Oak Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2015I know there's a drought but c'mon!
Course in the worst shape in years. I know we're in a terrible drought but I've played several SoCal courses that are handling it much, much better. The fairways don't consist of much more than dead, dormant bermuda grass that's been sprayed with green dye. Tons of sections with ground under repair and/or over-seeding. Most of the tee boxes weren't playing to their true area (I played from the blacks and a good majority were relegated to gold/white boxes) I was only in a couple of bunkers (they were just okay), but my playing partners were complaining about the consistency of the sand all day.
I like this layout but unfortunately it's just not worth the price premium until the conditions drastically improve. Hopefully El Ninõ will help!

Played On 12/02/2015Minature golf at it's finest
This course is ridiculous. I felt like I was playing a miature golf round with the excessive hills. It might be fun for a "look see" and attempt crazy shots that you wouldn't encounter on a flatter course; I hit my longest drive ever, 374 yards on #12....but the teebox is elevated by at least 100'.
I ended up shooting an 81, but it just didn't feel like I was playing a real round of golf.

excellent layout. really enjoyed the round. greens are exceptionally fast and hard to read. will definitely come back for more rounds now that I have some experience with the blind shots and hidden breaks on the greens.
TPC Las Vegas
Played On 11/01/2015Feel like a PGA pro
What a great course! Absolutely perfect conditions; you'll almost feel guilty taking a divot on the carpet-like fairways. Greens were PGA level quick (I'm talking 12+ on the stimpmeter)...really made me appreciate what those guys and gals can do. I highly recommend this track!
Talega Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2015Challenging but rewarding
Nice challenging track. Loved the elevation changes and blind shots. Several holes play easy with a nice tailwind, but the punishment comes when you reverse and play against the stiff ocean breeze. The greens were somewhat pitted rolled a little slow but it had just rained a day prior. The fairways were for the most part in good-to-great shape; just a few holes had areas with grounds under repair and overseeding sections. The tee boxes were all in great shape and almost every hole offered four choices. Lots of bunkers to navigate around, and if you find yourself in one, the sand was consistent with adequate depth. The golf carts all had excellent GPS systems that showed full length layouts of the holes with shot tips...as well as a cool feature that showed the distance to the cart in front of you (very helpful with the blind shots).
As far as food/beverage options: there wasn't a cart "person" to provide refreshments during my round (I was notified ahead of time that an employee called out sick), and the deli is very lacking in good food choices.
All-in-all I enjoyed the course and will definitely come back.
Thank you Chris! What a terrific review and we appreciate you sharing your experience at TPC Las Vegas....and please don't worry...the grass will grow back in no time!
