Over priced for the quality of the course conditions. Carts are tired.
Cypress Ridge Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2022worn and tired
The course gets a lot of play and appears that it is from a loyal local crowd. For the price I paid I would have expected better playing conditions. Pace of play was poor because you come by the clubhouse a couple of times on the front 9 and people are making refreshment stops with each pass. I think it is a good locals course but I wouldn't make it a stop on a road trip.
Wailea Golf Club - Old Blue Course
Played On 09/11/2016Over Priced and Under Served
The course was in reasonable condition. Carts were held to "cart path only" but was not informed of this at check-in. They turned off the cart path restriction after I made the turn but only after inquiring about the restriction.. Said it shouldn't have been on. All carts are suppose to be controlled by software from the clubhouse preventing carts from leaving the cart paths when restriction is in place. Seems cart path restriction is selective because the group in front of me were driving all over the course and had no restrictions. Or they knew how to over-ride the system. Each time I ventured off the cart path my cart would shut down. They were not apologetic and basically told me to live with it, nothing they could do.
Carts were not as clean as I would have expected them to be for an upscale golf resort. Cobwebs and dirt in the cubbies.
Maui Nui Golf Club

Nothing special about this course other then a GOOD value for being in Hawaii. The course is in reasonable condition except for the greens. Some, not all, greens have some problem areas, the hole locations were not in these areas but if your ball was away from the hole your might have to putt over these areas. The ball rolled true on the greens but people need to fix their pitch marks. Not a lot of trouble so a good course for the mid and high handicapper. Some interesting holes to make the better player think.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The food and bar staff are friendly and attentive. Good Fish & Chips!

This course is a little off the beaten track but easy to get to. The Restaurant is closed on Mondays so there was no food to be had. The golf shop has, water, soda, Gatorade and some beers. The driving range is sufficient for getting warmed up but you will be hitting off of mats. But they are in good shape.
The course is very walkable except for two holes where you have a fairly healthy climb. At 6071 yards from the Blue tees you might think the course is on the short side but there are some healthy par 4's at over 400 yards. The lay out is a bit funky and in my opinion could use a layout change, the 15th hole is not a golf hole and should be done away with. Conditions were average to good for the area. The greens had been top dressed the day we played but they rolled true but a little on the slow side. We had some hole locations that were very tough and should not be placed in those areas of the green. Couldn't keep the ball on the green if the putt was missed. A hole location should never be placed at the edge of a slope. My guess is these hole locations were due to the top dressing of the greens.
This course is good for the advanced player as well as beginners, women, kids...a good all around course. I would play here again if I were in the area. The price was very reasonable.
Laguna Seca Golf Club

The course is a good layout and plays longer then the card due to changes in elevation. You have to think you way around this course, driver isn't always the smart play. There are some challenging holes and knowing where to play the ball is important. There are birdies to be had but big numbers as well.
Difficult to differentiate between fairway and rough, multiple different grasses and weeds with everything about the same length. The greens are slow and bumpy. The bunkers have a lot of rocks in them and are inconsistent.
I hear that the course can be windy but the day we played we had almost perfect weather. The course is in a nice setting without the intrusion of too many houses.
I would play this course again and beats the price of other courses on the Monterey Peninsula.
Creek/Oaks at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort
Played On 09/27/2014Temecula Creek, Creek & Stone House
The Creek 9 is very resort friendly.. There is enough length and challenge for the big hitters but enjoyable to the short hitter and women from the forward tees, high handicapper friendly. Not sure where they got the name "Creek" for this nine, water only came into play on one hole.
The Stone House 9 is much more challenging with a lot of blind shots, elevation changes and tight landing areas. A premium is placed on getting your drive in play and knowing where to hit it. Need to play this nine more then once to get to know your way around the course. Not a nine I would recommend for women or a high handicapper. A lot of freeway noise on this nine.
All the greens were very soft, bumpy and slow. I would have expected firmer conditions for a Southern California golf course under drought conditions. The entire course was soft.
The carts are reaching the end of their life or at least the batteries. Our first cart started slowing down on the 6th hole and by the 7th it was dead and had to be towed in. And all they said was "sorry". Thankfully the guys we played with were good sports but it did effect our play because now we had to rush to catch up with the pace of play.. Also the carts were not cleaned properly and looked tired. Several other people had problems with their carts as well.
A little on the spendy side for what you get but the setting is very nice.
The Golf Club at Rancho California
Played On 09/26/2014Very playable and a Good Value
Having played this course for the first time, the first few starting holes required knowing where to hit the ball, having the course guide book is essential, (it's free). Even with the course guide knowing your line wasn't always obvious.
I played the White tees but could have easily played from the Blue tees, the par threes are the bigger difference. There is an on Course out of bounds that is not listed on the back of the scorecard so be careful.
We played as a 2ball most of the round until a single joined us on the 16th hole, could have used him earlier in the round for figuring out where to hit the ball. I don't know why Starters don't pair people up!
My partner is a beginner and she had no problem keeping pace, we waited most of the day. I found the course enjoyable to play with enough tees to make it suitable for all levels of player.
The Greens were very soft, bumpy and slow. The course was also soft for California being in a drought. Firmer conditions would improve the course. Bunkers could use some improving, better sand without rocks.
