The Quarry Golf Course
Played On 01/24/2024Wet but wonderful
Ok. Here goes nothing, let me start off by saying the entire area got a ton of rain over the past few days so.... cart path only! Nothing the course can do about Mother nature. I hover around a 12 handicap. I normally play standard men's white tee. Since no white tee on card O played the middle men's tee titled championship. Course is short on the card but played longer today due to the soft conditions. My group played lift clean and place. And let me tell ya mud mud and more mud on the ball. Tee and greens were in great shape. Ball rolled true. I am guessing in better weather they would be on the fast side. Today a little on the slow side. The surrounding area on the front is wide open the back is tighter and has rock cliffs and Boulders everywhere. If you are striking it well, and keeping it straight (ish) posting a good score is more than possible. 77 for me today, (key was playing it straight and no penalties). I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play an visually stimulating course and have tons of fun. Staff was great and food and drink was more than reasonable.

Well, like most people I read the reviews. And was a little apprehensive.
I went ahead and decided to play. Range needs work but is good enough for a quick warm up. Clubhouse is still under construction but has the basics covered pretty well.
I got paired with two nice guys that said the course is getting better by the day.
I started the round as I normally do, by firing up my taylormade scoring app. While the course was listed and appeared to have loaded. The yardage was all screwed up. About 3 holes in I was so frustrated I was about to shut the app down and just go at it blind, when one of my playing partners asked what was wrong. I explained to him about the yardage problems and he said well the new owners switched the layout by flipping the front and back. Armed with this information I scrolled to the back 9 and like magic yardage was correct but hole numbers were wrong.
I only tell you this since the course did not. If you are like me and keep digital score and track club data it would have been nice to know.
Back to the course, tee's and fairways were playable, greens were average and putted true. The course is more than playable for the value.
In another season it will be a gem in the making.
I will definitely return to play again and see how the course progresses.
Settler's Hill Golf Course
Played On 08/25/2023New track, same problems
The course recently underwent a "refresh" I will call it. Most of the holes stayed the same. There were a few changes, and some worked and some didn't. If you are familiar with the original layout, old #1 is now 18 so once you check in plan on a long ride back through the parking lot down a gravel (dusty) access road back to the old #2 now the new #1. They do have a small driving range along the access road (not that you would know it since no signs or mention while checking in) I should have known it was going to be a slow round when the group in front of us waited for the entire hole to be open prior to hitting 3 of 4 tee shots into the weeds. I say weeds because weeds were everywhere. Through my round I had art least 4 times my ball was in a patch of weeds while in the fairway. I broke two wooden tees trying to get them in the hard ground. All and I mean ALL of the tee boxes were more divot than grass. The greens were not aerated but aeration would have been an upgrade. I don't think I have ever repaired more ball marks on a green in my life just to have a halfway decent surface to put on. I saw only one ranger all day and I mean all day 5 1/4 hrs. That guy just drove by and waved, never checked with us about our round. The one saving grace was the beer cart came by several times.
In summary bad conditions coupled with super slow play make for a horrible golf day. This was the worst golf experience of the season...
For context I am 53 yrs old 12 index play white (mens) tee and play 3 to 4 times a week.

I had never heard of or played this course before now. I knew really nothing about its history layout or condition. Having said that, I had a great time. I got to course about 45 mins before my tee time. Staff was very friendly and asked my preference, go out early or wait. Not often the choice is left to the player. Very refreshing. Well as I am prone to do... I go right to the first tee. Starter and cart staff was very helpful. Since there are three nine hole courses. I was sent off and never looked back. Pace of play was great. Never really had to wait. At the turn, I grabbed a drink and staff was friendly. All in all course was in good condition. As with 90% of the courses in South Florida this time of year it did show some wear from all the snowbirds and spring breakers. But very playable nonetheless. If I had one complaint it would be.... better yardage markers and cart path markers leading to holes. But hey that's minor
LPGA International - Hills Course
Played On 08/02/2021Need a feel good round?
Played the white tee today, found the over all length to be a little shorter than expected. Having said that the overall conditions were great (except bunkers- they need sand/luv) Greens roll true and pins were tough but fair. The fairways were super wide and made for an enjoyable round.
LPGA International - Hills Course
Played On 08/02/2021Good/Fair Beautiful
On arrival staff was super friendly. Course was beautiful and for the most part on excellent shape. My only knock whould be most of the bunkers need work. Not sure if the problem is washout from rain or just not enough sand or labor to keep them maintained. But hey in the long run its a hazard so try and avoid it. I guess?

A lot of blind landing areas off the tee. Several times what looked like a good tee shot hit hard and ran an additional 30 yds down the sloping fairways. So word to the wise if at first you don't see your ball go 30 yds farther and follow the slope to the collection area. Other than that course was straight forward. What you see is what you get. Fair and fun. Is that I would call it.

