Oak Point at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Played On 02/28/2020Great shot makers challenge
Love playing this course as it requires you to really be in control of your game. Quality shots are rewarded and bad shots punished. If you play the correct tees and not try and overpower the course you will have a great day.....just avoid the 1000 alligators! They are everywhere!

As the title says, I liked the layout and the greens were very fast and firm. The fairways are terrible, way too many hard pan areas, especially as you get closer to the greens. The challenge of the course by design is to avoid the incredible number of bunkers and putt the quick greens effectively. However, when you include having to chip off of hard pan, it gets to be unfair, in my opinion. The range was in awful shape, not a blade of grass to be found, but the chipping and short game area was very nice. Make plans to eat elsewhere as this is not where you want to have lunch after a round.

Played On 03/05/2017Unique Layout with a lot of potential
The course is a unique design with the greens being very narrow, oddly angled and severe slopes if you miss. It didn't help we were playing in a 20mph all day, but these greens are very difficult to hit. The fairways are open and generous and the course is relatively short. It was in decent shape, the greens were OK, but the bunkers were terrible (I guess I shouldn't hit it there). The food service and food was very subpar (in a bad way). Overall, I would play here again if the price was right.

This is a fantastic track, superbly manicured and a really fun test. For those that are not from Florida, be alert, gators were everywhere, we saw about 6. I will definitely come back here even with a 1 hour drive....

If you are looking for a low-key, inexpensive round and don't care too much about perfect course conditions than this will work for you. As long as you aren't paying their "off the rack" rate, then the value is ok. The practice facilities are very good for a municipal course like this and the layout is better than average, with the back 9 much better than the front, IMO. Don't expect Augusta and you'll have a good day.

Played On 11/05/2016Very challenging with a great layout
Brand new greens have this already difficult course playing even harder as the greens, which are emmaculate are also hard as a rock. No approach shots were holding these greens and chipping from the tight lies around the green was even more difficult. Given that this course is already a brut, (no trees makes it overly exposed to wind, trouble off most tees, and a strong test of length 7300 from tips 6700 from blues) this is one of the toughest courses I have played (I've played all over Bethpage, Pinehurst #2, TPC Sawgras etc...). I'm a legit 8 and I've never broken 90 out here, but I will keep coming back because the layout although tough is excellent and the course is always in good shape and it's a good value. Just bring your A game and play one tee up from your normal tees to give yourself a fighting chance!

Course requires some previous knowledge since there are several hazards that are blind and once you get sideways on this course it is very difficult to recover. Overall it's fairly short, but like I said if you get a little bit crooked it can be a bear. Very scenic and in good condition.
