I played this course seven years ago and it was In wonderful shape then. Loved the layout, the condition, the pro shop amenities and the neighborhood.
Six years later, the course condition is struggling. The greens on the first four holes were virtually unplayable. One of the par four holes on the front nine had been shortened to 80 yards, apparently while they attempted to grow grass again in the fairway. Actually, the majority of the course could have used more fairway grass. The course looked neglected, along with the bunkers, which were in pretty bad shape too.
The back nine was better than the front, but overall the course was nothing near as playable as it was was back in 2017. Kind of surprising, because the course winds through a community of $700,000 and up homes on large, perfectly manicured lots. Don’t really think the homeowners could be very pleased with this mess of golf course running through their otherwise beautiful subdivision.

This truly could be a very special course. Tremendous staff. Wonderful layout, lush fairways and beautiful greens, but the bunkers ruined my experience. All of the bunkers were unplayable. Most were filled with water - although it hadn’t rained for four days. The ones that weren’t were more like dirt traps than bunkers. Impossible to play a true bunker shot out of them. This is not a one hundred dollar a round golf course.

Played On 06/08/2017Super Great Layout!
First time playing this course. One of the better municipal courses I have played. Really enjoyed the layout and the course was in good shape. A bit of a drive from Fort Worth or Dallas, but well worth the trip! I will definitely be playing here again. The only drawback was the long wait to check in at the pro shop counter, and the longer wait for food at the grill. Only one person at the grill for breakfast and lunch. They could use some more help. Still had a great time overall, and look forward to my next trip out here!

I really enjoyed this course. A really nice layout in a wonderful golf course community just outside Weatherford. The greens were slightly sub-par, like most in the area this spring. I believe this is a product of the mild winter combined with the late frost. Watch out for the 13th. It is a par four with water on the right that is visible. There is also water on the left that is not visible from the tee, and snakes across most of the fairway in front of the green. It is rated as the number two handicap hole, but I would rate it as the most difficult hole on the course. A great challenge and I look forward to playing it again soon
The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. Overall a very enjoyable day, and well worth the drive!

Played On 03/31/2017A Wonderful Golf Course
This was my third time playing this course over the last three years. My only "complaint" last June was the restaurant didn't serve breakfast. Must be a pretty good course if that is the only complaint. And lo and behold there were complimentary breakfast sandwiches provided to us on 3/31/17. Much appreciated! As always, the staff was wonderful. The layout of the course is one of the best I've ever played. We finished our round in just under four hours. The greens were a little out of shape. I think the groundskeeper is having trouble eradicating some invading "weeds" on the majority of the greens. Not a huge problem, but slightly concerning. I really like this course!!

A cold, blustery day for golf. I was one of the few brave souls who thought golf was a good idea. The course was in amazing shape! Tees, fairways and greens were fabulous. Bunkers could have used a little work, due to the recent rains, but overall I was very impressed. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and there were some good specials on clothing in the clubhouse. The grill was limited and the food selection was limited to hot dogs, chips and packaged snacks. Despite the weather, I had a wonderful day, and will be back soon!!

A really nice golf course, much more challenging than I anticipated. The course is not long. I didn't use my driver until the fifth hole, and didn't really need it then. Thare a lot of trees off the narrow fairways that come into play. A fair amount of water, and plenty of sand traps. The greens are fast and undulating. I was a little disappointed in the bunkers. The sand was pretty packed and looked like it needed to be turned over. Additionally, the water level in a lot of the ponds surrounding the greens seemed low. A very accomodating staff, and the members I played with were terrific!

Played On 09/23/2016A Wonderful Day of Golf!
My first time playing this course and I thoroughly enjoyed my round of golf here! A really nice layout in tremendous condition. The greens were very challenging and in very nice shape. Keeping the ball in the fairway was rewarded. Any other shot was penalized with long rough, or by the nearby out of bounds.
The staff was friendly and efficient. The pro shop was small, but well-stocked. The grill was the same.
I will definitely play here again!
bpkinder,
Thank you for the great 4-Star review! We are glad you had a good round, and that you enjoyed the greens conditions. We look forward to your next visit soon!

Truly a spectacular round of golf. Everything was wonderful about the course, from the layout, to the condition of the tee boxes, fairways and greens. The only improvements that could be made are on the restaurant side of the course. The food was a little better than average. I will definitely play here again!!

Played On 08/05/2016I Love This Golf Course!!
What a tremendous experience this was - from the staff to the resident threesome I joined, to the clubhouse grill( great clam chowder)! The course was in fabulous shape. The greens were receptive, but true. Fresh white sand in all of the bunkers. Fairways provided great lies, and the rough was punishing, but not too severe. we tted off at 7:10 am and were walking off the 18th green at 10:40 am. Every aspect of my experience at Robson Ranch was memorable. This is one of the best courses I have played in the DFW area, and I can't wait to play here again!!
Wow, we're flattered! Thanks so much for such a kind review. We're glad you had such an excellent experience at our course and enjoyed so many different aspects of your time here. Please come back and play again soon!

