Ingleside Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2023Avoid at all costs
I wouldn’t walk my dog over this grass, let alone play here ever again. It’s offensively bad for a place that charges around $50 on weekends.
Brutal carts, awful greens (would rather put on greens that were punched yesterday at a real course). The only thought I keep returning to is I never want to see this place ever again and it was truly offensive. See image attacked of what this place calls a green in peak season.
Save yourself the time and money unless you want to skip the range and just hit balls on “real” grass.
Bella Vista Golf Course
Played On 05/10/2020Best greens in PA so far
This was our first round post COVID lockdown, and we couldn't have been happier. Even with many new limitations on the staff they were all awesome and accommodating. Their greens were the best rolling BY FAR that we have played in PA since moving back from AZ last year (Out of about 10-15 courses). THis course is WAY better than many others charging more or the same rates. Highly recommend.

Conditions always iffy, but good value for the money. Back 9 layout preferred over a few goofy early holes. I enjoy this course.
McDowell Mountain Golf Club
Played On 09/24/2016Rough Conditions
When we called to be sure they weren't in the process of overseeding, the person at the clubhouse told us the course was in perfect condition for this time of year. Sadly when we got there they were ready to overseed any day. All grass was the same height, mostly dried out everywhere. Best part was the greens, but they were not in the best shape either.
Would have appreciated them telling us the actual conditions before we booked. We did enjoy the layout, but the conditions did not leave us wanting to return any time soon.
Papago Golf Course
Played On 09/22/2016Took care of us, will return!
So I somewhat gave up on Papago last year during the Winter as I usually play on Saturdays and they can get very backed up during busy months. Also way too many snow birds like to play here so it can get VERY slow on weekends during busy season.
Today I got a hot deal time with two buddies in the afternoon. Sadly right at around the 10th/11th hole we got hit with a rain storm. Luckily even though we already got through about 10 holes they gave us a raincheck for a full 18 to come back since they decided to shut down because of the rain. We were very pleased with this and the entire staff was awesome! Can't get upset at the weather, but they made it even easier not to do so.
I can't wait to see what happens with ASU taking over. I have heard they may get a new clubhouse which would take this place to the next level. We will return, and very much look forward to it.
Whirlwind Golf Club - The Devil's Claw Course
Played On 09/10/2016Great Course, wish we could enjoy it...
When we booked our tee time for our first round on this course we were very excited to try it. Sadly nobody mentioned that they had a junior tournament teeing off (Last group about 30 minutes before us). No mention at starter box there was a delay (Although Jordan there was awesome and very helpful otherwise).
When we hit about the 5th hole we ran into 3 groups waiting to tee off at the tee box, oh no. Finally as people started moving as slow as they had been, the ranger came up and told us the kids tournament was really slowing people down. They all walked, and their rangers might as well have not been there. Not sure why he needed to tell us that instead of having their rangers speed up play. Nothing offered to us other than a "Sorry I hope it speeds up."
Let's just say that it NEVER sped up, and we played our round in 5 hours and 45 minutes. Keep in mind that at the end of the round it was about 102 out, not very nice conditions to wait 15 minutes per shot.
Other than this course being one of the finest I have played in the valley this time of year, I won't be returning. Great team and course, but how it worked out with this tournament left us all cursing this place.
Troon courses are way too pricy to be playing 6 hour rounds, especially as we move into the busier season in the valley. Sad to leave such a bad review, but this was a really bad experience.
JohnyArms-

Forgot to mention- cart GPS was set the the wrong pin placements. Don't worry though, we were notified of this around the 15th hole... Luckily we had a radar to assist us!
Palmer Course at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge
Played On 06/18/2016Great Course, Great Shape, Great Staff
Everything about this course/facility was fantastic. Some of the best, most consistent greens I have played in the area so far. Except for a few small spots of burnout on the fairways everything was green where it was supposed to be.
Only played Palmer, but it was a GREAT track. Not overly difficult, I shot the best score of my life here!
Staff was great, practice areas were quite nice and not crowded, would highly recommend. Get a deal on this via GolfNow or wait until it's hot, regular rates are far too high during regular busy season, but great prices now for the quality.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2016Great Course!
Loved playing this for the first time today. They did tell us the sand traps would be nasty, which they were. Greens were is great shape and fairways/tee boxes not bad at all for this time of year.
Highly recommended, got a HotDeal which made this a fantastic deal!
Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2016Pine Review
I am a fan of this track. The greens were more manageable than the Palm course. Layout can be tight at times and you need to watch errant shots from other fairways when teeing off on select holes. Overall good conditions, but the pace of play was brutal and it took us 5+ hours.
Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/09/2016Palm Course Review
Overall this is a very nice facility. The best practice areas I have found so far in the valley! I have only played the Palm course so far, but will go back to try their other track.
Overall a very nice layout and a challenging course. There were many areas in fairways that had dead grass, not sure if that is common here as we are in peak season.
Only had 4 stars due to bald spots on some greens and mainly fairways, but overall I will recommend and be back to play here again.
Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Played On 04/02/2016Good track, VERY slow pace of play. Tricky Bunkers
Part of the redesign must have been all those bunkers! There are a few on the sides of fairways that have lips taller than I am, which made errant drives VERY tough. I have never seen fairway bunkers with such high lips, can be dangerous for unexperienced players like myself.
Other than a few spots of missing grass the fairways were in great shape. Greens were VERY hard and quite fast, you need to play a club down on almost all approach shots as they will roll/bounce for days.
Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Links Course
Played On 03/05/2016Love both Biltmore courses, but please buy more carts
For the amount of money this place does I am blown away how they ALWAYS run out of carts on weekends, usually around 10-11:00am.
Great shop, staff, awesome course, the only complaint I have is that they need more carts. When they run out it sends everything into chaos and it gets backed up. Usually not too slow, but weekend afternoons is when you see a few parties backed up on most tee boxes. They also need to invest in nets to protect their patio and fairways off the driving range, if you hit over there your life is in danger.
Overall love this course and play frequently, hope they listen to the feedback!
Papago Golf Course
Played On 01/16/2016PACE OF PLAY
No need to have a ranger out if they are buddies with 4 groups that like to play 6 hour rounds due tot heir bets... We had 3 groups stacked up on all par 3's ALL DAY.
Love this course as it is right next to my house, but after the ranger disregarded us and 6 other groups asking for his help, doubt I will return. Terrible experience for an otherwise great course.
Camelback Golf Club - Padre Course
Played On 01/01/2016Nice, quick course, greens were not the best
Great challenging course, one of my best rounds of the year so far. Everything was great, minus the greens. Seemed to almost be painted rather than growing real grass, they were hard as concrete and VERY very fast. Only other complaint was very poor sand traps, inconsistent sand and not recently raked.
Thank you for your feedback. Our greens can definitely get very fast, so we understand that can be challenging. We are currently in the process of adding sand to our bunkers on Padre, so we hope you'll give it another chance.
Hello, JohnyArms. Thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to apologize for your recent experience.
We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied during your round. We pride ourselves on our providing great service and the high-quality standards we maintain. We hope to see you back in the future.
