Great Eagle Golf Club
Played On 02/21/2021worn out dog of a course
from the start, the cart is in terrible condition, brakes almost gone, sticky pedal hard to make it lock in place, uncomfortable jolt when starting out- zero for cart. fairways, front nine have so many bare or hard-pan spots, back nine a little better. Sand, What sand? concrete-like crunchy hard compacted like quarter minus, couldn't get under the ball if you tried. no footprints or hint you were ever there even at the divot spot. Greens? Slowest i've ever played in my life. Lawn mower guys! Cart paths- broken, cracked, rotting, falling apart, bumpy miserable ride. stay on the grass and go slow to save your lower back. How about the surrounding rough?- everything is dead or dying. But nice pictures of plastic pink flamingos and trinkets proudly displayed by the trailer park residents can be had, so bring your camera. It's like an adventure down the oldest part of route 66. actually kind-of quaint and rusty in that respect. So if you ever want to have a totally difficult time on an old and falling apart golf course that is almost not maintained at all, this is for you. I wouldn't play again for free. Not upset or trying to trash the reputation of this course, they're doing a fine job without my help. Just being honest.

I really enjoyed the course even though i played a very windy day. Every fairway has unique features and challenges ranging from significant elevation change, blind shots, doglegs, and t-shots that require restraint. I recommend you pay close attention to the fairway layout map located at each tee before your shot- many water hazards are reachable but not visible from the tees, and there is no map on the scorecard. A rangefinder is a good idea here, there are very few distance indicators on the course, hard to find! That takes us to the greens! Wow, it's nice to see a course where the greens are full of character and elevation. You will no doubt be able to test your judgement and challenge your patience. I would play this course again any time, the setting is beautiful, and pace was fine.
