Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 02/01/2024Course remains in very good shape after total re grass.
Reviews last few years tell the story pretty well. But with new management of the entire property, major course improvements were done over many months last spring and summer as course closed completely. Results are amazing. Greens are in excellent shape. Fairways are firm and new grass has grown in over most all the holes.
As always, staff continues to be professional, experienced, and knowledgeable.
Did not use the restaurant, but reviews on the Hilton resort part of Mystic Dunes are very positive. Course is very close to Disney with easy access from the area. Price remains very competitive for this immediate Disney area.
The design is Gary Koch. Course is very challenging with long par 4s with huge greens, short par 4’s with tough small greens, reachable par 5’s, and four very different par 3s.
Driving has mostly generous fairways…the fun starts with hitting and putting the greens.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 11/03/2023Course 4 month closure for major upgrade looking very good
I have played Mystic Dunes for 14 years. No question it had fallen on hard times last several years. But the links layout by Gary Koch with massive undulating greens has always been a unique course that many many people have rated 5 star. It is very close to Disney and within easy driving from all Disney resorts and Kissimmee or Davenport rental homes and condos.
Give this course another couple months of skilled greens keeping and it will great again.
The fairways, tees, and greens were killed and reseeded or sodded. Sod is still growing in on some tees and around some greens. Greens are thick and firm. They are a little slow right now, but very puttable.
Many of the staff have been there for years and give a Country Club welcome and experience.
Would recommend this course to anyone looking to golf close to Disney for a reasonable price.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 11/04/2021Good to be back at Mystic Dunes
Good to back at Mystic Dunes golf club. Staff is first class and the course is beautiful right now.
Over seed has grown in, greens are true and a fair speed considering the undulations.
The layout is unique to Florida. Gary Koch designed a links style course with minimal water, generous landing areas, and truly challenging greens. The back nine is a little tighter and middle 4 holes play through some beautiful natural swamplands.
5 sets of tees for every golfer. Forward tees are as fair as any course my spouse and I have played.
Excellent! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Mystic Dunes Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you on the course soon for another 5-star experience!
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 10/15/2019Getting better and better. Such a beautiful layout
Greens were lush, thick, a little slow but as good as I have ever seen them. Fringe and surrounds and excellent.
Fairways are spotty here and there but much improved.
Staff is great, rates are very fair for this time of year.
This course is on a huge piece of land and 16 of 18 holes are totally separated from any other holes. Holes 11-15 take you back into old Florida are are carved through swamps and thick woods.
5 sets of very fair tees. Spouse says forward tees are fairest she has ever played. Whites for most of us. Blues and Blacks can really stretch out the long par fours.
Great! Thank you for visiting us at Mystic Dunes Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 11/15/2018Big positive changes for this once premier Disney area golf course.
Like so many central Florida courses that did not have huge financial backing, Mystic Dunes was clobbered by the recession after 2008.
The layout is unique to the area. The massive rolling undulating geeens are like none you will see in the Florida accept on exclusive private courses. Some folks do not like how challenging they are, but they are really fun for us. It is very close to Disney, so an easy drive for a round of golf from anywhere around Disney area.
Each hole is unique and literally there is only one hole where you can see another fairway. Staff has always been rated as excellent and that hospitality continued through a number of difficult years recovering from the financial downturn.
Yesterday, we played for the 1st time since March and the improvement over the last 12 months is more than obvious. I have not seen seen the greens so thick and smooth in many years. Most every fairway is covered with grass and very playable. Some roughs are still sparse, but it is the rough after all. I would play pick, clean, and place for the time being in many locations off the fairway. There are lots of new homes being built, but they do not affect at all the contours and sight lines of the course.
Congratulations to the long term staff at Mystic Dunes for hanging in through some really tough years.
If you have not played here, give it a try. You will definitely have an opinion. If you gave up on it 2-4 years ago, give it a try again on your golf trip. I do not think you will be disappointed.
Awesome! We're pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. We appreciate your review and we hope to have you back again soon!
White Heron Golf Club
Played On 11/14/2018Ridgewood Lakes, you're breaking my heart!
Over the last 20 plus years, We have played this course several times a year as vacationers and snowbirds. This is a classic Florida small retirement community golf course.
Lots of water, smaller greens, comfortable club house with no frills but nice staff. Just played this week and was so sad to see this fun layout run down badly. This is one of so many courses that were clobbered in the recession after 2008 and are fighting to keep greens and fairways playable with limited resources.
Funds are so tight for these mid level formerly lush layouts that many continue to just keep basic maintenance crews and staff.
I know they are working hard to improve conditions. If they keep prices reasonable , this can still be fun to play and avoid the traps and the water.
Kings Ridge Golf Club - Kings Course
Played On 11/11/2018Pleasantly surprised by the championship course
We have played for years in the Disney area but never at King's Ridge. This is a great retirement community course in terms of length, variety of holes, minimal chances to lose golf balls, ease of parking, access to golf carts, and friendly staff. It was no frills the day we were there...no beverage cart, no cart staff, just the pleasant counter fellow and the starter.
The course has 4 sets of tees and plays max 6200 plus with forward tees perfect for anyone who can get it up to 100-140 yards off the tees. If you play the right tees all good drives leave you a reasonable shot at making the green in regulation. Something so many courses lack in terms of forward tees.
There are lots of homes on the course but most all are not in play except for very wayward shots.
