Alpine at Boyne Mountain Resort
Played On 09/20/2015Great End to A Great Trip
The Alpine was a great way to cap off a wonderful buddies weekend. It was a such a fun course, i could see our group playing there and never get bored, bringing back plenty of stories (both true and well, false ha!) The views overlooking Deer Lake are as stunning as the condition of the course, definitely a worthy spot for the Michigan Tournament of Champions. We didn't get the chance to go, but Avalanche Bay Water Park looked like a fun spot to hang out! Seriously, if you are planning a buddies trip, make this your last stop, it guarantees you have a really fun, memorable finish to your trip!
The Quarry/Preserve at Bay Harbor Golf Club
Played On 09/19/2015Another Arthur Hills Gem
Arthur Hills fan here, and on this wonderful track, he certainly did not disappoint. Its amazing cliff-top and dunes setting is a thing of beauty, the Links has to have the most beautiful setting for any golf course on the Great Lakes. The 7th hole was my favorite and not just because i made a clutch birdie there in my buddies' match! It easy to see how this makes the top 100 lists consistently, good golf, great scenery and a friendly staff make this a place i can't wait to come back to. Helpful tip: try and time it so you play the 9th hole of the Quarry right at sunset, trust me, you won't be disappointed. we weren't!
The Heather at The Highlands (Boyne)
Played On 09/18/2015Historic Charm, Awesome Track
First off, the location couldn't be better, it was right next to the Boyne Highlands lodge so boom, easy to get to. This has to be one of my favorite Robert Trent Jones design i've ever played, my buddies and I really had a wonderful time. Conditions were fantastic, pace of play was pretty darn good, just overall a wonderful experience. It was a good start to our Michigan buddies golf trip as we have a lot of different skill levels, so everyone had a fun time.
Man O' War Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2015Pure Golf
Man O' War is pure golf. I loved the course, could be my new favorite Myrtle Beach course, it's definitely a must play if you are in the area. We saved the best for last on our buddies trip, we all left extremely happy. Great test for every handicap level, used all our clubs to hit different shots. Staff was kind and courteous, play moved right along even with the amount of water hazards. You have to play it, there's no question.
The Wizard Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2015Yes, The Wizard is Magical
Ok, i'll say it early, the Wizard is magical. One of the best courses I've played in the Myrtle area. Went with my buddies for a weekend trip, really glad to play this links style course. Didn't expect to find a links layout in the area, but boy what a gem. Great elevation changes to it as well, has to be the highlight. Course was in great shape, everyone is friendly, it's golf as it should be. Check it out!
Witch Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2015Buddies Trip Winner
Played The Witch Golf Links on a buddies trip, and boy where we pleasantly surprised. The course is really well maintained, great value, and just a ton of fun to play. Plenty of challenge for the good players in our group, some good forced carries and green complexes. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Myrtle area, and gladly play again.
