Sapelo Hammock Golf Club
Played On 03/24/2017Intereresting Course at a good price
Enjoyed our round here. Friendly staff and good pace of play. Many of the holes were interesting and unique. The greens were a little rough but it was early spring. Would definately play here again. A little out of the way, but the price was reasonable.
Heritage Oaks Golf Club
Played On 02/22/2015Excellent condition and value!
Ths course is 30 min from Saint Simons Island. The staff is friendly and the course is in excellent condition. Lots of sand and water and the greens are somewhat tricky. The carts even have GPS built it. We paid $40 for 2 with a cart. Call the pro shop directly to get this rate. Excellent value, especially for the area. Will definitely play again.
Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
Played On 01/05/2015Good value --- Some challenge!
This is a well kept and friendly course that winds through a housing development. Lots of water, sand, tricky greens and some narrow fairways. I did loose a few balls! My wife shot her best game ever, me not so much. Good value for the area and very close to downtown. We will definitely be playing it again.
Patriots Point Golf Links
Played On 12/26/2014Round ruined by Marshall
I played this course several years ago, and was excited to play it agin. We booked a tee off for 8:00AM for 2 players. We arrived slightly early. Check in was pleasant and we were ready to go at 7:50. There was no one in front of us. The starter although pleasant, held us back from teeing off, while we waited for another twosome. We sat there for 15 min waiting. Finally we teed off. There was pools of water all over the fairways, the bunkers were full of water and it was cart path only. On the 4th hole we teed off and the Marshall approached us and told us to speed up our pace. It was cart path only which slowed us down, as well only 40 minutes has passed since we teed off. He was not pleasant about it. There was a fast group behind us of 3 players, which may have been the problem. It left a bad taste and spoiled the enjoyment of the round. In the end we were done our round in 3 hours and 45 minutes. That is not slow play. I will play my rounds at other course from now on. Given the price, condition and service, I would recommend golfing elsewhere.
Sand Point Golf Course
Played On 09/17/2014Nice Course -- Tricky Greens
Got a good deal on GolfNow and had never played this course. even though I have lived in the area for years. Staff is very friendly and course has a very casual feel to it. The holes are plenty long. The greens are very tricky and often when I did hit a green, the ball would trickle off to the edge. I would call this course a "hidden gem".
Canadian Golf and Country Club - East
Played On 06/26/2014Excellent Course with Friendly Staff
Course is in excellent shape and we found the staff to be very friendly. There had been a large storm the night before, so it was cart path only. The course has both water and sand on some holes. Pace of play was very fast and we were done 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours.
Quarry Hills Country Club
Played On 3/28/2013Good Course and an Excellent Value !
We picked up and excellent price on GN, so decided to try this course. We played on a cooler day so the course was not busy. The guy in the pro shop was super friendly and gave us all the info on the course. They had pulled a cart our for us and we were set to go. The course has a variety of tee boxes. I played from the gold and my wife used the reds. Each hole has an excellent picture which is great for first time players. My GPS had this course in it, so yardage was a breeze. The course has lots of elevation changes, water and sand. There are a couple of interesting and tricky holes for the first timer at the course. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape for this time of year. The only negatives were the cart path could use some repair and the tee box markers were a little hard to spot. I would definitely play this interesting and friendly course again. A great experience and value.
Black Mountain Golf Course
Played On 03/20/2013Nice Intersting Course. Excellent Value.
We recently played this course while staying in Asheville. The course is only a 20 min drive from Asheville. The guy in the pro shop was very friendly and gave us all the info on the course. Although it was a cold day, there we lots of locals out playing. Surprisingly, lots of them were walking, as it is a very hilly course. We had a cart included in our green fee, so went with a cart (good decision). The course has lots of streams throughout and lots of elevation changes. There was a choice of 4 different t-boxes. Each hole had a diagram to show you the holes info. The greens were in excellent shape and very interesting. Hole 17 is a long Par 6 and hole 18 is played across a road. I found the course very interesting and we really enjoyed our round. I would highly recommend this course when you are in the area. For $20 with a new cart, it is an excellent value.
