Halifax Plantation
Played On 05/11/2023Nice shape
I was surprised but yet not.
This course is always in very good shape every time i play it
I thought the price was a little high, almost 60 bucks with the fees and tax. Should be summer rates by now..
Ladies tee boxes were moved.to the sairway on some holes, others were dirt. I can see theyre working on them. Greens.are always in good shape.
The Club at Pelican Bay - North Course
Played On 09/10/2016P O O R SHAPE! TERRIBLE! Don't waste your money!
I heard this course was a nice course to play, that the assn put a lot more money into this course than their sister South course. Well, I don't know what they're spending money on, because it's NOT on the course!
The fairways were in nice shape- why? because NOBODY's playing this course!
The rough was so deep, that even when you knew EXACTLY where your ball was, you couldn't find it! The grass was way above my ankle and up to the middle hub of the golf cart wheels in most of the rough along the fairways and around the greens. I don't think they've cut this grass in a few weeks. Terrible!
The greens... well, there is no words to describe the condition except horrible. There were HUGE areas (8 foot or more in most cases) of DEAD turf on every single green! And every green was so tiny and flat. They were not too challenging either, except for the dead spots!
There are canals and water on EVERY hole, lining the fairways. If you pull or slice, forget it- you're in the drink. Tee boxes were OK. Overall, it's not a very challenging layout, and it's really old. This course needs a lot of work. I will NOT play this course again- what a waste of time and money, even though a got a GN price of 10 bucks, that was money I could have spent and played a nicer course.
This would be good for beginners, or for a practice round, and that's it.
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 09/08/2016Nice course in good shape and easy to play
I'm not great golfer who needs resort style courses to challenge me... I just like to play golf. This course was a nice, easy and open course to play. I really enjoyed my round.
GN gave me a good price. I like playing different courses in the area. This is a nice fairly easy course to play. it is in pretty nice shape overall.
The tee boxes were in good shape, the fairways were well manicured with a few rough spots or hazards around, and the greens were really nice and very fast and not too challenging. The rough was cut to a length where you could find the ball easily.
This is not a very challenging course, but if you want to just go out for a nice easy relaxing round of golf, this is the place.
I liked it because it was not crowded, I could take my time and just enjoy the game and nature and relax and not get frustrated or upset with some poorly placed shots that were easy to advance.
Lots of birds and nice scenery. I will play this course again. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed my round here.
River Bend Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2016Excellent course and scenery is outstanding
Nice layout from tee to green. Tees, fairways in excellent shape. A couple of greens on the back 9 need a little TLC on the fringes, but other than that, the greens are really nice and well manicured. I like how the cart paths are sandy and go through wooded areas and over bridges in the marshes. It's a fun course to play, fairly easy but offers a very relaxing round.

This course is always in pristine condition every time I play it. Play moves at a nice pace. Tee times are hard to get cause everyone wants to play this course. Greens are in very good condition. Just a nice relaxing round on a really pretty course.
Hidden Lakes Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2013Best Kept Secret!
Outstanding conditions. No wait. Not crowded during the week. Carts clean and well maintained. Green had a little mold on them, but pin placements were away from those areas. Traps kept nice and full and manicured. Play was relaxed, fun with no pressure or stress. Fairways just cut. Rough is a little long- hard to find ball sometimes. An easy playing course with not a lot of hazards.
Spruce Creek Country Club
Played On 1/28/2013Horrible Conditions/ Horrible course
Terrible conditions... I think the groundskeeper must have quit! The greens were covered with this black fungus, most of the greens had alot of dead grass, where the holes were moved, the old holes had sunken in. One of the women's tee box was all dirt and sand- no grass at all.. I thought I was in a batters box! They could have simply moved the women's tee box in front or to the right about 20 feet and had a nice tee box.. but NOOO! The fairways were pretty chunked up... We finished our round at 6 pm, and although it was just about dark, we went into the bar for a beer, and, as we walked in, there were 3 or so medium sized groups of people socializing. The bartender announced to us that the bar was closed and that she would serve us one beer.. well, she wasn't kidding.. one and then took our glasses... even though there were still groups around us drinking and socializing.. NOT a friendly place at all! Although the gal at the pro shop was extremely pleasant... everyone there, including the "members" should take a lesson or 2 from her. The course is in horrible condition, the bathrooms were locked... and nobody told us that the key to open them was on the key ring of the golfcart... No starter, no rangers, NOBODY! 2 or 3 fairways parallel a taxiway.. We had to listen to loud engines revving and SMELL fumes from 2 planes sitting on the runway revving their engines for 15 minutes.. nd every frew minutes were planes landing right over the course...ANNOYING! You're literally out there all by yourself! I won't be back to this course. Even if I got FREE membership with FREE golf for life... I wouldn't go back!! Go spend your money on other nicer courses in the area, Cypress Head, Crane Lakes, Indigo Lakes, Venitian Bay, just to name a few right in the area...
Complaining about the planes on a golf course built around an airport that is inside a fly-in community is a bit ridiculous, don't you think? That's like complaining when you get wet on a water slide.
