Hell's Point Golf Club
Played On 12/02/2021Very slow play
2 1/2 hours to complete the front 9 and 5 groups on #10 (3 on the tee) so we played front 9 again (1'50"). A Thursday round of golf is supposed to be average to fast but a lot of folks living in the woods/swamps and taking upwards of 20 min/hole, crazy. As stated in previous reviews, tee boxes are in bad shape; greens are winter length or a little slow; by and large fairway not bad; sandtraps were rock hard. On the plus, great course, great layout, just have to keep the ball in the fairway in order to score. Did notice a couple of the greens have been reduced in size, interesting change.

Played On 05/26/2021Bail Out
Interesting course, at least 1/2 the holes have a bail out area, eg: right of the green is water and left is an open area. Few trees and windy, made for a fun-fun round. Greens still have some sand on them from aeration, this isn't typical, normally greens are fast and fun. Staff was extremely friendly, would turn off work equipment when we were on greens or teeing off- really nice touch. This course isn't easy for me to drive to, only play here once or twice/year, may have to play there more, really had a good time.

Played On 07/02/2020Large landing areas; friendly greens (good shape, albeit, mostly just straight putts).
Open farmland converted to golf course, large fairways, limited trees. Greens were in good shape, albeit, not too difficult to read. Very enjoyable walk. Good course to work on basics for $23/round (definitely worth $23).
Very friendly staff, incl both the pro shop gentlemen and the crew that mowed the fairways-
First time player here: had a hard time figuring out distance, not many of the 200/150/100 stakes were present and I forgot my range finder!!
btw- live by Signature GC (Near Pungo area of VB), only took 37 min to drive to course.

Played On 04/12/2018Greens, a little high on the stimpmeter me thinks
A couple of the greens were very fast, 13-15 on the stimpmeter fast. The par 3, 3rd was unbelievably fast. My putt rolled beyond the hole and then returned to the original spot and then 15 feet past me, off the green. The par 4, 4th was very similar- I 4 putted both holes. I don't play the course often , very windy, have to land it below the hole on the green to make a run at the hole. 3 & 4 were putt-putt type locations, only had 32 putrs including he two 4's. Other than those two holes, fair layout. With wind, played 3-4 shots higher BUT the plus, there are 2 short par 4's that are driveable, nice!

Played On 10/13/2017Windy Day
Wide open course so any wind is magnified- it was a very windy day. Lots of water (2/3rds of the holes) and small /raised greens that took some getting used to. The 2nd cut of rough is 3-4" deep, ball in the 2nd cut makes for a difficult shot. Played with 2 buds, very enjoyable, 3 1/2 hour round. Greens are fairly true which made for a fun putting experience, helped that I played with a member- he gave me a few subtle green reads.. Took a couple holes to get the swing/putting/wind gauged, after which shot ok (4 over on the back 9).

Played On 02/22/2014Winter Golf
Never played the course b4, 60 degrees and a little wet (but hey, its February golf), you could tell the course had a rough winter. Played with my 80 yr old Dad, so it was a fantastic round. 12 par 3's, 4 par 4's and 2 par 5's- shot 6 over, given there are a couple blind greens and hit or miss on the distance to hazards in the middle of fairways- was happy with score (included a double that went into the water, after driving the ball center fairway, into a ditch/creek.... who knew!). Greens are in horrible shape, they need some TLC once the weather turns. ....... all in all, would do it again, fun/fast, some holes are challenging/some not but when you play with your Dad, doesn't get any better.
Cahoon Plantation Golf Club
Played On 8/2/2013Execptional fairways and great greens.
Best fairways in Hampton Roads. Greens were in terrific shape- tough to read in spots (played with a member who shared some tips around the green- where the subtle breaks were). Some very interesting holes, a couple difficult holes and a number of scoring holes- very enjoyable course. Although I paid for a cart, via internet, was allowed to walk (need the exercise)- no issues. Recommend you grab the course summary and know where the pin placement is, tough to score without.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting The Golf Club at Eagle Creek. We hope to see you again in the future.
