We played late afternoon and greens were bumpy and some areas of the fairway were dead grass and very tight lies hard pan. The layout is very good and ok for the price though.

Pete Dye courses are very represented by the Dunes and Mountain course. Remember one thing... if you are not in the fairway you pay! The greens are protected by fair sand traps and moguls and they roll true and fast with uncanny breaks. So if you have not played a course like the La Quinta Mountain or Dunes course be ready for a very beautiful but scary picture show. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and appreciated the chance to be in situations like Professionals face. Will be happy to play my home course now!

The course plays much more difficult for first time/less skilled players because a lot of shots have blind water hazards and sand traps cut into fairways that are blind from the Tee box.. Greens rolled very true but almost all have moderate to severe slopes and undulations. So if it is a first time, BE SURE TO STUDY THE HOLE LAYOUTS ON THE SCORECARD no matter your skill level. There are few yardage markers that are evident in fairway. Beginners and average players may find they lose a lot of golf balls in water hazards. For better golfers it is very frustrating playing with less skilled players because of the abundance of sand traps and water on almost every hole!. RANGE FINDER A MUST!

I enjoyed the variety of hole lay outs with water hazards and trees.

Needed to allow rough cart travel but course and greens were in great condition. Greens are a challenge to putt and the holes from the tips are pretty long and challenging approaches over water.

Fun course to play, good fairways and semi fast greens.

The fairways were a little tattered but the layout and length is well worth the time to play. would definitely play again at the price- a real deal.

I really like the challenge of the layout- fairways and greens were super but the sand traps had rocks in them and the 6-8 foot deep bunkers had very little sand- not enough to easily get the ball out. My cart died , we called in but no one came out to replace it, fortunately the paired up person let me ride with him.

They were aireating the day we played and the fairways were riddled with plugs. Greens putted ok just not what i like as a better player.

Enjoyed the length and open fairways but still tough because of doglegs and trees.

I really enjoyed the wide fairways for tee shots but difficult greens to get near pin placements when I played. I liked that I could really hit long to wide fairways... easy to hit from Tees.

Enjoyed the course a lot. Greens were the best, roll true but fast and tricky with sloping and undulations. Very scenic views of red rock.

One of the busiest days, Dec 26th, but a marshal kept it moving, good pace considering other courses I have played at this time of the year.

Started off with a porta potty trip at the driving range and got worse from there, no ranger to speed up play, parallel holes back and forth could get hit by slicing tee shots, finally took 5.2 hours and fairways were good but rough was about 6 inches deep in spots. Not a fun day.

Staff was very nice, greens were holding good and nice pin placements made it fun. Good variety of shots to shape.

My complimemts to the club house staff and grounds staff for improving the course so it is fun to play!