We will put this course on our snowbird list for the winter.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 01/22/2018Mystic Dunes much improved and getting better every week
Played Mystic Dunes today. This is third time since New Years. I have played this course in the winter for over 10 years. It was always one of my favorite courses with challenging but fun greens to putt. Par fours rotate from relatively short with small very undulating greens to long par fours with huge rolling greens.
Gary Koch really put experience and imagination into this course. The course is on a massive property and each hole is totally separate from the others.
The greens are as thick, firm, and as true as I have seen them in years. The fairways are very playable and with some warmer weather should fill them in nicely. Many tees have new sod.
After going through a tough several years, this course is on the way back to being one of the best in the area.
The staff is great to work with and our pace was excellent today. Mystic Dunes had 5 sets of tees for any level of play. Forward tees are really "forward" and very fair for shorter hitters.
Clubhouse is huge with lots of merchandise and a nice restaurant.
Stone Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2017As good as it gets for 9 hole courses
You will not putt on better bent grass greens accept at the most high end Midwest courses...and then these might match them hole for hole.
Remington Golf Club
Played On 03/15/2017Along with Kissimmee Bay a great winter bargain
Remington and Kissimmee Bay are sister courses that I would rate very similar. No question these courses, built in the 80s ( my guess) have gone through some tough financial times with the economy and lots of competition. But the layouts of each are very professional and fun to play. Traps, tees, and fairways show some wear an tear but greens are very good. and they have priced them to be very playable during the winter season.
Remington Golf Club
Played On 02/23/2017This course has become a go to winter course for us
Remington is like many of the golf course communities built in the 70 and 80s. The original course was superbly cared for and the layout and amenities were high end. Competition and the ups and downs of the economy have taken their toll but the layout remains excellent, the new greens are in great shape, the fairways are hanging in, the bare bones staff is excellent. The traps need work and the roughs are a variety of vegetation. But this course and Kissimmee Bay (its sister course) have kept rates great for the winter and we love playing here.
Celebration Golf Club
Played On 10/31/2016Still very pretty course...and still slow!
5 hour round, but beautiful day. Tees were kinda rough but course gets a lot of play.
Could not find forward green tees for spouse.
Overall good experience for the price.
Fun to check out the homes on the course.
The Club at Eaglebrooke
Played On 03/04/2016What a beautiful golf course
I am almost afraid to tell folks how nice this course is.
Most every hole was individually designed and presented generous driving area and then the fun begins. traps tight around rolling undulating greens make hitting these greens in regulation a real challenge. on many greens being above the hole was kiss of death to try and stop the ball.
17 and 18 are great finishing holes. We played the senior tees but could have done the white easily.
Enjoy this one!
Hi "Tednvon" Thank you so much for playing Eaglebrooke golf course. Sounds like we made quite the impression on your group. Please come back and visit us again on your next trip from Iowa. Thanks MGT
MetroWest Golf Club
Played On 01/25/2016Pleasantly surprised
I had seen some negative reviews and am pleased to report that the course was very playable and in very good condition. Fairways are very wide and generous. Approach shots are challenging with deep traps close to the greens. Greens were in very nice shape. All but the most affluent courses took a beating during the recession. Buy outs by huge golf conglomerates have cut staff and services at many courses in the Orlando area. There was certainly evidence of cuts in very limited over seeding ,bunker condition, and some rough spots on tees but I would definitely play the course again at reasonable price.
The Champions Club at Summerfield
Played On 10/29/2014Beautiful layout, old Florida everywhere
Just a fun course to play with long drives between holes and beautiful swamps and natural Florida terrain on every hole.
Huge well manicured greens.
Great bargain for the price.
Generous landing areas,
Nice set of tees for most all folks
The Legends at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 10/14/2013Lush, open fairways. Great approaches over water
Well maintained course with generous landing areas. Really enjoyed the many holes with water and huge rock walls in front of the greens.
This course is located in far back portion of a huge time share resort. Keep driving and follow the signs. Prices go way up in the winter, so play before snow blows up north.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 10/14/2013Great layout...showing some wear...super staff
Great course as far as design. Yes, it is in the middle of nowhere so plan some driving time unless you live or stay there. It is showing some stress from the recession and "survival of the fittest" golf situation in Florida. Traps are rough around edges, clubhouse could use some paint inside, some of the cart paths are cracked and teeth rattlers, but very much worth the low greens we paid through Golfnow.
Staff, starter were great. Ranger was seen and not heard...great beverage folks in the clubhouse and on the course. Good pace of until last couple of holes...no problem. Greens thick and not too fast. Green tees plenty for me (7 hcp) at 6300 yds. Spouse played forward tees and thought they were fair and well positioned. She loved the course and broke 90.
Providence Golf Club
Played On 3/26/2013Good value for the money. Very pretty back nine.
Enjoyed this course. First time and we are snowbirds so know the area pretty well. Front nine is wide open, lots of fairway and greenside bunkers. Back has some fun sharp doglegs with hidden greens.
Just under $50 for PM round a Very good bargain this close to Disney in peak season. Greens have just enough slope to make it interesting. 1st short par 4 on back has hidden water that we both hit. A small sign that says "220 to water" would help as there is no course map on the scorecard.
Thank you for your review of Mystic Dunes Golf Club. We appreciate your positive feedback and apprecite your loyalty. We are getting better every day and look forward to being the course you love and remember very soon. We look forward to your next visit!
