Bear's Best Review

I had been wanting to play BB for some time, but never have due to the high cost. My buddy and I earned a free round through Golfnow and decided to take advantage.

The course conditions were excellent with exception of the greens which were just fair. The course was challenging on a number of holes, but not so challenging so as to make for a frustrating round.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities were top notch with a nice driving range, chipping area, and putting green. Though we did not use the dining area or clubhouse per say, they seemed very nice.

Other than the greens being average, the only other issue was the pace of play over the first 6-8 holes. The first four holes were excruciatingly slow to the point that the marshall appeared to get things moving. We teed off at 1:00 pm on a saturday, and we thought we weren't going to be able to finish. As it was, we managed to finish just as the sun was setting.

Had a great time, the course was fun, but with a round running close to $100 dollars I won't be returning anytime soon.

The Georgia Club review

This was my second time playing The Georgia Club and I enjoyed it. I played on a Golfnow hot deal on a weekday afternoon, this is the only way I can afford to play this course. The staff was super freindly and helpful. Conditions were pristine as they were last year when I played here. The fairways were clean and cut. There isn't much deep rough around the course, and fairways are relatively wide, so the play is forgiving. The sand traps were well maintained, and the sand fluffy. Greens were pristine and rolled true. This course is fun too play!

Chateau Elan Woodlands Review

Booked this round on Golfnow because it was a great deal. This was the second time playing Woodlands which I loved. The course was in great shape with exception of the sand traps. The traps were like most in Atlanta they were somewhat washed out due to the constant rain this summer. The fariways, cartpaths and greens were in great shape. This is a Denis Griffiths design, which I try to play all his designs, and had all the usual Griffiths challenges. There are lots of elevation changes, a good mix of long and short holes, undulating greens, lakes, creeks, and mounding in fairways. Hope to play the other courses there soon.

This course was unique

There was a huge contrast from the front nine to the back. The front nine is wide open and resembles a links style while the back nine is a true mountain course with unique and challenging holes. The back nine had several blind shots increasing the difficulty.

Really enjoyed the course however the Pro shop staff were not the most friendly people. Overall I will return to play another round.

Royal Lakes Review

I've been wanting to place this course for a while, and finally had the opportunity and I am very glad I did! The course was very challenging with lots of changing elevations, raised green guarded by deep traps, and water on a number of holes. The greens were not super fast, but rolled good and true. The fairways were lush and green. The eleventh hole was a jewel having to go over water to a landing area and then into an island green awesome! The clubhouse worker was very friendly and helpful. Practice facilities were also super. The only thing bad for the day was my play!

Lane Creek Review

I have played Lane Creek half a dozen times and the course is always in perfect shape. The greens are pristine and fast, which I like. The fairways are always grass covered, and bunkers always have plenty of sand. The course is short, but with plenty of challenging holes to keep the interest. I recommend it highly!

Buyer beware...

I have played this course four times since it re-opened. All previous times I enjoyed it very much, but yesterday was awful! I booked by phone earlier in the week, we played the first nine holes in roughly two hours. While playing the tenth hole there came around ten carts of golfers whizzing past us to play a tournament. They said as they passed by that they wouldn't be in our way. As we pulled up to the eleventh hole there they were. I took us 3 hours to play the back nine! I was so upset my game went to the dogs. My buddy called the clubhouse to complain that they never once mentioned they were booking us into the middle of a tournament, and the person wasn't apologetic and only offered to comp us nine holes if we quit at that point. Maybe he saved the course a free comp for their poor management and customer service, but they lost two future customers! Buyers beware!

Dissapointing

I played Highland Walk on 4/16 and was greatly dissapointed. It is designed by Denis Griffiths, and is a great layout. That wasn't the problem, the conditions...dead mowed grass laying in clumps all over the fairways, and sanded bumpy greens...were the real problem. I wanted to love this course, I drove 1 1/2 hours to get there, but I just can't recommend it because it needs work to make it nice.

Southland Review

This was my second time at Southland, and I love the layout of this course! It is challenging with long holes, changing elevatons, tiered greens, rock out croppings, and water. The last time I played this summer the greens were lightning fast, this time they were slow due to winter play. Otherwise all aspects of this course was in great condition. Fairways, greens, and tee boxes were all well manicured. The one negative as has been stated, there is no return to clubhouse at the turn. Maybe after they get more traffic they will have a food and beverage cart fill that need. The vistas on 17 & 18 with stone mountain in the horizon are beautiful. The price is one of the lowest in the area, and couple that with excellent playing conditions you have one of the best values in the area. I'd play this course anyday over Mystery Valley around the corner which is crowded and not as nice a layout. Don't pass this one up!

