Greens are bad!

Fairways were pretty good and tee boxes for the most part were okay. Most of the greens were below average to poor. Large areas of the greens were either dead or sand. It did appear the greens keeper did make the effort to place the pins in the better parts of the green but putting through many of the bad definitely effected the roll. I wouldn't recommend this course until after the winter overseeding.

Good course, no Marshall

I have played Randolph-Dell Urich courses many times and always have the same complaint. Slow play, large gaps between groups, and no Marshall to be found. I believe they have the staff since I had guys there to carry my bag to the cart and clean my clubs after the round. I don't expect that, need that, or want that. This is a city course not a resort. I would much rather put one of those guys to work keeping pace of play going. It was over 100F when we played and sat in heat waiting to hit most shots due to the group in front of us who were out of position most of the day. In the end, they were two holes down. I appreciate that the new management is making great strides in getting and keeping the courses in excellent shape. Now take the next step and give us a Marshall not a bag jockey.

Not Fun

The staff and overall condition of the course was fine and as I expected. I did not expect to find dormant greens that had just been painted. They were too firm as evidenced by the lack of any ball marks. I personally hit the greens on many holes and could not find a ball mark to be repaired. This of course lead to my ball shooting off the back of the greens on all but two of these holes. Did not enjoy this at all. Receptive greens are nice to have, but evidently the cost of over seeding out weighed their desire to provide a playable course. Perhaps if I cared to play here more often I would change my game and learn to roll the ball up from the fairway so it can stop on the green. Sorry, just didn't have fun playing here.

Needs some improvement

The course overall was in good shape. Greens are excellent and fairways cut fairly close. The sand traps and fairway bunkers however, need work. They were covered with animal and golfer tracks that were unraked from previous days. Some traps have mushrooms growing in them to indicate how long any maintenance has been paid to them. The beverage cart passed us on our second hole and promised to check back with us later. Never saw her again. This is a cronic problem at this course. Most courses I play in Tucson provide a beverage cart where the driver sees players several times during the round. I have never seen a beverage cart on this course more than once. Too bad, could probably use the revenue.

Nice Addition to Tucson Golf

Decided to play from the tips for some reason. Very challenging from there. Due to the length of several holes I think these holes would be nearly unplayable on a windy day. Not much to look at as far as views go since this part of town is pretty flat, but the course itself is beautiful and well laid out. A little hard to find the clubhouse for check-in. Could use better signage. Overall, an excellent golf course that will only get better as it ages.

Beautiful holes that challenge your skill.

You can't beat this course for its beauty. Dramatic par 3's and other holes that melt into the desert landscape and ravines. It was a bit exhausting to play with cart path only rules, but still enjoyed this course.
