Newcastle Golf Course
Played On 06/07/2023Once Is Enough
Firstly, the folks I dealt with were very nice. Pro shop staff and starter were friendly and very accommodating.
Also can’t complain about $33 hot deal.
The course however left a bit to be desired. Greens were quite hard but rolled quite slow. I guess this was necessary because some of the pin locations were kind off silly. Pretty much every hole had huge slopes running right and left from the fairway. Quality tee shots down the middle rarely stayed on the short grass, routinely running into the rough. I guess playing and getting to know the course more would help, but there’s really nothing compelling to go back for.
Once was enough.

Layout ok. Fairways ok. Greens awful. Some aerated and some not but all were hairy and bumpy.

The layout and condition of this course is typically fine. The greens however are another matter. I've played the course a dozen times now and each time the pins have been cut in ridiculous spots. Unless you've played them a hundred times and seen every pin placement on every green. you'll have no idea where to try to leave your approach. If you're putting from the wrong spot it's impossible to leave it close. If you happen to drain the first one or hit a bomb coming back on your second putt, you've won the lottery. Even when playing well tee to green, I always blow my brains out on these greens. I'm a mid handicap. If I know I can't break 80 even when I'm playing well, it's not much fun. Don't think I'll be back.

Down from Toronto for a week. Haven't hit a ball in 5 months so glad to be playing anywhere. $27 green fee reflected current conditions. Sand everywhere including greens. Driving range was a bit shabby and no putting green. If it's your first round in a while and you don't want to pay $100 to shake the cobwebs out, this course is a decent value. People could not have been nicer but the course needs a lot of work.

This course used to be very nice. Tee boxes and fairways were OK for the time of year but the greens were horrendous. Also, our electric cart barely made it to the turn. We limped back to the clubhouse and swapped it. No apology. Guys acted like they were doing us a favor. Food cart had no food. No sandwiches. Just drinks and peanuts. Lots better places to play for the money.
Hi BiggerGman. Thanks for taking the time to review your round, and we are disappointed it didn't live up to your expectations.
We recently aerified our greens when you played and are fully recovered now. We hope yo have you back out to experience the greens running true.
