Canyon Springs Golf Club
Played On 10/23/2016Too Slow on a Sunday
This was our last round of a guys weekend of playing 6 different courses. Course was in decent shape, nothing great. Pace of play was very slow as we were on a 5 hour plus round. I say we were, but had to leave after 16 holes to make it the airport, so didn't get to experience the full course. There was no marshal that we saw that was trying to keep pace of play up.
The course can be very daunting your first time with A LOT of blind shots and unknown carries. If you are a feel player like me the course is hard to visualize from the tee box your first time.
Vaaler Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/23/2016Great Little Gem
We played Vaaler Creek after playing some other courses in the San Antonio area over the weekend. I can honestly say Vaaler made the rest look average. Course was in great shape after just coming out of an overseed. The greens were a little sanded still but played good. Staff was friendly in the pro shop and grill area. The drive between the pro shop, driving range and hole 1 is a little long and one could get lost. I would definitely play there again.
Brackenridge Park Golf Course
Played On 10/22/2016Overrated Muni
Being rated so high for one of the best courses, I was severely disappointed in the overall condition of the course and amount that was charged. This course while it has history is old and dated as far as course management. The layout was great overall and greens were in top shape. No driving range was a big let down for the price. The pace of play was excellent. However, let's just call it what it is, a low end municipal golf course with a great history.
The Quarry Golf Course
Played On 10/22/2016Good Course but slow play on a Saturday
The course decided to put a shot gun scramble at the same time we went out. They assured us that they would not be in the way. WRONG! It was over a 5 hour plus round waiting on every shot the entire day which we finished at dark. Course was in good shape and would play again as long as the pace of play can be corrected.
The Bandit Golf Club
Played On 10/21/2016Bandit is out of
Great golf course and tough layout far from the city life. Well worth the drive when there is actually a marshal on the course moving the groups along. We played in over 5+ hours and finished in the dark because there was no course management. Pro shop staff weren't overly friendly and just pushed us out of their hair as quickly as they could. Course was in sold shape.
Starcke Park Golf Course
Played On 10/21/2016Good Little Municipal Track
No frills, not the greatest conditions but overall a good walk of a decent municipal golf course. Course was kept in the shape I would expect and had some holes that were interesting. No frills clubhouse and practice area.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
Played On 12/06/2015Old School Course with elevation
This a great old school layout with a lot of elevation changes and great golf holes. I would highly recommend.
Crooked Cat at Orange County National
Played On 12/05/2015Great Course, worth the time!
Crooked Cat is the more forgiving golf course with a little less scenic views but its a great starter course. I would play it again.
Panther Lake at Orange County National
Played On 12/05/2015Great Course and Surroundings
I like both courses, but Panther Lake is better. More scenic and provides a challenge to think strategically when hitting shots. I would play again in a heartbeat.
Well then come on back! Thank you for the review and we are happy to hear that you had such a great time with us.
Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 12/04/2015Very Augusta Like!
Really enjoyed this course with the oak trees and traditional bunkers. I would play this one again anytime.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 12/04/2015Great golf course!
Both courses are fun and quite enjoyable! A lot more sand and waste bunker areas give the course a tougher feel.
Makani Golf Club
Played On 12/01/2012Different for Hawaii
Very nice course played up in the hills from the Kona coast. A Perry Dye design so you can tell his dad's influences.
Thank you so much for coming out to play and for taking the time to fill out a review after!