I thoroughly enjoyed my round here. The staff is wonderful, the food is very good, and the course is challenging and in good shape. I especially enjoyed playing the number-one handicap hole, a 200-yard par three! Overall, an awesome experience, and I can't wait to lay this course again!!
Twin Creeks Golf Course
Played On 06/11/2016Decent Course - Quirky Approach
A beautiful day to play golf. Arrived with the other half of my twosome well ahead of tee-time. Overheard front desk staff informing the people a couple of groups ahead of us that they would be starting on hole ten. We checked in with no mention of this to us. Hit some range balls and putted on the practice green for awhile, then made our way to the first tee. Played the front nine, as we pulled up to the tenth hole, the "marshall" - Al Odom- attempted to give us a hard time. When learning that we had played the front nine first, he initially told us we had to go home. I stated we were never told that we had to play the back nine first, and that we intended to finish our round. "Mr" Odom radioed the front desk and told them that we were saying the front desk told us to play the front nine first. An obvious attempt by Odom to create trouble. We eventually were paired up with another twosome and completed our round. Apparently, the course plays the back nine first on the weekends. I found the layout to be challenging, but the course was surprisingly dry considering all of the rain over the last couple of weeks. Based upon my experience with Odom and the front desk staff, I would not recommend this course to a friend. With all the other better alternatives in the area, I doubt I will play here again.
Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
Played On 04/09/2016Really Nice Layout
We really enjoyed playing the course. The layout is outstanding! The greens were above average with some occasional bare spots, you could tell were being addressed. The bunkers were a little below average and need more attention. I used to play this course more in the nineties and remember the bunkers having white sand in them. No more - the "sand" is more like dirt. Pretty easy to hit a thin shot becasue your sand wedge "bounces" off the hard bottom of the bunker a couple of inches down.
The staff was very friendly and helpful - as always. A good menu in the restaurant. Plenty of merchandise in the pro shop.
Prairie Lakes Golf Course - Blue Course
Played On 03/25/2016Still a Challenging Layout
I have been away from the DFW are for over 20 years. I used to play this course a lot in the 80's and 90's, I was excited to get a chance to play here again. The layout is pretty much what I remembered. On the surface Prairie Lakes doesn't' intimidate. There are, however, a lot of subtleties that make this course pretty challenging. Accuracy off the tee is a must. Almost every par three is over water, and the greens play a lot quicker than they look. A lot of undulation as well. I found the front desk staff to be adequate. I saw a lot of Marshall's around the clubhouse, but never saw one on the course. The Edelman restaurant workers, specifically the female staff, were atrocious. Service was poor, and the female staff acted like they were doing me a favor just waiting on me. The food was good, but over-priced.
Would I play Prairie Lakes again? Yes, but it will be awhile. There are a lot of other golf courses in the area that are more deserving of regular play.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Played On 03/05/2016Fabulous Layout!
It was our first time playing Coyote Ridge. The course was in excellent shape. The fairways were in very good shape for February and the greens were fast, and true, but held an approach shopt very well.
The staff was extremely courteous. There were excellent specials in the pro shop. The restaurant staff were bright, friendly and engaging. The food was very good!
We loved the course, even with the slower pace of play. Can't wait to play Coyote Ridge again!!

Played On 09/19/2015Weather Wasn't Great, But the Course Was!
A very nice course! The greens were some of the best I've played anywhere. It started raining on the front nine, and drizzled for the rest of the round. The course was so nice, we decided to finish the round!

Hawk's Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2015Very Nice Course
A wonderful layout and a very well-kept golf course! Challenging for all skill levels. The greens are true with good pace to them. Fairways are rich and the grass is beautifully trimmed. I played this course back in the 1980's when it belonged to Carswell Air Force Base.
Hawks Creek is a much better layout than the old Air Force Base course. Developers spent a ton of money improving the design and it shows. Leaving the original clubhouse is a very nice touch as well Play the course as often as you can - you will love it!
Grand Oaks Golf Club
Played On 01/19/2015Grand Oaks No Longer Very Grand
I was a member here in the 80's and 90's while being stationed at Naval Air Station Dallas. It was called Woodcrest Country Club then, and was quite a nice course. Back then the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
The golf course I remembered so well is now seriously neglected by staff, from the pro shop to the course maintenance. The staff appeared indifferent, a lot of the trees (Oaks) are gone, buildings are dilapidated, and the fairways and tee boxes are in miserable shape. The only good thing about the course was the speed of play (you can imagine why), and the greens.

Great layout! The course is a little on the dry side, especially for springtime conditions, but still a nice place to play. Staff was very friendly!
