Much Improved Twin Rivers

For years this course had been in a decline but the city bought it and has clearly invested in it. The conditions are simply the best I have ever seen them here. The greens are fast and roll well (my only complaint here is that it seems many of the regular players don't fix their ball marks) regardless, they are in much better shape than I can ever remember. They have improved the drainage of the course and bunkers tremendously. The fairways, bunkers and tee boxes are all in great condition as well.

This course is quite challenging in my opinion. While the fairways are not small, much of the rough is lined with dense trees that you can't play out of and there is a lot of water on the course. Be ready to hit the ball well if you want to score well.

I would recommend the course for sure if you're up for a challenge.

Great Day at Hawk's Landing

The course is in fantastic shape! All but 2 of the tee boxes are great, the fairways and rough are in good shape and the greens are beautiful. I found them to be a great speed too, not overly fast but not slow either. The staff was very friendly and made us aware that they did not have a beverage cart out due to everything going on with the virus. I would certainly recommend this course and can't wait to play here again.

Fun, challenging course

Black bear is unique in that it has some decent elevation changes especially considering it's in Florida. They have a lot fo elevated greens which means you better be hitting greens in regulation or chipping really well.

The course is in good shape overall. My two complaints would be 1) many of the bunkers have raised lips that have not been cared for in a while. This leads to frustrating lies that should probably be played as ground under repair if you unfortunate enough to get into one of these areas. If you are going to have bunkers with high faces/lips, please maintain them. 2) The greens are on the slower side. Having said that, they still roll well and are in good condition overall. The green on the 6th hole was terrible a few months ago. The maintenance staff has done a fantastic job of bringing this green back and it is now in great shape like the rest of them.

Overall its a fun course that is interesting and challenging. Would certainly recommend and will return.

Hidden Gem

I've played here for many years and have seen the conditions go up and down over this time. The course is in great conditions with fast greens. For the price this is one of the better public courses around and is worth the drive. The tees, fairways and bunkers are also in good shape. Will certainly return.

Fun round, slow back 9

Course is in good shape. Tees, fairways and rough are well maintained. Bunkers looked good although the one bunker I had to play out of was a little on the thin side as far as sand goes. The greens were good as well. I haven't played here in several years mainly because the pace of play was brutal. The back 9 was definitely pretty slow as our 4some waited on most tee boxes. The course has undergone some great changes since my last visit. Definitely a different look and feel to some holes but I liked the changes a lot. Overall, I will come back but again, would prefer to see a ranger making sure the back 9 doesn't take forever.

Pay $15-20 more for a better course

Played here 2.5 years ago and had a similar feeling of the course. A friend said it was in decent shape so I went back to give it a try. The cart guy and the gentleman working the pro shop were very nice and helpful. The driving range is okay although you're hitting off a mixture of grasses. I was in the process of hitting the range balls I bought (6$ for about 30 balls) when I was asked by the cart guy if I wanted to go out early (1:30 instead of 1:45), I said sure. Well, its a good thing I did because the pace was so slow that even starting early we were one of the last groups to finish before dark. The course itself is below average. The tee boxes are okay but the fairways and rough have a mixture of typical fairway grass and an assortment of weeds, st. augustine and other types of grass. There are also areas around the green that should just be labeled as "ground under repair". The bunkers are hit and miss, many of which have such little sand that hitting a bunker shot is next to impossible. Oh and some of the bunkers (greenside) have large stones which are sure to damage clubs. Why a course would have stones and rocks in a green side bunker, I will never know. The greens are the best part of the course. They don't look lush and green but they are quick and roll well. That was the best part of the course. Overall, due to the pace of play, condition of the course, I would not recommend and will not return. I'd rather pay a little more for a course I will enjoy.

Pros and cons of Jacaranda

This course is generally always fun to play but for the price I paid I would expect to be notified of the course being aerated in the 2-3 weeks prior to playing. Seeing as how this is South Florida and there are a ton of golf courses I would have simply played someplace else on the one day I get to play per week. The course itself is in great shape but with punched greens it was pointless putting and basically dumb luck if you made even a moderate length putt. The other two things that are frustrating about this course is that they 1) put rocks in the bunkers. Not just waste areas or fairway bunkers but green side bunkers as well. Im not a pro and cant replace my wedge for free because some genius thought that a rock wont ruin your wedge. The other thing is they charge $10 dollars for range balls. A bit much when they recently killed off all the grass on the range and your essentially hitting off dirt. Even when the range is in good shape, $10 for 20 balls is a joke.

Don't get me wrong, the course is enjoyable and yes I'll play there again but these things are frustrating. My recommendation is to call the course to see if they are aerating (because their prices wont go down) and move rocks/pebbles if you end up in a green side bunker.

