Great course

We played here on a Tuesday, thinking maybe it would not be busy but we were wrong. It was about a four and a half hour round, though so not too bad. The course itself was in pretty good condition, some construction taking place, but nothing that affected a tee box or green. There were two holes that here pretty unforgiving - one was a par 5 that almost U-turned, making it pretty difficult. The other was a par 4 that did a complete left turn, which was also hard. That being said it was our first time playing here, so maybe now that we know that, it won't be so bad next time, and there will definitely be a next time. The only real drawback for this course was the staff. While extremely friendly, I had to go back and ask if there was a starter because I didn't see one and people seemed to be firing at will, teeing off whenever. The guy in the pro shop pointed at the "starter', a young kid who was moving carts and talking on his phone. I never saw him speak with any of the golfers, so I had to go to a foursome that was waiting to tee off and tell them we were actually in front of them, something the starter should have done. Then, on the 17th tee, a cart came driving towards us, which turned out to be the cart girl. Even though our playing partner was mid-swing, she did not stop and kept barreling towards us. I feel that she was never taught, but for own safety as well as golf etiquette, once she realized someone was teeing off she should have pulled over.

Don't be in a hurry

This is my first time playing this course, and I played in a foursome. Two of our four were running a little late, so we ended up teeing off a few minutes after our actual tee time. There was a guy playing by himself behind us, and we were about to let him through, but we caught up with the group ahead of us, so it's a good thing we didn't. Had we let him play thru, we would have been waiting on him instead. It was a Saturday afternoon, but the round took over 5 hours. Good thing we had nowhere else to be. I rate the Staff Friendliness 'Good' rather than 'Excellent', which is a shame because the cart girl was very nice, and the starter, I believe his name was Fred, was probably the nicest and friendliest starters I have ever encountered. However, in the pro shop when we paid for our round, the kid working the register pushed this Advantage Card on us so hard, I felt like I was at a used car dealership. After politely declining and telling him I'm not interested, he kept pushing, which was quite annoying. And I believe that contributed to our tardiness on the tee box, because he couldn't seem to take no for an answer. The course does have some blind shots, which they could do a better job of putting signs up to make first timers like myself aware of. Some of the par 3's are pretty short, which is a nice break from the longer par 5's the course has to offer. Overall, I would definitely play here again, although I would try to go on off-hours, so it didn't take so long to get in 18.

Wide Open Course

This was our first time playing this course. We had a 251 PM tee time, and although it was fairly busy, we were able to get out just about on time. There was a foursome in front of us, and occasionally we had to wait to hit our shots, but that's expected on a Saturday with great weather. When we got our cart, the starter was extremely friendly. The only real problem was that when we made the turn, we stopped in the pro shop to get beers and hot dogs, but they only had one hotdog left, which was very odd considering it was about 5 o clock - it's not like they were closing soon, and there were plenty of people on the course. It was great to get away from the business of DC to play this course, which was wide open, so often times errant tee shots could still be found and played, which was a good thing for those in my group. I would certainly play this again and recommend it to a friend.

Great course

Although this course was a bit of a drive for us, we were glad we made it. The tee boxes and fairways were in pretty good condition, although the tee boxes on a few of the par 3's could have used some attention. Also, a lot of the greens needed some work as well, as it looked like a lot of people either didn't, or incorrectly, fixed their ball marks, as there were a lot of marks around the greens. However, other than that, the greens all played consistently fast and firm. The clubhouse/facilities were nice and kept clean, and the staff members were very friendly. We can't wait to play it again.

Great 9 hole course

Although this course was a short par 3/par 4 course, it was fun. The only downside was the construction going on close by, but that really only affected 1 hole.

Disappointing experience

This was my first time playing at this course, even though I have lived less than 10 minutes from it for over 15 years. I found a great deal on GolfNow, and decided to give it a shot. We pulled up, placed our bags into the golf cart and went inside the pro shop to check in. The attendant in the pro shop, who was extremely friendly, looked up our tee time and printed our ticket. So far so good. We headed to the starter/beer girl (who was also extremely friendly) and she sent us on our way. The first tee box looked great, but once we got to the green, we had our first taste of what the round would entail. On the very edge of ever single green were massive spots of dead and/or dying grass patches. It was absolutely horrendous. And it wasn't even a few select greens that were less than stellar - every green was awful. On top of that, not only were the fringes in horrible condition, across the entire greens themselves there were bumps and patches of different kinds of grass making reading a putt downright impossible. It was also hard to tell our distances, and there weren't very many yardage markers, and I don't own a rangefinder, so a lot of the time we were searching for the closest markers, or downright guess our distances. The only things this place had going for it were the friendly staff, the dollar draft beers, and the fact that it was wide open and we basically had the course to ourselves the entire time. That being said, I am extremely glad I got the discounted rate through GolfNow, seeing as the club itself charges nearly double what I paid. Had I paid the normal (non-discounted GolfNow rate) I would have been furious. My playing partner and I agreed before we were even done the front nine that we would never play that course again, no matter how cheap we could get on.

Fun course to play

We had a great time at this course, and it was an excellent value for the money. The course was under a bit of construction, but the only issue that caused was it was a bit unsightly in certain areas, but those were easy to overlook as the construction never really got in the way of normal play. The only "complaint" I had was that on a few occasions, the yardage from the tee box on the scorecard and on the sign at the beginning of the hole sometimes differed, and I was unable to find a yardage marker on the ground to go off of. It wouldn't matter much if it were a few yards, but, in once instance, it was a difference of around 15 yards. All in all, it was a great course I would happily play again.