Chicopee Review

This was the second time I've played Chicopee Woods and both times have enjoyed it greatly. The staff is super friendly, the snack bar is great. The practice facilities are second to none I've played in Atlanta. They have a nice driving range with a chipping green adjacent to it., and a large putting green. The course is tough with many, elevation changes, sand traps strategically placed. The sand traps were in poor condition this time due to the recent storms and I'm confident they will be pristine again soon. The greens were fast and true. I would play here more often but it is an hour drive from my home. If you live anywhere near Gainesville this is a great option!

Reunion Review

Reunion is a beautiful course and very well maintained. The greens are perfect, roll true and fast, and have some undulation that makes putting a challenge. The fairways have no bare spots and traps have plenty of sand. The layout is very challenging with some narrow fairways, changes in elevation, elevated greens surrounded by traps. The pro shop is well stocked complete with friendly staff. Practice facilities are also top notch. I have nothing but good things to say about Reunion!

Oaks review

Played Oaks for the first time on MLK day. I was the first to go off that morning, playing alone the pace was swift. The clubhouse and snack bar were nice, the staff was very friendly. The course wasn't super difficult with a slope of 118 from the whites. There was enough challenging holes to make for a fun round. The course conditions were very, very good. Greens perfect and rolled true. Fairways were pristine with no bare spots. I will definately play again.

One of my favorite courses!

I play this course often as I love the layout, and the challenge. I was pleased that the greens were now near pristine, rolled fast, and rolled true. The front is the easier of the sides...the back has some very challenging holes. Changes in elevation, traps positioned for trouble, just enough water, marsh areas, and creeks running in front of greens. This is an Arnold palmer design and well worth playing!

Chimney's review

I have played Chimney's a number of times and always enjoy myself. I love the course layout...the front is challenging with holes #5 and #9 being the toughest. Both involve Marburg creek. The back nine is easier, but #16 will give you a challenge. The greens are pristine and the fairways are great. They have a small cafe where they serve homemade food! I had a meatloaf sandwich and chilli that were awesome! Best golf course food I've ever had! Price was right...highly recommend.

Highlands review

This was my second time playing Highlands. I played this course as the second leg of a 36 hole day, and I selected it due to its easy play. The course is in average condition, the fairways have bare spots and weeds but overall played ok. The greens had some burnt areas but were playable. The layout is not that challenging, and doesn't make you think much. If you are on a budget this course is a good value. They have good practice facilities with a nice driving range, large putting surface, and a trap/chipping area. They have a nice grill, and a decent proshop. Overall not a bad deal for the budget golfer.

Ashton Hills review

This was my first time playing Ashton Hills and I was very glad I did! The course was very challenging with conditions pristine on the fairways and greens...the cartpaths were bumpy in some areas but considering this course was closed for a while I was very surprised it was pristine. There are lots of doglegs, traps, narrow landing areas, and two tiered, undulating greens. I love finding challenging courses that make you think...and Ashton Hills makes you think. They have a nice grill, a driving range right outside the proshop, a putting practice area that is large, and a sand area. Nice practice facilities which I have used several times before actually playing the course. The price is a little higher than I usually pay but it is well worth the price!

Hard Labor Creek golf review

This course is on the more challenging side of the average golf outing. The course plays long, especially the 452 yard 16th hole (I play the whites). The first hole is a 426 yard downhill dogleg left over water to a raised green...brutal! They claim it is the hardest starting hole in Georgia...I believe them! The fairways are in good shape, no bare spots. The greens are pristine and fast! The course was designed by Dennis Griffiths who has designed many of the more challenging courses in Atlanta. ..You need to play all his designs! The scorecard is excellent with layouts of all holes pictured, and green designs. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative is its farout location...but maybe that's a positive for those not wanting crowds.

Mystery Valley

I had not played this course in twenty years and decided to give it a play with the GOLFNOW discount. I was set for friday at 12:54 pm and upon arriving the course was very busy. The shop personel and starter were friendly and helpful despite being very busy. The start was a bit slow but opened up after 4-5 holes. The course was in great shape, fairways and greens perfect. I am not a long hitter usually playing the whites, and with this course at 6300+ yards from the white it is longer than most I normally play. The challenges on each hole kept the interest throughout. The back nine is a bit more picturesque with more water. I would recommend the course to anyone as a good value.

Cedar Lake review

I like Cedar Lake...it's front nine is wide open and plays well for a beginner or struggling golfer. The back nine is a bit more challenging but still plays relatively easy. The course is usually in good condition, the greens a re normally speedier than this past week. They have a driving range, chipping area, and a large practice putting green. The staff is always friendly, as is the price. I would recommend to all golfers, particularly the newbies.

Brear Creek Golf

I play this course somewhat regularly, it is a great course. The layout is excellent with some great challenging holes. The conditions are usually very good, with the greens being their best feature, always green and rolling true. My one disappointment with this course is that they do not have a driving range. If you are the type that races to the first tee and fires away, then no problem. Also their snackbar is somewhat lacking. But the course is the star, not those things. You will enjoy the course!