We sincerely appreciate the feedback. We have been discussing ways to inform guests prior to arrival that the courses have been aerified. With the increasing number of rounds being booked online this has become more difficult to communicate. We will be posting those aerification dates on the Event Calendar of our website moving forward. We assure you we do not place rocks in our bunkers. Unfortunately rocks can come up from underneath the soil and we're sorry you experienced that during your round. While a bucket of range balls is $10, you receive 40-45 balls and we do offer discounts if you purchase multiple buckets. We are glad to know that in spite of these constructive criticisms you still enjoy playing Jacaranda and recommend it to other golfers. We are grateful for that and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Course was closed

Had a good amount of rain the night before but most other courses in the area were still open. Apparently this course closed for the day, didn't notify golfnow or any of the customers on the tee sheet. Drove 30 minutes to find a closed course at 1pm. Too late to find another tee time in my area. Extremely frustrating since I could have just booked a different course had I known the course was closed before I drove out there. Also frustrating since my girlfriend and I have one day a week to do anything together since we are on opposite schedules and this pretty much ruined that day. Thanks a bunch country club of coral springs. Won't be revisiting this place anytime soon. Oh and supposedly they are rebuilding their clubhouse. Right now its a trailer with no construction seen. I would recommend giving your money to a course that might actually take the time to contact their customers when they close.

Long course

This course is long but open. Overall the course is in good condition. The greens look great but varied a bit in speed. The fairways were in pretty good shape as were the bunkers. The rough was pretty thick and long which made the course extra difficult. Harmony is certainly worth the drive from Orlando and is generally a good value for the price. One negative is they replaced the greens about a year ago and they are still pretty hard so it can be tough to get a ball to stick on some of the greens. Would still recommend the course!

One of my favorite golf experiences

Playing here on a saturday morning was probably one of the best golf experiences I've ever had. The greens, tee boxes and fairways were great! The course was a little soggy due to recent rain which made it cart path only but it was still a blast. They have no true bunkers. All sand is hard packed and plays as a waste area (this was a bit odd at first) but hit it in the fairway and you're good to go. There is a lot of water to navigate so make sure you're confident in your shot. It can be helpful to have some form of GPS especially if you're playing the course for the first time.

Overall, the experience was 5 stars from the moment I stepped out of my car. Every single person I interacted with was helpful and genuinely friendly (something many courses should take note of). I would 100% recommend you experience this course for yourself.

Good Experience at Boca Greens

This was my first time playing this course and I was pleasantly surprised. Booked a Saturday morning round which at many courses can mean it will be a long round. My 3some was sent off on the back 9 at 8:22 and we completed our round in about 4 hours (pace of play was good).

The course overall is in good shape. The greens were very receptive, more so than any other course I've played in the area. They have a lot of breaks to them but they roll well. The tee boxes were mostly in good shape but there were a few that were a little chewed up. The sand would be my biggest complaint. Many of the bunkers were very hard, which made green side bunkers very difficult to play out of. Having said that, I have found this to be an issue at many courses here in south Florida. The fairways were fairly well maintained (no bare areas) as was the rough. The only complaint about the fairways/rough is that native grass has taken over some areas so the type of grass you hit off can vary from shot to shot. Not a huge deal but at times can be a bit frustrating. Overall though, it's a solid course especially for the price.

The practice area is well maintained, has a chipping area complaint with a bunker and a separate putting green that was also well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful all the way around and were very accommodating when my girlfriend and I asked about a replay rate so we could play 36 (the pace of play for our second round was even better than the first). Will certainly return.

What a course!

I've played here many times and the course never disappoints. It's in great shape from tee to greens, the practice facility is fantastic as is the staff. It helps to have someone who knows how the course plays. The course seems very open off the tee and on most shots but as you will quickly find out, just because you are in the fairway or on/near the green does not mean you are in a good position. Would certainly recommend and I can't wait to return.

Changing for the better

Since this course is local, I have played here many times in the past. Each year the condition seemed to decline. After having heard the city purchased the course and had invested some money into it, I decided to give it another shot. I was pleasantly surprised! The fairways, greens and tee boxes have improved dramatically. They look and play great! The bunkers are still not great but I would not say thats not a reason to avoid playing here. This course has always had a beautiful yet challenging layout. I would certainly say give Twin Rivers a shot. Looking forward to playing here again.

Great day at Orange Lake Legends

I've played here many times in the past and the course conditions dipped a bit a while back but it's back to prime condition now. The greens are mostly in good shape, there were a few areas on 2-3 greens that had a few issues but nothing to be upset about. The tee boxes were in great shape as were the fairways and bunkers.

