Just Like Carpet

Excellent day! This course offers a variety of different type holes that give you the chance use various strategies, especially if you are not a long hitter. Every aspect of this course is in really good shape. Beware of the rough - a ball just two feet into the rough will be almost totally swallowed up. You’ll have to be looking straight down to see your ball. Greens were not very receptive to an approach that wasn’t perfect.

Consistently Consistent

Really like this course! Rough is smoother than some other courses fairways. They do need a little work on a couple of the cart paths though..

Chewed Up

Greens in good condition. Bunkers were fair fir an average duffer. Fairways had more roll than you would have expected. The down side was that several of the tee boxes were a bit chewed up. Hot dog was great!

Slish Spash!

Very soggy! Surprised the course was open. The greens were not nearly as soft as you would expect. Rolled true and received a good approach soft very well. Forget about roll. Bunkers were all filled with enough water to loose your ball. Would have been fun except for the foursome who wouldn’t let our twosome play through. Played the front nine in almost 3 hours. Never saw a marshall.

No Need for an Ark....Yet

Considering all the recent rain, this course was in very good shape. The biggest problem was not the fault of the crew. It was the players who didn't pay attention to how to put the flag back in the hole without damaging the turf around the cup and folks who were dragging their feet on the greens - scuffing up the grass. Missed two birdie putts just due to this lack of courtesy. Otherwise, this course drains very well. The greens were in fantastic shape, all things considered. The bunkers, understandably, were very wet or packed down. So, stay out of them. The tee boxes were in good shape. The rough is thick, so hit 'em straight.

It's a desert out there

Riverchase is suffering. The only bright spot is that the water coolers were full. Several tee boxes are chewed up. Several greens have patches of thin grass and bare spots. The fair ways are loaded with cracks; some wide enough to shallow a golf ball. It used to be that the cart path on 18 was the only and most rough cart path on the course. Now, many of the cart paths are extremely bumpy. Never saw a Marshall - two sets of twosomes wouldn't let me play through. I finally just drove around them on number 7. It may be a while before I return.

Trust Me

This is a very enjoyable course. There are holes to use the big stick and also short par fours that require accuracy off the tee and on the approach shot. The greens are in excellent shape. Remember, that at Plantation the greens don't move as much as you may read them.....until the ball slows down.
All but one of the tee boxes is ingoid shape. That would be the par three number 13. It's almost always chewed up. I didn't find a single tight lie in the fairways - very nice. Wasn't in a bunker so can't speak to that this round. But usually, the bunker maintenance is the weak spot of Plantation.

Gray is Sonetimes Black

I love this course! Greens were excellent. Bunkers well maintained. Fairways smooth with very few tight lies. There are holes for the bombers and holes for the thinkers. BUT, the gray water they use to irrigate can stink to high heaven. DON'T step in it., or your partner will be making you walk.

Shiver Me Timbers

The day was WINDY. Close to 20 mph. The layout of this course is very interesting, and very challenging in the wind. The only hole I just DO NOT care for is the par four, 15th. The drive must be long and perfectly placed, more than any other hole on the course. The smart duffer will hit an iron left of the bunker on the right and somewhere near the 150 yard marker. Anything that lands in the fairway will roll left and into the trees or creek. This day, there were a lot of tight lies in the fairways. Tee boxes were in good shape. The bunkers were well maintained, except the fairway bunkers on number four needed more sand - almost like hitting off a modified hard pan. The greens were in really good condition, rolling smooth and true - but a few had the "volcano effect" around the cup. Never saw a Marshall and usually don't on this course. The foursome in front of us refused to let us play through. They played by committee, and there were two holes empty in front of them. We usually play a round in 3.5 hours. This was almost a 5 hour round!
Go play Riverside! It's a fun and interesting course.

Please Don't Punch Me

You'll like this course. I prefer playing the Champions and the Masters. Right now, the fairways are running fast. Bunkers are well maintained. The greens have been punched recently, but are still pretty hard and don't receive a good approach very well. So, so plan on an extra amount of roll out. This course is not too tight or too long for us duffers. Lots of fun.