Crowne Plaza Tennis & Golf Resort
Played On 3/17/2013Confusing, Poorly maintained course
We decided to try this course as it was close and reasonable. First problem is finding the pro shop. There are some signs that point towards the pro shop but no sign on the pro shop. Turns out it is in the same place as the pool. The guy behind the desk was pleasant enough but ended up charging us more than the reservation price. Next problem is finding the first tee. Again no signs, so had to ask. The course itself is in poor shape and somewhat confusing. Some of the holes had almost no fairway. The course does have many elevation changes and lots of streams and ponds. Next time will drive a little farther and try another course.
Trident Lakes Golf Club
Played On 2/22/2013Good price for an average course
The green fee of $22 makes ths course a gret deal. It is on sub base which is kind of fun. The greens are tricky and in excellent shape. The fairways could use some work. Lots of water and sand for challenge. An enjoyable round. Great carts and friendly staff.
Indian Valley Golf Course
Played On 2/4/2013Good Muni at a Great Price!
GN had a great price at this course so we decided to try it. The golf shop was super friendly and we were able to tee off right away as the course was not too busy. Each hole has an excellent picture that shows you all the hazards. My GPS had this course in, so yardage was easy. Los of sand all over the course especially around the greens. The fairways were good for winter and the greens were excellent. The back 9 was a little slower as we had a foresome walking in front of us. Overall a great experience and I would definitely play this course again. They had really nice new carts and the green fee was a great bargain.
Jekyll Island Golf Club - Pine Lakes Course
Played On 1/21/2013Good Course at a Great Price !
Based on some reviews I read, I was not expecting much from this course. I was wrong. The facility has 3 golf courses. We played the Pine Lake Course. First of all, the price from Golf Now was great. Under $20 for 18 with a cart on a Sunday. The front desk and starter were all friendly. Although the course was busy, the pace was great. The course is in good condition, lots of different tees to use and lots of variety. Both sand and water on some holes. We really enjoyed our round and will be back.
The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
Played On 1/8/2013Nice course
We got a discount of more than 50% by booking in the afternoon. The course is in the north part the island about a 30 min drive from the Resort. The location information on Golf Now is not correct.
We arrived 30 min early. The pro shop said we neede to wait until our tee off time to go. Seemed silly as no one went out in the 30 min we were on the range. When we were ready to go out, there were now 4 groups ready to go.
We were 2 golfers and we were paired up with a 3rd single. As we had not played the course before, it was helpful to get some tips. The course is in good condition with some tricky greens for putting. Water comes into play on some holes. There is lots of sand bunkers. Some of the holes in them back 9 go out into the marsh which is unique.
I would not pay the full price to play this course but would play again if I got a discounted green fee.
Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 1/6/2013Excellent Course with Friendly Staff
We played here early in January and early in the day. The course was not busy at all, which made for a very relaxing and quick round. Course is in good shape with some tricky putting on some of the greens. Water comes into play on some holes and there is lots of sand bunkers. The staff was warm and friendly. For a green fee of $39 right on the island, value cannot be beat. Will be back for sure.
The Marshes Golf Club
Played On 8/3/2012Not worth the money and a bad experience!
Lots of problems with this course. When we arrived, the pro shop guy was more interested watching TV than serving us. We had booked a T-Time but he tried to move it to a later 30 min to pair us up with another twosome. We went down to the started at our booked T-time and got out on time. The carts used to have GPS but no longer do. There is no course diagram at the holes or on the scorecard, so you have to guess what each hole looks like. The course is covered in goose droppings. It is everywhere.
On the good side the course is challenging and pace of play was excellent.
Overall I would not return to this course. There are way better ones in the Ottawa are for the money.