The gentleman manning the bag drop Shay was very nice and helpful as was Jordan at the Legends Grill. The starter Joe was friendly and willing to answer any and all questions about the course. While the experience on the course was good, these guys put the day over the top and made us feel like they wanted us to return. The only member of the team that was not up to par was the Marcus in the pro shop. I felt like we were bothering him just trying to check in.

All in all, this course is in great condition and I am excited to return. I would certainly recommend this course.

Great experience at Forest Lake

This was my first time playing Forest Lake. While I've heard great things about the course, they are not on golfnow and I hadn't ventured out to this part of town. Boy, I am glad my group and I decided to play here. We tee'd off at 830 on a friday morning and finished our round at about noon. The pace of play was fantastic. We decided to play another 18 since we finished so quickly so the pro shop attendant sent us out again right after lunch. Again, the pace of play was great! Lunch by the way was excellent. The best $6 sandwich I have ever had.

The course itself is unique in that this part of Central Florida offers some fun elevation changes that the course takes advantage of. Their most unique holes to me were two of the par 3's on the back 9. The tee boxes are mostly all in good condition as are the fairways and greens. Overall, I found the course to be unique, challenging and most importantly fun. It was also a good challenge but also fun for my girlfriend and my dad.

The staff at the course was very friendly, helpful and you feel like you wanted to return. Even though they are not on golfnow, I would certainly recommend playing here.

Has potential...

Overall, just an OK experience. The course is a fun layout with lots of length and water. It offers some holes that you can score on but offers plenty that will bite you. The signature hole is the par 3 third hole which played 145 yards from the white tees and the tips on the day I played.

The tee boxes are in pretty good shape, most of the fairways are also in decent shape. The rough could be better and the greens...while they do not look bad, they are slow and do not roll true.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and they appeared to have a nice pro shop. The range is OK, you hit off mats but they do have a decent putting/chipping area.

Overall, I would return if some improvements were made. I paid $40 for a resident rate early on a Sunday morning which is more than I would pay in the future for the current conditions.

Great Golf Atmosphere

This course offers such a great atmosphere for golf! From the moment you drop your bags off, the staff is super friendly and you can be focused on having fun. They have managed to create an environment that is both about golf but enjoying the game. The course itself is in good shape. The greens are fairly quick, the fairways are well maintained and the tee boxes are good. The bunkers aren't bad either. The course must drain really well because we have had a ton of rain over the past week and this was one of the few courses that wasn't closed due to flooding or cart path only. This course is a bit of drive for me but regardless, I would 100% recommend it.

First time on the West course

Having never played here before, my girlfriend and I decided to give the west course a go. We were greeted at the bag drop by a helpful bag guy who directed us to the pro shop. The pro shop staff was very friendly as well. The starter/cart guy was also nice and helpful.

As usual we warmed up with a few range balls which were fairly priced ($5.00 for 40 balls). The range was lacking. The grass that used to the hitting area for the range is all but gone. So, they have you hitting off of subpar mats which is one of the things I dislike most when using any driving range. As far as the driving range goes, I wouldn't recommend it.

The course itself was in okay condition. The greens were definitely the best part! They rolled fast and were fair. The tee boxes were hit or miss as were the fairways. I wouldn't say any of them were terrible but some were better than others. One thing I found frustrating was that the back tees were missing from a few of the holes. Also, the sand was not very good. Most sand traps were pretty packed down. As with the tee boxes, some of the fairways were pretty nice and others were just okay.

Overall, I would say this course is fun and is a good challenge for anyone. There's a good amount of water and for the price, it's tough to beat. Will return from time to time.

First time playing the Preserve

Let me start by saying I would give the overall experience a 3-4. The course itself is a 4. I usually come here to use the range and have been looking forward to playing here all winter. With all of the snow birds down the course has been expensive and crowded. Today, I finally found a hot deal that was an ok price. The cart guys were friendly and helpful. However, the pro shop attendant (Steve) and another guy who was not wearing a name tag were no where near as friendly. The starter Ron was also not on the friendlier side. The course is not inexpensive by any means and one thing I would expect is for the staff to be much more inviting.

The pace of play today was actually great, although many times I've seen the backup at the first tee and fully understand you might end up playing a 5 hour round more times than not. With that said, today I tee'd off at 12:40 and was done by 3:40 at the latest.

The course condition was pretty good. The greens were nice but were very hard and it was almost impossible to get anything to stick (we haven't had much rain here lately though so I can understand that). The fairways and most tee boxes were in good shape. The bunkers were not good. Most had very little sand or were a bit chewed up. That was the most disappointing part of the course as far as actually playing it. If you just stay out of the bunkers you don't really have to worry about it though.

Some of the other times I've been here, I interacted with Joe and he is has always been very friendly. The range is great and is actually inexpensive compared to Jacaranda. If you can find a good deal online, I would say take it. But if not, I probably wouldn't pay what they are asking especially in the morning.
