Iron play must be sharp with the small greens and tough hazards Photo submitted by chipintn on 11/26/2015

Island Pointe Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2023ALWAYS FANTASTIC GOLF EXPERIENCE
Playing here for over 20 years. Only reason 4 Start for conditions was the course was wet with the rain BUT very playable. Greens will get quicker when it dries out. THE MOST scenic course in the area and for under $50 one of the BEST values in the nation for an experience. It is called Island Point for a reason. You will be thrilled with going to play.
Rocky Bayou Country Club
Played On 04/25/2023An affordable gem near Destin
Was looking for an affordable alternative to the overprice courses in Destin. Kelly Plantation was a $130 simply is nowhere near worth that. Was able to get this course for around $40 it was an absolute treat. It couldn't have played any more difficult since they had the US Open qualifier the day before and did not move the pins. Greens run fast and true, courses going to be fantastic in another couple weeks once all the Bermuda comes in. Tree lined layout plenty of water and very challenging for any player from the blue tees. Gentlemen of the pro shop told me only one player broke par from the tips at the US Open qualifier if that tells you anything, you may wanna play up to the white or play white blue combo.
Emerald Bay Golf Club
Played On 10/24/2021Excellent value in Destin
Got the 1st time available on Sunday morning and we played in under 3 hours. Greens were watered in the morning so they were little slow. They putted well and do not break as much as you think.. I thought the value for $80 on golf now was excellent, we played Kelly Plantation which is massively overpriced at a $199..
Omni Amelia Island Resort - Oak Marsh
Played On 12/18/2020Terrific value for a special course
On a cold breesy day...50 degrees and the course damp from rain it plays long from the blue tees. Pins for some reason were in very difficult spots. Greens were mostly all elevated that created run offs all around. Chipping difficult anyway especially if short sided. Beautiful views mistlybin the back side. Fairways wide and easy to hit. Use the GPS on cart. Many shorter par 4's where 200 off the tee is plenty.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Omni Amelia Island Resort - Oak Marsh.
Island Pointe Golf Club
Played On 10/27/2020Amazing course - you will be amazed and want to go back
Fantastic! I have played here for 15 years but not in the last 18 months. Today was a beautiful fall day and it was tremendous. The new greens were almost perfect and look like artificial grass. The zoysia fairways are the best surface it hit iron shots. I had 4 birdies and stuffed it 4 times off that turf. It is the most scenic course in E. TN and is a terrific value under $40. They are working hard to improve the pro shop and small snack bar right now. Is it perfect - no. They need some sand in a few bunkers. Bring your own sandwiches and beer. Kind of when you go to Sweetens Cove in Pittsburg, TN near Chatt. NO ONE will ever be disappointed going to play. They have rocks for tees and we played the "natural" rocks about 6500. The back tees are 7000+. It can play as hard as you wish based on the tees you play. Greens hod very well. Just like playing darts. A well struck iron will stop very quickly.

Played On 08/26/2020Why did I wait so long?
I live 2 hours away and have wanted to go. I called and was told they were booked until November BUT they had an event cancel and had room. I booked a tee time and was the first ones off on a slightly foggy morning. The course is an amazing piece of land in a valley. As you arrive the first thing I noticed is the practice putting green.....elephant buried there. Crazy elevations and undulations. I joined Michael (picture with me) and Troy and we were off. Course is is perfect shape - literally not a weed! Fairways are wide, plenty of natural bunkers, some water and you can find trouble off the tee if not careful. The biggest adjustment is remember to the right flag. There are blue flags and a white/blue flag. Greens are so massive I think they should have 3 flags - go RED/WHITE/BLUE. When you play 36 - 54 holes in a day more options would be fun.
I played the white tees first, then the blue and then the tips twice. I am a 4.4 hdcp and was 6 over for the 36 holes and hit 24/36 GIR. If you can place your approach shots correctly you will avoid some insane putts that are easy to 3 putt. Many false fronts you need to carry and many pins deep in the green you can not go over.