Played On 03/08/2019Getting better every day
Course was fun, playable, and staff was friendly. Greens and fairways were very hard (wedges to middle of green would bounce and roll though). Now in Florida I expect harder fairways, but greens were rock hard. They putted well (fast and true!) Tee boxes need some love! But were average for area. Sand traps need some love as well (lucky for me I avoided most of the time. Last some better signs would be helpful, kinda had to guess what way to drive down the street at times to find cartpath to next hole. Having said all of this, I would recommend playing it, and plan to return in spring myself. Couple simple fixes (signs, sand, and water (greens)) and this could be a top course in area!

Cherry Island Golf Course
Played On 11/09/2018Little slow
3rd time playing this course. By far the slowest rnd. Not sure why, lots of 2-3 some groups. Might just have been the day but 5+ hrs on a course that in past has taken under 4 is a big difference.
Rancho Solano Golf Course
Played On 11/07/2018Very slow almost 6 hrs
This course was suggested to me by one of my wifes coworker. He warned me about the slow play, but said it was still worth playing. Fir the mist part I would agree, tees ans fairways in good shape, greens had been air rated and sanded (so bumpy and inconsistent) having said all that I would return and play again when greens are back to normal. I just have to prepare myself to wait on every shot.
Deer Ridge Golf Club
Played On 11/06/2018Nice place to spend a few hours
First time playing here, staff was very friendly, course was in good condition and pace of play was good. Got around in about 4 hours. And only had to wait once or twice. All in all a nice place to play.
Hi Kevin, we appreciate the great review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your round with us and hope to see you again soon. Thanks for playing #DeerRidgeGolfClub!

Played On 11/05/2018Nice track for an old course
When I booked this round, my expectations were kind of low (to tell ya the truth). I have played several "old" retrofitted courses and based on those courses I expected kinda a gimmicky layout and poor layout. Having said all of that, it simply was NOT the case. The staff was super friendly. I got there a bit early (about 45 mins) figured I would have to wait since many courses make you wait (even with the tee box empty) untill your tee time since you got a discounted rate. But not here, they said head up to the 1st tee when ypur ready no rush check in with started and he will get ya right out. (And he did!) Worked my way around the course in just under 4 hrs and only had to wait on 1 par 3 for the green to clear. The couse had NO "gimmicky" holes and other than a couple of greens on the smaller size (just 2 or 3) the course was in great shape and super fun to play. Now I am a 12.8 hc so not the greatest golfer, but I found the course challenging enough to keep my interest and playable enough to enjoy (if that makes any sense) if you a big hitter and like to grip-rip-it and go find it, probably not the course for you (unless you super accurate with the driver) but if your like me and play to fat areas of the fairways and greens, this is a course for you. Fully enjoyed it! Will be back every time I am in the area.
Hi, Kevin. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off, and we look forward to having you back!

Staff was very helpful in allowing several groups start on back 9 since a entire HS golf team was starting on the front. It might be a small thing but it made for a much more enjoyable round for all.
Thank you Kevin for your review and 3-stars We are so happy you had such a great time on the course and enjoyed the staff accommodations. Please come back and see us again very soon!

Played On 08/01/2016Very well kept!
Staff was very helpful and freindly. It was my first time playing here. Course was in outstanding shape, kind of a strange layout got to really watch what hole your on its easly to mess up since there are several switch backs and you pass a couple holes/tee boxes more than once. Having said that I would highly recommend it. Out of the three course I played this week (all around Gatlinburg area, it was by far the BEST.
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/29/2016Needs a little TLC
Played the course a few years back, was in great shape. Played it this week and while it was still fun and the staff was awesome, the course needs some TLC. Tee's, and fairways need help. Lots of spotty tall grasses in the area where you qould expect short fairway grass. Would not pay full price. Played on a hot deal, worth the 15 bucks but not close to the 60 they are asking full boat.
Kissimmee Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2015nice track for the average golfer
I live in Chicago and when ever I get down the Kissimmee area me and my two teenage boys have to play around here. It is not your high end resort course. It is a nice player friendly course that is always in good condition. The bonus is the wildlife! I have played it 5 times and only once did not see an alligator. Before you freak out I have never acted stupid around them and admire from a safe distance. There is a small airport that runs next door. Several vintage war planes fly out of there several times a day. All in all a great place for a friendly round of golf with lots of bonus stuff to watch and take in. A must to anyone on a budget that wants to get bang for there buck.
Chimera Golf Club
Played On 08/05/2014over all good place to play
Nice to be able to warm up on the range prior to teeing off. Range balls were included, unlimited so get there early. The range it self left a bit to be desired, grass was very beat up (mats maybe should be an option ). As for the coures it self, very player friendly, lots of open landing areas off the tee, (my drives ave 240) fairways pinch around 260 so if your a long hitter play the back to avoid trouble. All in all a great place to spend the day on tthe links. Ps cart girls was very attentive saw her at least 5 times during the round and the place was busy so, I made good use of her beverages.
Thanks for leaving a comment and review. We would love the opportunity to earn 5 stars moving forward. Hope to see you again soon.
Great! Thank you for visiting us at Mystic Dunes Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
