Merrimack Valley Golf Club
Played On 10/30/2019Merrimack, I’ll Be Back
Played on October 30 in an on-and-off drizzly gray day. Expecting the course to be wet and greens to be rooster-tail saturated; just played it as it lies. Upon arrival, there were two gentlemen that gave you you the lay of the land and was very welcoming and hospitable. Even with the course being wet and cart path only, the place played very fun. The course is seemingly set in a valley and drainage is not its strong point. The layout meanders up and down and through wetlands whilst giving you a panoramic view of the entire property from just about every spot on the course. Tee boxes, greens, and fairways are in great shape. There are lots of penalty areas if your ball strays a bit off line and some tee shots will surely challenge your sense of vision. Trust it and hit it! Plenty of opportunities to score and go low with good ball striking. Wish I payed here sooner and can’t wait until summer to see how this place plays and looks! Merrimack, I’ll Be Back!
Townsend Ridge Country Club
Played On 11/09/2016A differnt look
I was looking for a different visual as I play a lot of golf...just about everyday! This is a fun course to play with a couple of quirky driving holes but its a good place to bat the ball around.
Westover Golf Club
Played On 11/03/2016Straight forward golf course
Most holes go back and forth and are relatively straight. Fun track to play. Interesting with planes and choppers flying overhead. Nostalgic and patriotic course to play!
Cold Spring Country Club
Played On 11/03/2016Fun scenic track to golf
Fun and scenic track to play. Some visually challenging tee shots. Elevation changes and spread out course layout. The 9's have been flipped so you start on a long downhill par 3. A new young course that is sure to grow in and mature to be an enjoyable place to play again!
Hopedale Country Club
Played On 10/24/2016Never playing here again. Don't do it!
First time I played a couple weeks back should of told me not to book another tee time. I arrived and they were closed for a 7 am tee time. 5 minutes late, which I waited and then played. The second time I booked a 7am tee time and which will be my last. Again, closed when I arrived and this time I waited 15 minutes without anyone arriving. No go! Not good. Go Play, but go play elsewhere!
Stow South at Stow Acres Country Club
Played On 09/27/2016Good Solid Layout
The North Course is the better of the two at Stow Acres. Fun track to play when conditions are optimal. The course was in decent shape but the recent aeration made the greens unplayable. Nothing bad to say about the North Course. Play it!
D. W. Field Golf Course
Played On 04/28/2016Play DW! Play DW often!
Play DW Fields! The course is in great shape as the fairways are good and the greens even better! You pay for greens fees and you get great putting surfaces! I have played here many times and this year I've seen a transformation in the course! It keeps getting better! I've heard from others before that it was a dog track. It's in good shape where it's worth the money! It's still a public muni but the greens are like a semi private club. If you hit good shots and can putt well, you'll have a good day.
Crystal Lake Golf Club
Played On 11/10/2015Fun Track - Partially Underconstruction
The Head Professionn is friendly and inviting. Most of the operations have been shut down for the season. The course is in decent shape. The greens were nice and rolled well. Most fairways are okay. The front 9 was the better nine with much undulation and elevation change. The back 9 was standard and straight forward. The course winds through a development of homes and some construction of which I am not a fan. I imagine it would be much nicer once they complete all the capital course improvements and home construction. Good place to have fun and just hit the ball then go fetch!
South Shore Country Club
Played On 10/01/2015South Shore Is A Great Track
South Shore CC is a great track! I forgot how good of a track this was to play as it has been a while. The greens were rolling nicely. On this windy day, the conditions were tough to play in but the course is in a good a shape as I could remember. It is worth the trip even though it isn't a long ride. Pace of play was outstanding and the slower groups allowed for faster groups to play through. i finished my round in 2 hours! Incredible! South Shore offers a variety of shots to hit using most of your bag. The greens are undulating with subtle movement which made them a treat to put on!
The New England Country Club
Played On 09/01/2015Average Overall Rating but Good Track
Sevice and F&B in pro shop were okay. The course is a good test of golf. A little quirky here and there but true New England golf. I don't like the small narrow width tee boxes. I'd go back for the layout.
Ledges Golf Club
Played On 06/26/2015Picturesque Day
Being from The Boston Area and spoiled with private facilities, The Ledges was a fun change. The course was in decent shape. It seems to get quite a bit of play. The course layout is a bit quirky and a tad gimmicky but nonetheless a fun track to play. Players seem to not pick up their feet when walking on the green and seem to not know how to fix pitch marks. The course is in decent shape and soft. Even with the softer conditions and lack of care from other players, the greens rolled pretty nicely. Putting green is nice, however the driving range is basically in another zip code and I didn't use that facility. Overall it's a fun place to play with some challenging holes and a handful of short holes with good conditions.
Weathervane Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2015Must visit, must play. Fun track, nice shape!
Upon arrival, I was greeted by very friendly staff. I was immediately informed on the lay of the land and was let off the first tee. The course is in good shape and greens rolled nicely. A little damp with the prior day's rain and most greens were not whipped or otherwise to remove dew. Fun course from the black tees with some demanding tee shots. Some trimming back of the overhanging trees should be addressed. The bunkers are nice and filled with forgiving sand. Interesting 9th/18th hole. Have fun!
Lakeville Country Club
Played On 05/18/2015Fun Track & Friendly Staff
The course is good shape and very playable. Greens are rolling nicely. Bang for the buck from the tips which forces you to make decisions off the tee. This is a good public course with a friendly staff that is accommodating within reason. Give it a try!
Maplegate Country Club
Played On 05/11/2015Maplegate Mishap
The course is in substandard condition. Greens were bumpy, uncut, and rolling poorly and slow as molasses. The course seems to be in hurt state or hasn't recovered from the winter while other courses are well on their way. Fairways divot filled and unattended to. Bunkers not raked and prepped for play. Just not what I expected since having played here before. #disapponted
Granite Links Golf Club At Quarry Hills - Milton Nine
Played On 04/29/2015Granite Links Deal
Quirky course which requires a good amount of course knowledge. The conditions are usually good when it is not windy. If you can catch a deal on Golf Now then play here at least once. Driving range, 2 putting greens, and carts with GPS help you with your game. Have fun!
Bay Pointe Country Club
Played On 01/19/2015It's all relative & quirky but fun.
First, it was 50 degrees in January, no snow on the ground, and it rained a couple inches the day before. The course conditions were fair as the course was soaked and a few greens were drenched. But then again, we are in the off-season. The course has a few quirky holes that feel like they don't belong but fun to play - par 3 7th like TPC. Pace of play was perfect for me as I finish 18 in 2 hours 45 minutes walking a gently rolling hills terrain. Gentle elevation change made it nice. The only thing that made it tougher to play was the lack of yardage plates and markers thus I was guessing yardages for most of the day. The staff were very friendly as upon my arrival, I was greeted by the head pro Tom. Overall the course is good and interesting to play. If you can snag a deal on GolfNow then do it! Play here at least once!
D. W. Field Golf Course
Played On 09/21/2014Crispy On A Rain-Threatening Day
The course is relatively burnt out and the ball will get added roll out. The greens are in decent shape. Fairly open layout and not too much for penalty. Only a couple difficult tee shots but still a moderate challenge for the average golfer. The day was rain threatening and windy which made the course slightly tougher but it was good for pace of play. If you can grab a deal on Golf Now to play for $35 with a cart, then do it.
