As the title indicates Rancho Manana is just that. Two very different nines that challenge you to be very precise on the front where risk/reward faces you thru elevation changes and narrow fairways. Breathing is easier on the back with flatter terrain and wider fairways. Be ready for the greens to become a little bumpy in the afternoon as the greens have significant poa grass in them. Overall a good experience to play every couple of years, but not an everyday course layout. Restaurant setting and food at Tonto Grill and Bar are amazing!!!

If you are wondering why I gave this course spoke solid ratings but average overall is because " normal" rates for this track would be too much for quality and layout of the course. Does not come to the standard of other resort courses I've played.
We just happened to play on Mother's Day when great deals were available all over town for 50% less than normal rates. Fairways are flat and wide and there are a considerable number of bunkers to avoid. Greens are large and smooth but some had grass that was thin. The definition of collar to green was sporadic as those mowing did not mow a consistent line edge around the green. Several times I found greens mowers cutting into the collars.

Course was pretty empty for our scheduled 1 pm tee time so we were able to tee off 15 minutes early. Greens had been punched week before and the course had been open for maybe 5 days but the greens still ran a little slower than normal. We played in less than 3 1/2 hours as a twosome. Have played the course​ multiple times and enjoy the layout. Generous fairways and straightforward greens make it a forgiving course for good scoring.

Due to the late start of a 9 hole tournament on adjoining course made for a very slow front nine. Back nine played in less than two hours. Green and fairways in great shape!!

Traditional Sun City layout for 1973 build. Wide fairways and little trouble encountered. Good bar with great Happy Hour drink pricing.

Do not play this course under current conditions. The green complexes are new and "not" ready for play. Grass is sparce and surfaces are hard as as.rock making it extremely difficult to hold approach shots and putt. Only open since November, pro shop did not make us aware of this when we checked in. Would.have asked for a refund had I known before.playing. All they said afterwards was, sorry w e did not tell you this at check in. Not a.good value at any price.right now and would be unfair.to expect anyone to post scores with greens like this. Only time will this current problem and keeping people off of them so they can grow.

Still a good track and value for the money. Troon does a nice job of maintaining a busy golf course. Still a little drive to get there but worth the trip for a good game of golf.

Some of the greens were fast from back to front. Star as ight forward layout with decent golf for the money. Open fairways and some trees with an old course like this.

Disappointing!
Very little grass in roughs, spotty fairways and porta pottys. Bunkers lacked sand and were poorly groomed. Greens were ok but facility is old and run down. At a price just over $30 it is too much for the cost vs similar priced courses played in Phoenix area. The public deserves better in city run courses.

Grandview is it traditional mature track. Back nine better than front in condition and hole layout. Restaurant/bar really jumps with activity!

A windy day throughout Phoenix made for challenging playing conditions. The wide fairways helped even though several holes played really long. Greens were.fast and fairways firm. Active CC with good golf for value. Played a 1 pm shotgun for second time, and as before played in four hours,YES!

Due to cart path only place of play from overseeing lagged early, but sped up as round progressed. Very cordial staff. Nice wide fairways and greens with relatively flat surfaces made good score possible as long as you avoided numerous bunkers around greens and strategically along fairways. Would play again!

Excellent course conditions. Straight forward layout that won't beat you up with difficulty. Smoothe greens! Makes for an enjoyable day! Not a bombers course.
