Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club

Nice course. Lots more f activity. Driving range was packed prior to round. Staff was very friendly. Round with foursome completed in just over four hours. Course is in excellent shape for our area, because it is getting hot. Greens roll true, and have quite a bit of slope. Had a great time and will definitely come back.
Cypress Lakes Golf Course
Played On 05/28/2023Windy day at Cypress
Enjoyed a windy (20 mph+) round of golf on Memorial Day. The course is in great shape. Fairways lush and green, and greens rolling fast and true. Can’t help the wind, but played round in 3.5 hrs with a 1 pm tee time. The old guy in the pro shop is a grump, but everyone else at the course was very nice. Had a great time and will be back.
River Oaks Golf Club
Played On 07/15/2021Fun day at River Oaks
Had a great day at River Oaks. Played in a threesome and the pace of play had us finished in under 3.5 hours. The staff has worked hard to get some more pace on the greens, and while they will never be “fast” they are much improved. The course is beginning to dry out a little bit due to a lack of water resources, but the overall condition of the course remains excellent. The day was cool, my partner’s were great, and a good time was had by all.
San Geronimo Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2017Hot day makes for fast round
This was my first trip to San Geronimo golf course. I chose the course for two reasons: 1. It was outside the Sacramento Valley where the temperature was going to reach 110 plus, and the valley is filled with smoke from area fires.
2. San Geronimo is a dog friendly course and I have always wanted to take my Basset Hound Mollie with me to keep me company while I play.
My wife, who doesn't play, also joined us for the day and off we went, a rather unorthodox threesome, but all happy to be together, and laughing about enjoying the cool 95 degree temperature.
The course is in good condition. The greens are receptive, but roll nice and true with more break than they appear at times. I really enjoyed the mixture of holes. The front side plays relatively flat, with nice wide fairways. There is some water to deal with on the front side as well as a few well placed bunkers, and the ninth green demands an accurate short iron to a large green split into three small greens. Place your tee shot in the right spot or you are looking at a three-putt.
The back nine begins with an elevated tee shot to a 500 yard par 5 fairway. (Don't miss left.) The back nine has a few interesting (blind) tee shots on 12 and 14 which make it difficult to know exactly where to pick your line. I did manage to birdie 12 after a poor second shot by holing a wedge from 55 yards just short of the pond which is found short right of the green.
The round was a great time with the family, and we look forward to returning to San Geronimo in the future.
Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course
Played On 06/16/2016Fun little course
This was my first time playing Bartley-Cavanaugh and had little information about the course other than it wasn't very long. I had a 2:20 pm tee time, but was told I could tee off early if I wanted. I arrived on the tee about 45 minutes prior to my start time and was given the go ahead by the starter. There is no driving range, only a net to hit balls into so be prepared to figure out your swing on the course.
The course itself is not long with only one par four over 400 yards (412) on this day. The greens were on great shape, rolling true and fairly fast. The course is in really good shape overall and I had a great first experience and can't wait to return. This is a great course for walkers, very little in the way of hills, and if you can put your ball in the fairway you definitely have the chance to score low.
It's nice to get a fair and descriptive assessment. This helps my decision to give it a try. I too like a chance for a low score!
