Cypress at Palm-Aire Country Club

Both courses are exceptional & expensive enough to not get over-played. Golf Now coupon is great! Course is long when factoring wind which can be subtle below the trees, so pay attention to flags. Local knowledge is helpful as to club selection & best places to miss. Greens are receptive, fringes get watered, so higher ball flight over the bump & run is desired. Beautiful scenery, manicured throughout. Practice facility, staff & 19th hole all 1st class. Overall great place as long as serious golf is on menu- otherwise it'll eat your lunch!

Attention to club selection required as there are several risk/reward opportunities. Avoid bunkers due to lack of depth of actual sand. An overall challenging experience.

Country course & all that goes with it. Fairways are rough & signs of minimal budget. Broken tees litter tee boxes, potholes all around cart paths that overall are in disrepair. Lovely piece of land & layout, just needs major amounts of TLC.
Houston National Golf Club
Played On 4/1/2013Not what it could be, should be. Coupon ONLY.
The bunkers on this course are ATROCIOUS due to lack of attention! Why is the question? This is an interesting layout that demands you stay in the middle or deal with the uneven stance the links style berms present. Pay attention to the card because there's more water than you think as well.
The fairways are for the most part deadpan, especially in the summer! There's not a tree on the course, thus no shade either. There are a couple of multi-tiered greens that can present really tough pin placement and are overall smaller than average.
Buyer beware as make sure you have a coupon when booking this course. You're guaranteed to be treated like a "non-member," which is a shame because there are a lot of characteristics of this style of course that are unique.
I'll go back, but ONLY because it's a short drive with the price of fuel.
Faith Bridge Ranch Golf Club
Played On 1/17/2013Decent Greens!
A neat little country course and priced WELL WORTH what you trade in fuel for a quiet round of golf. Greens are surprisingly nice and heap plenty fast. Some brutal holes- namely #'s 5, 8, 10, & 18. If you play the white tees, the driver isn't always the play. Not a lot of sand, the fairways are weather reflective, but plenty of water & natural hazards if you spray it around.
Legendary Oaks Golf Course
Played On 1/7/2013Fantastic VALUE!
The best thing about Legendary Oaks is that it doesn't pretend to be something it isn't! For a rural course it's a wonderful layout, plenty long, contains shots for every club and is staffed by super friendly people! Not pretensious AT ALL! A wonderful place for beginners to learn the game.
The operating budget for this course obviously isn't what a lot of other courses are- however, often the greens are much better than the average municipal course. Carts are efficiently maintained, as well as the trees along the fairways. The lone blemish of the course are the bunkers- they routinely lack raking.
Players who frequent Legendary Oaks are friendly & patient. The course is laid out over a huge piece of property with plenty wide fairways & average sized greens.
You won't mistake this course for a tournament qualifier, yet it remains a fantastic value.
