Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
Played On 06/20/2022Going Downhill Unfortunately
I have played Swan Point for years and it appears to be resource strained. The Greenskeeper was in the process of rebuilding the traps on the side of the 10th green which is great but it was downhill from there. The carts were filthy (right out of the cart barn) with empty divot mix bottles on the cart. The fairways were abnormally dry and several greens were burned/patchy with disease.
Golf now rate is good but it does not include the cart. The cart was an extra $20.00 for a total of $45. Overall it still is a good deal but it is no longer the gem it used to be.
Breakfast Hill Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2019FANTASTIC
I played this course on 24 April and it was awesome! The conditions were nothing short of spectacular. I played with Charlie and Phil (Phil works there) and they were a joy to play with and very helpful with shot placement and course info.
If you find something wrong with this course in its current condition, the problem is you, not the course or the people that work there. I will definitely play this course again when i come back this way.
South at Andrews AFB Golf Course
Played On 09/30/2018DEEP DECLINE
The South Course at Andrews used to be its flagship course-NOT ANYMORE. First off, the course was soaked due to recent rains and cart path only-all of that is understandable. However, as a former member (too many outings/perennial slow play issues) I can tell you this course used to be great. I heard the old greenskeeper retired and it is painfully obvious-the new guy is not getting it done whatsoever. The manager of this facility is a professional yes man and the highest paid (NAF-non-appropriated funds) employee in the Air Force so I can't for the life of me understand why this is happening.
They seem to have a fleet of employees around the pro shop doing very little because even the carts were filthy-to the point where they had mold on the interior roof. I can only assume that conditions are going way down because Obama is out of office and Trump has his own courses to play at.
Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
Played On 09/21/2018Lost Season
Swan Point is my normal "go to" course especially when you can get it on a great hot deal. Unfortunately, the course was never in top condition for the entire season. The tees are terrible and 85% of the greens are just as bad.
I don't know what has changed at Swan Point but the conditions are just terrible. I find it very odd that the course would spend money on renovating the pro shop while the course wastes away. Last time I checked customers don't play golf in the shop.
Oak Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/13/2017GREAT COURSE BUT TERRIBLE CUSTOMERS
The conditions at Oak Creek are always top notch due to hard work of the staff. The problem here (like every other course in the general vicinity) is the customers that have no idea what the term "golf etiquette" means when it comes to a players responsibility for taking care of the golf course. In short, the overwhelming majority of customers don't know how to 1. fix divots in the fairways and 2. repair ball marks on the green.
Most courses have divot mix on the carts for a reason but management has removed that option because customers were either filling them improperly or just not doing it whatsoever. The greens are completely pocked with ball marks that were never repaired or improperly repaired. Watch a couple examples on how to fix ball marks on youtube before you head out to any course and help stomp out this problem.
River Marsh Golf Club - Hyatt Chesapeake Bay
Played On 02/19/2017Worth the ride
My wife and I drove over two hours so I could play this course because of the reviews i have read about it. Note: the only reason I am not giving the conditions five stars is because I played on Presidents day weekend and conditions are never perfect then. However, the staff was perfect in every way. I got there very early for my tee time and they were able to send me out in front of a large group. Eventually I ended up joining with guys from this group and it made the experience that much better. I would love to play the course in peak season and not have to pay peak price. Keep up the great work.
Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
Played On 02/18/2017February golf
I was able to get a great golf now price to play over Presidents day weekend. After a brief delay due to frost, I was off to play on an unusually nice February morning. The course was in great shape for this time of year and as always, the staff is very nice and accommodating. If you have not played Swan Point it is worth the trip but please fix your divots and ball marks on the green. You dirt bags know who you are and if you are thinking it may be you it probably is.
Oak Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/18/2016COME ON!!!!!