Po Po Poanna

I really like this course! Right now there are way too many tight lies in the fairways. Most fairways, though, are wide and forgiving; as long as you stay out of the creek. The cart girl came around several times, which was a new improvement. Here's the real challenge: putting greens spotted with poa annua. Can't count how many putts were missed due to ball being knocked off line. I'll bet the course will be much better in a couple months.

Couldn't Find An Excuse

This is a beautiful course. For early in the season, Frisco Trails is in really good shape. Only one of the greens is struggling to fill in. The fairways provide some roll and the greens, in general, accepted a good approach shot. You'll find most of the fairways to be generous with bunkers that are well maintained (ask me how I know). A couple of the holes are a puzzle for the shorter hitter , due to the layout, so short game is essential for a decent score. The greens and the fairways have some slope. The longer hitters, who have a good short game, may find this course too easy. The rest of us will have a lot of fun.

Which Way Does It Blow George

This is a really pretty course! Excellent cart paths and amenities. Bunkers are real sand and maintained well.
Fairways are generous, if you land your ball in the right places. Greens did not receive an approach shot well, but did roll true and fast. There is not a flat green on the course. The tee boxes were level and in good shape for this time of year. The fairway turf is a lttle thin, so the tight lies were plentiful. Just wait a couple months though and this course will be a real treat.

Plantation drains well! Greens were really good.
Fairways had some extremely muddy areas. The only tee box that I never like is the par 3 thirteenth. That sucker is always chewed up and leaves little level area to tee. Most fairways are generous. The greens don't have a lot of slope but they are still sneaky tricky. Very fun course to play for a short striker of the ball...like me.

Be Careful When You Dance

I really like this course. The tee boxes are usually in good shape. Most of the fairways are generous. The bunkers are well maintained. BUT, the creek can sneak up on you, and the greens are tricky.

Shut Up Bundle Up And Tee Up

39 degrees. No one on the course but us. Wonderful!!! Greens were receptive to a good approach and rolled true. They were extremely fast down grain and broke hard if you babied a short putt.
Fairways were well maintained. I was very impressed with the bunkers (I was in three of them). Really good sand with the exception of the par four 15th. The fairway bunker sand is almost hard pan. There is a lot of erosion along the creek, so if you hit a shot near the edge, be careful.

No Shag On This Carpet

I really like this course. Other than the fairways being having too many tight lies (normal for this time of year I think), the conditions were really good. The main feature, to me, are the greens. They are smooth and receive an approach shot very well. FAST is not an adequate word. My only complaint about the greens has to do with right around the hold - too many volcanos. So, the holes were most likely not moved and inserted appropriately. Bunkers (ask me how I know) were in fantastic shape. Plenty of good sand. The tee boxes were in good shape and level. Here's a good note for ya: Stay our of the rough! This course has not primary and secondary rough - just rough. If you are not standing right over your ball, you may not see it. So, watch an errant shot all the way to a stop. When you get to hole number 6. Just right down a bogie and go to the next hole. That'll save the duffer a lot of heart-ache. The "white" boxes on this course are closer to the "Blue" boxes on similar courses. So, choose your poison well.

Walked

Welcome to the Dance Floor

If I want to walk a course, I usually play Keeton - nice and flat. I was very surprised by the condition of the greens; they were really good. They received an approach shot very well and rolled very smooth. BUT, really slow. The fairways are in good shape too. Can't tell you about the bunkers - which are few - because I managed to avoid the beach views. The tee boxes were also in good shape. To score decently on Keeton, just hit it straight. Long is not required.

Pray for Winter

The greens are really suffering, especially on the front side. They are bad enough to take the fun out of putting. And, the fairways are covered in tight lies, even in the middle of the fairway. One bright spot, if you can call a bunker a bright spot, is that the bunkers were in pretty good shape; being full of sand of a good consistency. Maybe the greens and the fairways will be better as the weather gets colder - bent grass.

My Kingdom for a Bunker

Without wind, this course has very little defense, other than my lack of ability. The greens were really good. They held a good approach shot and rolled true - for the most part. Hot dogs were better than most municipal dogs. BUT the bunkers were more like hard pan with a raised rim around it. That's why I rated the course conditions as fair. Never saw a Marshall. The twosome was slower than our foursome, but wouldn't let us play through.
