It's public on the west end of town, worth playing

The course has amazing bones. Lots of hills (bluffs) and the greens are pretty good. The past rounds i've played the greens were sandy... but they weren't today. The back 9 is more fun than the front, and there are two reachable par 5's that can help your score. I wish the finishing couple holes were more interesting, but otherwise it's a nice public track in an area where EVERYTHING is private.

Unique doesn't begin to describe the Dooooons

This course is one you've got to play a few times to judge. It's currently under a huge facelift (I think) and I was able to grab a membership for under 300 this year. I play alone at 6am a couple time a week.

The course has 6 par 5's that are all reachable, 4 par 3's on the front 9 and beautiful views all across the property.

It's also a mess, has a weird signage obsession and the greens can be borderline unfair, with turtle shelling on almost every green and more undulations than the river on a windy day. If you strike the ball well and can bump and run you can make some really good scores. I would suggest playing with someone who's been there before.

I hate that the practice area is a drive away from the course and clubhouse, and that the driveway in, though really pretty is speed bumped every 20 feet.

The drive into the course is beautiful the first time, you will see wildlife and you can even whack a ball at a train as it passes by on the 12th and 13th hole. If the construction goes well (and it is improving) this course will be a must play (at least to say you've been there) again.

Balance of links and woods, great greens.

I love Tanners. It's a challenging course and when I play there, I always feel like I need to strike the ball and putt well to achieve a score I am proud of. I have never felt like I lucked into a good score there.

The greens are stellar. Best thing about the course. The worst thing? The bunkers are sometimes rocky and not consistent around the course. There are some wet/damaged fairway areas but mostly they are in good condition for a public course getting so much play. When the fescue grows out, the course plays like a true links, especially on the front 9. You've gotta hit fairways. If you're a player who tends to block the ball or hook it... missing left isn't ideal on nearly any hole. As a lefty, it's been great to play here so often to learn to hit a draw!

I hate that the 14th green is in the landing area of errant tee shots from the 12th tee... but that's about it for layout complaints.

The finishing 4 holes are always something I look forward to, with two reachable par 5's and the beautiful (and short) 17th.

For the locale, it's as good as you'll get for drivepast country

This course has some really confounding signage and paths. I was trying to bust 18 and almost got lost finding 5, 10 and 18.

That said, this course is a no-frills, little trees parkland/links/swamp course. The fairways and greens are surprisingly good, but the views and random areas of water, mud and garbage were really a drawback. It's a very plain course where the holes (especially the front 9) felt like the same hole just differing lengths. Not much undulation in Rush City. If you're on your way north on 35.. wouldn't hurt to pop the 30 seconds off the ramp and go play though.

A player's private club, great condition, awesome practice area

This is a walkable and challenging private course. It's beautifully kept, has no unfair holes or blind shots. If you're playing well you can score, but if not, you'll get into trouble.

Lots of scoring chances on the back 9, and 10 and 11 are beautiful holes that play tough.

The course has the prestige it does for a reason

This course is as hilly and difficult as you hear about when you are told about WBYC. That said, it's in perfect shape and beautiful. If you're playing there, you're likely with someone who's played before and you should take their advice. Blind tee shots abound and you need to be careful where you're placing the ball on the greens.

It's as nice as greens, boxes and fairways get- at least in a state where we can't play for 4 months a year.

Beautiful, great layout, fun holes. Did I mention beautiful?

This course is the epitome of a private club. Great clubhouse (that feel like you're in a place of quality immediately) really kind staff, great white sand bunkers. You can play really fast during the week- and while i'm sure it's busier on weekends, where else would you want to be? I really liked the par 5's.

The very long par 3's were a surprise, but the short 13th is one of the most beautiful par 3's I've ever played. Just gorgeous.

Time to close down the dying dinosaur

This course was once a nice place to come play a muni round after work in Minneapolis. It flooded and the fairways and rough and even teeboxes have never recovered.

It's kinda sad. the staff is really nice, the clubhouse is fine, the carts seemed to run... practice area is good.

just a waste of money and resources when there are other (better) mpls munis out there.

Best public course in the Western suburbs, if not the twin cities

CTC is hard, gorgeous and a really fun place to play golf at. We played the combo tees, and as a group of young guys playing with sub 5 handicaps... we got annihilated until we started managing the course better and knowing that you can't go after every hole without a plan. Notable holes are 1, 2 and 9 on the front and most of the back 9! it's a course that you will want to play multiple times if the price isn't too hefty, which is sadly is for most of us.

The practice facility for someone like me who likes to warmup is one of the best at a public course that I've seen in MN. The short game chipping area and multitude of balls is something you'd only expect at a CC or resort.

If you're an errant shooter off the tee you're gonna have a bad time. if you can move to chaska or chanhassen, I believe locals pay 20! Might be worth relocating...

Phenomenal course. If you like links golf and varying challenges, it's all you.

I love this course. It's a top course in MN and you'd be hard pressed to get a better public track on the east side of the Twin Cities. It's considered a premium public course for good reason. The greens are fast and consistent- and you can three putt just as easily as roll in a 20 footer. The bunkering and waste areas are a great view, and if you bring your best game, you can make some great shots using the slope of the undulating greens. The varying lengths of all the holes, and ease of navigation makes every round different.

I have no complaints about the course, other than how hard it can play when the wind is up! Bring your best sand game.

If I dig really really deep for a complaint, I guess it would be the road noise from I94 only being a few trees and an access road away, and that it can be hard to get to the location if you're unaware of how to navigate to it. Once you reach the parking lot and appreciate the view from up on the hill, your concern about finding the place will be replaced with awe. Love it!

It's pretty and exhilarating, but like a pretty girl- hard to understand and infuriating

This course is incredibly hard. There's no way to say it more simply. It can border on unfair, when you're seeing straight tee shots end up at the bottom of a ravine or in a grass bunker- but if you're hitting the greens and they're receptive, it will be a memorable golf round. It's really the most fun i've had struggling to shoot in the 80's as a three handicap.

I don't think you'd want to walk this course. It's long and with the trouble and length between tees it would be arduous. Spend the extra money (it's already a splurge) and cart. There were a lot of golfers out there, and it's a tough slog, so it doesn't have great pace of play, even on a weekday. Prepare to be frustrated, but want to play it again right away. Some of the homes on the course will make you question life decisions.

Short, but fair and in amazing shape.

Some people might be annoying by the shortness of the course, but I personally liked the challenge of having to leave the big stick in the bag. It's on such a small plot of land you have to credit the designers.

Clubhouse and practice areas are as good as anywhere and the staff is overtly helpful. I love the mid-short game area... for 90 and in shots. They use the hills well, especially on the par 3's.