First off, this course USED to be a hidden gem and that is no longer the case. I say that because the conditions were AMAZING due to the hard work of the staff and the concern displayed by the smaller pool of players. Now that word has gotten out about the course, a lot of the same idiots that ruin other courses in the area have come here. It is amazing to me the level of ignorance or just total lack of respect for the game and course but there are a ton of morons in the DMV who know NOTHING about golf and the etiquette of the game. They play incredibly slow and fail to fix divots in the fairways and ball marks on the greens. Other than ranting like this, I don't know what the golf community can do to shun people like this because they don't belong playing at a course like this-go to Marlton and finish destroying that course and leave this one alone. The same kind of damage was done to Lake Presidential and now that place is gone to the dogs. Please, please leave us serious golfers one nice golf course in the area. My threesome fixed over 10 ball marks on #8 alone. You people know who you are and if you think i might be talking about you-I am. Learn the history and etiquette of game before you show up in sweat pants to play. Lastly, for the staff, I'm not sure the Marshall with the mullet is the guy you want directing traffic on the course.
Mohegan Sun Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2016Hole in one!!
I played the back nine first as directed by the starter and that nine holes had more charecter than the front nine (my back nine) with several blind shots (#12) and undulated greens. The conditions of the course were excellent and the greens were consistent. All staff members I encountered were both friendly and helpful. This course will always have a special place in my heart as I got my first hole in one on #8. I will definitely play this one again.
Augustine Golf Club
Played On 07/02/2016Great Track
I have played here a few times and really enjoy it each time. The greens and fairways were in great shape which always makes the round better. The staff was very accommodating when I called due to traffic issues. Every staff member I encountered was both helpful and friendly-a welcome change from some courses. I highly recommend this course for all levels of players provided they choose the right tee. NOTE: players-fix your ball marks and divots!!!
Lee's Hill Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2016Not worth the hype
I drove 1.5 hours to play here based on the reviews I read here and I was disappointed. The course was fine for a Muni but definitely not worth all the hype it get from other reviews. In fact, the course lulled me to sleep many times because it is boring and very short. Driver and wedges from the tips. The fairways and greens were fine, everything else in between was pretty banged up.
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
Played On 06/06/2015Worth the drive
I had played Raspberry Falls in 2004 and figured it was time to return and I was not disappointed. The course was wet from heavy rains the day before but had dried well enough where you could still take carts into most fairways. The traps were in rough shape as mentioned in previous reviews but overall the course was well worth the money I paid on golf now.
Lake Presidential Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2014Deteriorating conditions
First off let me say that I used to consider this course my main "go to" when I could find a great deal on Golfnow but lately the course has been trending down with poor conditions. The greens are hammered with unfixed ball marks (serious problem in the DMV!!) and the fairways are getting beaten up too. Some of the tee boxes were completely destroyed (# 16 par 3-COME ON!!) Something is really going wrong with the Super or maintenance crew and the course is showing it. The course wants to charge top dollar to play but the current conditions say otherwise. Figure it out quick LP or pay the price of diminished play!!!
Lake Presidential Golf Club
Played On 07/31/2014Dissapointing
This is my favorite course to play in the greater Washington DC area but the conditions are starting to deteriorate rapidly and that is hugely disappointing. Last season they lost almost the entire driving range and now the tee boxes were in bad shape. Golfers in the DC area (either through ignorance or laziness) rarely fix ball marks on the greens but this is getting out of control here. I have to assume the maintenance crew is not moving the pin positions enough because the greens were severely pock marked. Get it together Lake Presidential!!
Snow Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 07/21/2014Paiute Golf
Paiute Golf has three courses to choose from, the Sun, Snow, and Wolf. I had previously only played the Snow course until recently when I was able to get on the Wolf. I can't comment on the Sun course because I have not played it-YET!!
Any of these courses are a great value but the Wolf is special. I recommend that you give any of these courses a look if you are anywhere near Las Vegas.
Hi, thank you for the five stars! We are thrilled that you had an enjoyable round of golf at Breakfast Hill Golf Club the other day. We'll see you again soon.