They could easily get a grill and do burgers/hot dogs for lunch. Simply get a local senior/retires golfer and trade them for free golf to do that from 11-2 might work well. I will be back. I had waited because I could never get anyone to go with me - SCREW THAT - just go! There are plenty of people to play with. I really think if they are booked you should still go. Since when you make a tee time they DO NOT collect any payment so the no show factor must be 10-20%. I think they should collect at least $10 - $50 to make the tee time. Just like many restaurants are taking a booking fee when you place the reservation. I
Tips - bring your own cooler and ice. They do provide coolers with water bottles on 1 - 4 and 7 which is nice. Limited beer available and NO food. No where nice to go close by so best to BRING your own lunch and snacks with you! Think ahead.
WindRiver Golf Course
Played On 05/08/2018Best course in town now
I have been playing here for years and it is now easily surpassed the golf experience at Fox Den or Willow Creek. Course is in terrific shape and greens are rolling well. Your experience depends on the tee box you select. About 6500 from the blue and 7000 from the white. You have to take a cart and believe me if possible you would not want to walk it. Excellent range and practice area. The food is awesome, $3 Blue Moon and a beautiful covered porch with TV’s and a lake view.
Plantation Preserve Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2017quite a challenge on a windy day
What made it a very good experience was the staff was consistently friendly and accommodating. Very good layout and quite challenging especially from the blue tees on a windy day. Par threes are very difficult period I would play it again.
Hawk's Landing Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2017Wonderful Morning, Played in 3:20!
Course was in immaculate condition and plays much longer than the stated yardages this time of year. We played the GREEN tees at stated 6200 yards. All most all the the drives would land and stop! Roll about a foot or so. Greens held very well and were medium pace, very slow up hill. Ample fairways as is typical resort course, nice cart lady too! Would play again. I shot 80 with 3- 3 putts.
Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 02/09/2017Great value, nice track, excellent snack bar/restaurant
Was on my own while on business in Vegas. I joined 3 new friends from Canada. We had a wonderful day, course in excellent shape. It is as tough as you want based on which tees you choose. Excellent breakfast burrito in snack bar and we also had dinner in the restaurant. I would play here again.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 11/25/2015Great value, quick play, beautiful course for Hilton Head area
A perfect day to play. The course was in fantastic shape and the wind was up a little. Greens rolled true and with the wind the blue tees were enough of a challenge. You will not be dissapointed.
Hi "chipintn" Thanks so much for the Excellent review! The pictures you posted are great, be sure to look for them on our Facebook Page. Can't wait for your return on your next visit from Tennessee.
The Quarry Golf Course
Played On 05/18/2015Amazing Layout
Very far course, wide fairways, but if you spray it you will have a tough time finding in the native grass. If you play the “pro” tees it is VERY challenging. Back nine much longer from the front side. Recent rains had the lakes filled and the greens a little slow. You will love it, very unique and beautiful layout. Friendly staff and make time for a happy hour beer and the enjoy the stunning view from the clubhouse. I was staying downtown - exactly a $20 cab ride from the Riverwalk. Only negative was the bunkers. With the recent rain they had done nothing to get them back into shape.
Avalon Country Club
Played On 08/18/2014Nice but greens need a couple more weeks
Played on a day with rain threatening that kept everyone else away. Course in nice shape except the greens. Recently plugged and sanded and are still very slow. They hold well but not putting well. Course was wet from rain the day before. Typically the greens are much better and faster. They just need a couple weeks to get back.
Maybe it was the rain but the bunkers were not in good shape. Many fist size rocks throughout. Some looked washed out with very little sand left in them.
Williams Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2014Tremendous layout
Always a treat to play. The greens may be the best in town and depending on Which tees you play, this course is a great challenge too. From 245 to 110 from the back tees. there is a reason this is ranked one of the top Ten par 3 courses in the country. If you've never played it, this layout, course conditions and beauty will blow you away.
Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2014Wait until the course is in better shape
There was quite a bit of rain over the weekend and it is early - still winter. I am sure in another month of sunshine and work it will be much better, One green not open, one par 4 too wet played as par 3. Do not play Tuesday am, slow with many groups of ladies. Some interesting holes, #17 terrific par 4. Course played long because drives would roll about 5 feet. I should have walked.
