I’m curious?

How does a course that has extremely poor reviews have an extremely rude staff to go along with it. Gotta love the consistency of doing a bad job all the way around.

Hello, Elam. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for your experience during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements. Thank you for playing Quail Creek Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.

Another fail!

So I called regarding try to get a tee time because the web page was not accepting times, I told the gentleman this and he acted as if I was bothering him, His response was a snippy what day, it was all days I told him, he said he would look into it, made no effort or showed any concern and pretty much was a jerk. By the way you might want to update your webpage to 2019 and let people know you completely walked away from Sunset Hills and that is no longer a membership option. Obviously the course is still struggling to find a management that can change a web page and answer the phone.

Time to give the course back to the county!!

I have posted a number of times about the lack of ability to turn this course around and give the citizens who live in St. Louis County a course they should and could be proud of. I play all over the country and most local municipal courses are doing well and have a solid financial base. This once great course has turned itself into the joke of St. Louis golf, once a proud tough layout is now a scrum of a course that makes pathetic excuses and apologies to the people that post on this page. The taxpayers of the county deserve more than a group that grows more grass in the bunkers than on the fairways, greens and tee boxes. I plan on contacting the county this week to find out what their current status is regarding the conditions of the course and how as taxpayers we are being screwed over by another group of lessees who have know idea how to run a golf course. Continuing to succeed in being pathetic should be Quail Creeks motto.

Waiting to actually see improvement

Quail Creek has been in a state of repair and improvement for over 5 years or since the new group has taken over whatever came first. The reviews are the same and so are the courses responses of thank you we are working on it, and the latest of forwarding on to the management team is quite comical to say the least. The management of this course has been making poor decisions since the day they took over, spending money on solar energy, drainage pipes on 10 (huh) and basically neglecting cart paths and other parts of the course that needed repairs. The putting green has been ripped up for almost 4 years and I still think they have not completed the new one. The driving range is dirt and I could go on. It would be one thing if the group who had the course was brand new, but they are not and the time they have had to make improvements has shown they are not fully committed to really making changes, only talking about how they are going to. Sorry to see the same old same old song and dance.

Still lost for a direction

I have been writing bad reviews on this course for some time now due to the available resources it has, and the unbelievable choices it makes in doing anything that would possibly really make an improvement. So let me begin, the course continues to fall into disrepair in its 5th or 6th year with this new group, it looked positive for a while but in the last 3-4 years has nose dived as the worst of what could be the best. The lack of effort to turn the course around is evident, and obvious. After having this amount of time with a super, you should figure out how to grow grass and get rid of weeds. The course has been with out a full putting green for at least 3 years and the one they started three years ago is still not even half way finished. Could it be the weather, bad seed, too much sun? No, lets just chalk it up to mis-management and ignorance. At this point I can only hope St. Louis county has a short term lease so someone with some knowledge of basics standards of the business steps in and turns the ship around. You see the responses from the course about thanks for you response, and try us again, but that is the same stuff they said two years ago and last year. The county needs to look at the product they are giving the residents and not be such a hands off entity, they could change the whole thing if they really wanted to. Think I need to start writing the parks and county to see some changes that really need to happen.

New group showed promise, but went downhill quick.

When the new group took over Quail they showed promise, work around the clubhouse, some trees removed, pretty decent pricing that included a package deal, but then things went downhill.

Over the 5 years the course conditions have not improved and possibly have become worse.
Course Conditions
The greens are ok, but are having trouble, and in a summer last year where the weather was perfect they struggled to keep them up in perfect conditions for Missouri.
The tee boxes are in horrendous shape and need to be sodded with zoysia, not seeded with fescue. How is new grass suppose to grow when players are walking on it.
Bunkers need help, sand and roundup!
Cart paths need serious work
Trees and underbrush- need to be removed from areas where a ball can land to make it easier to find and improve pace of play. AND FOR GODS SAKE CLEAN UP THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF 18 and make it so you can find and play a ball, seriously a chainsaw and weeder and about one day is all it would take.
** they did cut down some trees and this did help on some holes but one improvement does not change the other factors.
PUTTING GREEN AND PRACTICE RANGE
OK, so the putting green has been cut in half and looks horrible and has been this way for two years because the new practice green never was finished.
The driving range is horrible, no grass, full of weeds and just needs to be re-sodded PERIOD!

MANAGEMENT
All the above issues obviously lie with the above title!
I heard they let go the person in charge of both courses, and I will say that is a start. Pricing which is dictated by management is a joke, $55.00 the last couple of years to play that course, is insulting to players who understand what other golf courses charge in much better condition. Location means jack when your course is in bad shape. Their player plan is overpriced and has little creativity or common sense. Why would I pay $20. 00 to play there sister course at twilight( it is not a good course), when that is the same price as Quail at 9:00 on Saturday. It does not make any sense. On top of the pricing issues they offer no GHIN or other discounts that should be included to make it something special. And no the club fitting is through a outside contractor.

I do wish them good luck, but based on the decisions made over the last couple of years I am not sure if they are going to be able to recoup the players they already lost.
