Camarillo Springs Golf Course
Played On 05/16/2021It Could Be Really Nice
Our 3-some played Camarillo Springs today. The track has the bones to be a really nice course. However, the entire property looks like your neighbor's rental property which has been abused, forgotten, and is entering foreclosure. The golf carts look and drive like they are used for a demolition derby and it's difficult to identify the difference between the fairways and the rough.. if you decide to play here, you'll get excited if your tee shot lands on a piece of grass or a weed (at least the weeds are green).
Oak Quarry Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2020Bucket List (Check)
Ever since I saw the majestic beauty of Oak Quarry via on-line pictures, I've wanted to make the 85-mile drive to play this course. Taking advantage of the light holiday traffic, I fulfilled this bucket list item. The course was in good shape; however, some of the greens had numerous divots prior that prior golfers did not fix themselves. The only minor complaint was the GPS on the carts didn't work and the course distances are not well marked. Thankfully, our group had our own distance finders. Overall, we were very pleased and next time there's light traffic conditions in LA, we plan to play Oak Quarry again.

This is my first post, as I usually don't take the time to write a review. But, I felt it was time to share the following comments. Our Sunday group plays at here on a regular basis - 2-3x a month for the past 2 years. I agree with some of the recent reviews about the moderate/poor course conditions, especially the fairways and some of the greens. However, I don't think it's entirely all management's fault! I'm sure the hot weather we've experienced this summer plays a role, but more importantly, it's the golfers' responsibility to repair divots in the tee boxes, fairways and greens. I'm troubled by the irresponsible entitled guests who are too lazy to do their part in maintaining the course. A grounds crew can only do so much and as we all know (or should), it takes time for Mother Nature to do her part. Our foursome enjoys playing at Sterling Hills and we are hopeful the course conditions will improve as Fall approaches. (*Note: during late spring, the course was in great shape.) For those that read my review, please do your part in policing yourself. With the aid of the groundskeepers, together we can make the course the DIAMOND as it once was... #beresponsiblegolfers

Our regular 4-some frequently plays at Sterling Hills. We enjoy the layout and tee time availability for early morning rounds. The greens are in good shape and pin placement offers additional challenges. The unfortunate aspect of the course are the fairways and rough areas. Both were in better shape in late Spring and early Summer, but were only in fair condition today and past couple of times we played.
