Black Diamond Golf Club
Played On 10/15/2016Good Value & Challenge
Have played BD since it opened and have enjoyed the majority of rounds played there. It's improved as it has aged and the latest tweak with the new layout has been a positive as well. For me the greens are some of the best around......fast and true. After you've played a few times you'll learn where to place your shot....and where not too. :-). Some great visuals of the surrounding area.
The only areas I could recommend for improvement are:
1. Marshaling on weekends. Because it's particularly busy, this is an area I think needs to be monitored closely so golfers can enjoy a decent pace of play, particularly the golfers that play the game regularly and understand golf etiquette.
2. Sand bunkers. A number of them could use new sand.
Batteaux Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/06/2015Great Course but Greenside Bunkers Need Refill
Have played this course several times. Great conditions, save the greenside bunkers that tend to be very shallow/need refilling. Found it very difficult to get the ball up in the air as your club bounced off the pack hard surface.
Recommend booking early tee times. We booked 6:50 and were the first ones out and did our round in less than 3.5 hrs.! Felt like we were the only ones on the course.
Despite the shortfall on the greenside bunkers, the course overall is one of the best in the Collingwood area. Highly recommend it. Just stay out of the greenside bunkers. :-)
St. Petersburg Country Club
Played On 04/16/2015One of the better courses in St.Petersburg
What a nice surprise playing St. Petersburg Golf & Country club. Arrived and was picked up in golf cart with ice water and a small towel included. Checked in was told there was next to no one on the course and I could go when I was ready. Headed over to the free hitting range and hit some balls to warm up, then headed to the 1st tee. Fairways were mostly generous in size and in good condition. The real treat were the greens. They were the quickest I'd played (Bardmoor & Pasadena Golf & Country Club were nice, but slower). They were in mostly great shape and rolled true. Most were large and fairly flat, with some of them throwing in some slopes. They are also well guarded by traps......of which I found a few today! Thankfully got up and down out of most of them. :-)
I completed the round in about 3 hrs. and didn't see any other golfers until I reached about the 16th green. I never caught them.
Very enjoyable round. Already booked another round for this Saturday. Definitely will be playing this course on future trips.

Got a great hot deal on this course. Course was in pretty good condition. Challenging course for sure, with water and bunkers on many holes. Have to work the ball on a number of holes for the best chance @ making par.
I'd play St. Petersburg Golf & Country Club given the choice, as I feel it has better greens (faster) and fairways are more generous. But if you can get a hot deal thru golfnow, give this course a try.
East Bay Golf Club
Played On 4/3/2013Slow play and greens not very good
We actually tee'd off a bit early and thought that was a good sign, until we finished the first hole and found things backed up. 5 hrs. later we were finally finishing up. The fairways are pretty good for the most part, but a number of greens were in less than stellar shape, which took some fun out of the game for me.
For an extra 7 bucks, I'd golf Seminole Lakes GC instead. They're greens were in much better condition.
Seminole Lake Country Club
Played On 4/1/2013One of the better local courses
Course was in pretty good condition, though areas were pretty rough outside the fairway. Ground was pretty dry/hard. Greens were the highlight of the course; true and in good shape. Good practice facilities as well. Overall good experience/value.
Black Diamond Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2012Great Value and challenging
I've played this course many times. One of the nicer courses east of Oshawa. The two nines are very different; front 9 is mostly open/links style, while the back is more traditional/woodland, with some sharp elevation changes. Back 9 requires more focus on ball placement.
The greens are usually pretty quick and the course is well maintained and marshalled.
