Great Track

Had a group of 8 and came across this hidden gem. Great track for the price. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their course. The course is pretty tight and short, but definitely some reachable and challenging eagle opportunities if you can stomach it. The greens were in pristine condition and rolled true. Some quirky par 3s playing at around 100 yards but fun shots that you can find yourself in trouble if you miss the turf.

Would recommend this course to anyone and hope I get up there again. The starter even let us return to hole 1 to duel it out in a playoff #classact

Nuff Said

A review of Forest Dunes is superfluous at this point, but just to pile some gravy on the rave reviews.

A must play course in Michigan. Top notch practice facilities, friendly and knowledgeable staff, a beverage/snack cart seemingly on every hole, true greens and a layout that is very aesthetically pleasing. There is not a blade of grass or grain of sand on this course that has not been mulled over and maintained impeccably.

Highly recommend and will be back next year

Disappointment

Had a group of 8 anticipating 3 nice tracks in the Gaylord area for a nice long weekend. Heard/read good things about Black Forest in the past, but read some reviews here so we touched base with the course to ensure the issues had been addressed from2015 and we were duped.

I feel bad as the staff was friendly, but this was unanimously the most disappointing course any of us have played. The greens looked like some foreign surface and rolled, I would guess, at about a 2. The sand was concrete with roots and other foliage growing in it, tee boxes were in rough shape, and the fairways/green's seemed uncut. We paid $40 and I wouldn't play it again for $5. Take your money down the road and avoid the disappointment.

The rough was in good shape though.

We’re sorry to hear your group was disappointed. Having read recent reviews, you know we were hit extremely hard with devastating damage last year. I’m sure in touching base on conditions, we were relaying that conditions have been improving since 2015 – as they are daily. We will keep putting in the work this season, and we get positive feedback daily from our frequent players. We hope your group will give us another chance in the future. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.
