Cascata- a MUST play!

We played Cascata the day after Thanksgiving and it was awesome. The entire staff were very friendly, the course itself was in very good condition, a couple greens were not as plush as I thought they would be but considering it’s November that is understandable.

Our caddie Q, was wonderful to spend a round of golf with. He was funny, polite and assisted all three of us evenly, although one of us spent more time in the bunkers than others.

The food in the restaurant was very good with more choices than I thought we would have.

The greens were very fast and with the course being built in the mountains there were not many straits putts nor flat lies. Hint on the first hole when you are behind the hole putting for birdie from 15 feet and the caddie says just to “breathe” it’s best to listen to him. I hit my putt what I thought was half the distance and it went by 10 feet. Made the comeback par putt though.
We really loved the course and the double down package with Rio Secco made it a no brainer.

The pro shop guys were great very nice, along with the beverage cart girl.

Don’t pass this experience up!

Great course, going to get better when the greens settle in.

Really enjoyed the course, shot my best round ever. Played it twice this trip and once last trip. Greens and bunkers were new, I thought the course was great, staff wonderful. Must play. Can someone let me know the type of grass the greens are? Played three different course with different grasses on the greens?

Pace of play was very good under 4 hours for a twosome behind a threesome. Starter told us that the first group was out in 2:05 and told to pick up pace of play. Due to a quick pace of play, stopping for a hot dog or drinks was a no go. The beverage cart was sent out to provide refreshments and snacks when they realized we couldn’t wait for service in the bar.

Overall definitely worth the money and looking forward to many repeat visits.

Shipyard -all 3 courses

Had a great time playing all 3 courses. The greens were very interesting. No ball marks on them and very little release on the sponge greens, putting was difficult due to slowness. Hint- hit your putts harder than normal and take a third to a half of the break out of the read.

Staff was great, wish we would have played there again this trip. Definitely worth the money. I loved the sand, almost like baby powder.

See you in 2019.

Forest Dunes - (don't take 4 Mile exit)

My wife and I played July 1st, teed off at 10:37 and finished with the 19th hole (yes they actually have a par 3 with a sand trap in the middle of the green to play after the round to "settle all bets") in 4 hours 10 minutes. Course was pretty nice, staff was great including the maintenance crew. Considering the northern Michigan location, I wouldn't expect anything less in customer service. It was unseasonably hot and humid for July 1st, 93 degrees with 50% humidity. The front nine is the "Forest" and the back nine is the "Dunes" portion of the course. We were extremely grateful for the wind, made the temps bearable. Plenty of water, and restrooms on the course, beverage carts were available also.
The course was easier than expected, huge greens, deep bunkers, some interesting green configurations, multiple tee boxes ranging from 4900 to 7100. Fairways are wide for those that spay the ball. Greens were fast, but thin. I thought for early July the greens would have been more plush.
Getting to the course was an adventure! We were coming from the north on I-75, and the navigation system told us to take the 4 Mile exit. Our GPS took us on some back roads, and if we didn't have an 4 wheel drive, we probably wouldn't have made it.
Overall the course was really nice, staff was very friendly, and for those that want to play a top course in Michigan this is a must play. My next trip to Forest Dunes would be to play the Loop with a caddie!

Sea Palms Feb 2017

Course was in ok condition, tee boxes were pretty beaten up, greens were nice, fast, over read breaks, bunkers had nice sand, rough wasn't fully grown, course built between different types of residential units. Only major issue was the 18th, workers were digging a ditch so they moved all tees to the front tee box but workers continued to work as we were teeing off right in front of us about 15 feet to the front right of the tee box. I don't know why they didn't just build a temporary tee box after the ditch the workers were building. Besides that, everyone was nice, small pro shop but friendly people. Good value for the money.

Sun Mountain glows

This was our third round at Paiute in 4 days and Sun Mountain was the favorite of the 3 course for my wife. Course was in wonderful shape, greens were in good shape and rolled true. All 3 course are wonderful to play, great option to get away from the strip and costs were very good considering the "bounce back" discount they provided.

See you in 2017!

Snow Mountain it is!

Had a very nice round at Las Vegas Paiute Resort Snow Mountain Course. Greens were not as nice as the Wolf and Sun Mountain, but the overall course conditions were very good. Pace of play was incredible compared to Midwest weekend play, 3 of us played in 3:30. Typical Pete Dye course where visual "hazards" are in sight but not really if you hit a good shot. LV Paiute is a female friendly facility, not all in Vegas are. 18 played a lot longer than the card says when the wind gusts. Great view of the club house behind the green.
See you in 2017.

Wolf course was a blast!

My wife and I played the Wolf Course and had a great time. We were paired up with two guys from Orlando and they couldn't have been more fun to play with. The course was in very good shape and everything I remembered from playing a few years ago. This is my favorite course at Paiute, my wife liked Sun Mountain a little better.
The staff was great, starting with bag drop off, to the pro shop staff, starters (minus Bruce- just joking Bruce, he was very nice and offered a bit of advice for the greens), rangers, beverage cart, cart return personal were very polite and helpful. The club storage feature was great, we played two more days of golf at Paiute and left our clubs so we didn't have to take them back to the hotel room with us.
See you in 2017!
