Greens were immaculate and very very fast.
A course that we will play again.
Good food post round on a great outside patio.
Thank you for you feedback. We are glad that you came out to give the course a try. It has been hard for us to keep the course from drying out with the way the weather has been lately. Thanks for coming out.
